  1. you need to find whats causing that noise first ,poss the magnets have come loose from the flywheel or something loose on the stator ,my freinds just had a prob same as you describe on his 2000 rev3 turned out to be the stator
  2. i have 06 scorpa wheels in my rev3 i had to change front bearings as inside diameter was larger but outside is the same ,the disc was in a simular position but you can play with disc via washers front or behind ,you can also have spacers machined down to centralize wheels or a wider one made if you take to a machine shop
  3. hi if you are trying to cure a so called little end rattle then you need to be looking at the piston to cylinder clearence as it wont be the little end bearing causing the rattle ,as above the cut out goes to the intake side ,and always replace gungeon clips with new and turn ends away from the access cut outs
  4. as above you only get 1 go at this thus needs doing right it would be easier and poss get a better job if you take the engine in ,id try a local vehicle engine/head reconditioning shop as they do this type of work dailey
  5. try new plug what is condition of plug ,clean carb out ,could be running rich fouling plug to prevent this lift clip on needle thus lowering needle
  6. check warrenty or call backs first ,its a good chance its a problem with clutch or dual mass (pathetic modern flywheel some idiot has invented ) if it needs replacing find out if there is a conversion to change to old type flywheel with matching clutch
  7. hi , you would expect it to be free is it a case of slightly reaming the inside of outer bush ,like you would a lorry kingpin
  8. the popping could of been the head gasket if its the rubbe o ring type
  9. sounds like you have several problems 1 the fan is a common problem often can be the thermostatic switch faulty which can be checked by bridging the wires to each other or it could be a bad connection to the thermo switch ,2 poss cause for running away is the slide stuck open in the carb ,3 the flywheel has poss already been loose or had some trouble in the past - before fitting new keyway apply some valve grinding paste and work the flywheel back and forth roughly in the position of keyway been lined up this will clean the contacting areas for good fit you could lock tighten the nut on but avoid over tightening as could damage threads ,,, flywheel been loose or coming adrift would stall the bike as ignition timing would be lost
  10. warm bike up ride with clutch held in pull away in 3rd and apply rear brake
  11. trials clutches often stick when not in use for a while some bikes do it after 1 day you need to warm it up run it around with clutch held in if it doesnt come off try pulling away in 3rd clutch in and apply rear brake at same time
  12. the noise you hear is more likely piston slap ,the one everyone suspects the poor little end for when infact they hardly ever give any trouble, bores start off as standard and with wear people often fit the larger piston best have a specialist check this if you want it right not many engine shops have the required equipment for honing niccosal cylinder plating
  13. still no results from last sundays woodyard trial at reeth ,come on darlo club were all waiting and theres another trial upon us now lets see if you can get them up before richmond do for a trial a week later
  14. the beta you show is a 2000 model not a 2002 as advertised this is another problem you will find ,people selling bikes as later models so try and get vin number and check it out ,only thing with a 2000 model is it has upside down forks beta must of wanted to get rid of some old stock at the time ,they reduce much needed steering lock and give a front end heavy impression
  15. hi there isnt a specific best trials bike as they all have there good and bad points but start with a 250 they have more that enough power a lot of beginners think they can jump straight on a bigger bike but that isnt the case as the bike ends up riding them ,scorpa seem very reliable but i find the engine rather wide ,where gas gases engine is very narrow which is good but they suffer from gearbox problems and the clutch can be problematic sherco arnt too bad seem quite reliable but need to watch out for crank bearing noise and rear linkage play beta and Montesa are also good betas can suffer stator failure but if the covers removed after use and washing and its sprayed with dw40 and left to dry they seem to be ok ,however these and the Montesa have an alloy frame so you need to check for damaged threads or wear the Montesa is possibly the most reliable but a little dated in 2 stroke form and the 4stroke is probably out of budget
  16. it depends how you want the suspension to act ive got a rev4 with it turned all the way out and its nice and springy which can be helpfull also a rev3 which is turned in more this is more dosile and dont get much response back from it ,try a section with it in and then out and see what you prefer
  17. would it be possible to file the block down drill and tap a hole for a allen bolt to go in then the snail can go up to the allen head or file down fabricate a piece of steel the same as the block was and bolt it on
  18. check the electric fuel tap if it has one take it off check filter and flow from tank then put 12v to fuel tap and see if its working ,i binned mine and put in an inline one n it sorted it ,also when running bike to see how it runs always refit mudguard and airbox lid as wont run right without it

    Rev 3 250

look at silencer inside for tyre wear, rear brake prone to problems ,squeaking from rear swing arm bearings, poss wear to shock bottom from tyre check shock bearings check condition of gear selector and brake pedal as all trials bikes wheel bearings but are cheap to replace ,listen for piston slap (that sound everyone blames little end for )also listen for rough noise from engine wich can be crank bearings , they are very good bikes but can be let down by users not looking after them
  20. i did this on a beta zero you will find that rev3 yokes will fit then you can fit most fork legs of rev3 dimensions i used gaser 04 legs rev3 caliper and the zero wheel looks more modern as i dont like the look or charicteristics of usd,s
  21. i recently fitted a rev3 silencer to my 08 rev4 mounts on rear the same and made a link pipe up ,its half the weight i had to put a washer in as was a bit too loud spot on now
  22. i fitted a modern black gas gas one only mounted by 1 bolt but its there
  23. you were luckey i had one seized in an xr250 i welded a bolt on the end and put a socket on and nut like a puller and brayed with hammer to no avail i then had to put frame and engine in a 30 tonne press it couldnt argue but boy what a crack when it went
