  4. Yeah, It seems adults just like to feel good about themselves. maybe they are inadequate in bed, maybe they have a small todger , maybe they just haven't achieved anything in life! dunno what it is.. but if they win at trials it makes up for all that! P.s. Spud knows what I mean
  5. I rode in Bikespaces Clubs Greyhound Trophy last year which was over 6 rounds if I remember correctly. I managed to win the class (by 1 ! ) but winning a trophy wasn't the motivation, it was beating the best in my class. Once I done that, I packed it in. I still havent picked the trophy up Tried to think in the past about other ideas for the winners but it seems kids like to have trophies, but adults like to see their names up in lights somehwere whether it be a write up in TMX or somehwere on this site for example.
  6. Great ride by Lee Sampson considering the class of the field A great lad who we don't hear about enough. I expect he will change all that if he keeps up this form this year
  7. I agree although most cars have EFI but they dont need a high RPM at tickover. Probably the only thing left to sort on the bike. The one I rode had the tickover set high and it was horrible at low speeds having to slip the clutch. I didnt need to do this on the 4T after the mods.
  8. I have had both bikes - sold the 2005 4T and got a 2006 290. The 4T (modified with a keihin and some other small mods I done) was silky smooth at low revs but with arm retching power if you rip it open. Something I rarely needed to do in the sections I rode. The original carb and set up was lumpy at low revs and on tight turns it was easy for the front to break away. The grip was superb and it gave a lot of confidence for a novice rider like me. I originally had a 2003 290 as my first bike getting back into trials and that was fiery as hell (exaggerated by the fact I had only just started riding again) ! The 2006 290 was much smoother, nice suspension and again a nice bike to ride. I would open this to full throttle lots of times without the fear like I had with the 2003 machine. The bike would grip ok but it needed someone with better skills than me to make the best use of it. In summary, I found the 4T easier to ride as a novice rider and if I were to buy another bike, it would be a 4t . Hope that helped a bit
  9. Yup, I am BUT.. I said I wouldn't buy another unless it went EFI so as it hasn't, I would need to see 6 months of competitive riding by Joe Public before I got out the wallet again. How double dare you say you want EFI the starting probs have been sorted, come on
  10. Yup, I am BUT.. I said I wouldn't buy another unless it went EFI so as it hasn't, I would need to see 6 months of competitive riding by Joe Public before I got out the wallet again. In relation to Javis winning, he could win on any bike around at the moment to be honest.
  11. Seems like Javis dont either based on that report
  12. And he will be at the SSDT courtesy of Sandifords
  13. Great to see my favourite bike coming back on the scene Although I would need a more elaborate performance report than "Its OK" from Jarvis before I was tempted to get another one
  14. I am not a 4RT fan myself but you have just got to admire the efforts made by Sandifords to support their flagship machine, particularly at the SSDT . I have just read the front page sponsor article click here and it just shows what extra you get when you have one of these bikes. Just so I don't leave anyone out, I am sure there are others doing a good job supporting their machines as well and its just great to see. Well done Sandifords The summary is if you choose to get one, you will be in good company
  15. Tell me about it Pete When I design machines, It goes without saying that they have to be designed with safety in mind for the operator, but nowadays, I even have to specify in the manual under CE regs how a trained & qualified engineer should undo a bolt! I interviewed over 100 or so engineers over the last 4 years (HNC Mech/Elec Eng) and employed a dozen from that and I have yet to employ one who I haven't had to instruct on some basic mechanical features of the machines I design or that we have. A classic one is an eccentric cam adjuster. All trials riders understand the mechanical principals of this device as its used for rear wheel chain tension/alignment. If anyone else here employs people they must feel the same level of despair I do sometimes
  16. These type of comments are becoming more and more mainstream because of the now widespread pathetic culture in the UK (copied from the USA) of suing for every god damn accident that happens that is your fault but you won't admit it. An old one was a woman on an airline who ordered a cup of coffee and dropped it on her lap whilst fumbling in her chair. She was scolded and SUCCESFULLY sued the airline for not having the text 'THIS PRODUCT MAY BE HOT" on the cup.
  17. I would imagine Elwyn would have been upset by this news for the very reason's you have said I really hope you can salvage something from this and I wish you all the best Gaz
  18. I have ridden there a few times myself and without any doubt, it has the best trialing terrain anywhere for miles and miles (and scenery too). The last round of The Greyhound Cup was there which was the last time I rode competively. It will be a great great loss for sure. How has Elwyn taken it Gaz ?
  19. Did I larf or did I larf Nice one

  21. I must admit, listening to the soft dulcet tones of Joanna Lumley certainly does it for me American women's accents just don't have it I'm afraid
