  4. >>><<< BS , That was wasted on him I think.. Its interesting how when you hit the cider you can come on here and vent all lifes frustrations on the the nearest recipient!! Love it, keep it up ! (by the way, who has to suffer the consequences of the chemical reaction of the cider & curry in ya belly )
  5. Now your thinking matey Real time updates of whats happening on the course beamed to onsite screens. text's to your phone, teletext to your tv.. Man, the things you can do is endless and its all being done right now in other sports.. so it wouldnt be hard to implement!! Rock 'n' Roll
  6. You make valid points Gaz but being the technocrat that I am, I believe technology IS the answer. If you take the system they use on go-carts for lap times for instance. The cart is fitted with a unique radio transmitter ( which could be encoded for instance to remove the possibility of cheating) and is detected to 100ths of a second. If the bike doesnt get through on time even be it to 100th of a second, its failed. No ifs or buts and no arguments! To get this level of accuracy is simply not possible for a human to do. At the top level it should be done like this to remove any doubt as to who is the winner or not. All top sports use technology somewhere except trials which currently uses none.... but it will change of this I am sure. IMHO
  7. Damn, when it said Sweden Vid I couldnt get in this post fast enough
  8. My thoughts on this whole post is to make it simple for the observers AND consistent for the riders. The way I see it, when put in the hands of a human, it becomes an emotional decision based on life prejudices and experiences. For example, if after your experience with Taddy, he came around again and on the next lap he put you in a position where he was 10ft from the flags and out of time, would you have blown the whistle or given him the extra 10ft? I'm not expecting you to answer that question but I use the argument to make the point. Making an insult like that to me about my family, I would have blown the whistle without doubt but if the other riders came along and done the same I would have given them the benefit ( thats all of them ). So clearly my decision making would have been affected and inconsistent. So I say, put it in the hands of technology where no human emotions can affect the decision and it will be consistent. It will not be ambiguous and no one can ever argue with it. Secondly, how many fives were given to the riders on your section on time? If 80% of the riders get through ok then the time is about right I would think. If its less than that then I agree. IMHO
  9. A lot has been said about bike setup, but what makes a good minder? If i draw an analagy with golf, without a decent caddy you have no chance regardless of your talent so therefore, a good minder can make the difference between winning and losing! Where do the good minders come from? Is there any training for them? etc etc
  10. Why come out with a satement like that. The observing teams at Hawkstone were 100% professional as it will be next time. There are other posts on these forums about not getting people to observe. With statements like the one above where you, in a round about way, do not trust them. I can now see why it is becoming harder to obtain observers How much money are you prepared to bet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In no way was I attacking the integrity of the observers on that day. I know some of them very well I probably didnt put it over that well so you misunderstood my intentions I suspect which was simply to find a way to make observing easier. ( I have been known to observe myself by the way )
  11. Ahh Andy, I knew I had seen it somewhere ( when swimming to the corner of the tank ) But couldnt the FIM afford them? I also would think they wouldn't cost much as the components in there cost next to nothing except the LED dispay. Could make them for under
  12. When at Hawkstone, each section had an official doing the time and I bet there were occasions when the rider was just on the limit of the time and gave the rider a few more seconds to avoid conflict with the rider or just give benefit of the doubt. Well, to avoid that, why not have an automatic clock that has an audible sound exactly on the time limit avoiding conflict and being consistent for everyone. The observer just checks to see the rider has cleared the gates before it goes off and the rider cant argue as when the sound goes.. thats it! Edited to read better I hope
  13. Scores dont bother me too much as to me they are arbitary and just a source of banter with the other club members & riders but I have to say without any doubt, that the percentage of scores that go in your favour far outway the scores against, especially on blind spots. At Hawkstone when there were a few observers on each section, some of the riders were getting dabs but not being seen and I didnt see any rider go up to an observer and say.." You gave me a clean Didnt you see that dab I done you idiot"
  14. He did that too but he wouldnt if Alexz hadn't been given that 5 !! Yeah, another great rider but as he isnt in A class it isnt worth arguing over.
  15. In reality, Wiggy will be expected to win, Jack has nothing to lose and eveything to gain so Im sure he will be going for it... and Ross will be well, Ross.. AWESOME
  16. Or, on his current form it could also look like this Aclass: Challoner, wiggy, Danby <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok Ok, I will give you :A 125 Danby, Challoner, Wiggy.
  17. Ross Danby's gasser at the IOW last year. TC fork stickers courtesy of Andy at http://www.graffics.co.uk/
  18. It could also look like this on the A route :A 125 Danby, Wiggy, Challoner.
  19. Are you fishing for a 3 Day ride? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL, a 3 day trip maybe one day to get there and ride the trial, one day in hospital recovering and one day to get back Seriously though, what one day trial do you have on in a few months time that would be a good example of a non-stop trial i could go to?
  20. How likely is it that the WTC will go to non-stop? and later this year I will go up t'north to ride one of Perce's trials and see what its like up there
