    Kehin Carbs

The Keihin is renowned for its ability to make the low end a little softer whilst making the top end sharper with higher revs. Its very responsive and is only of real benefit to the better lads/lassies IMHO. Saying that, It made a lot of difference to the 4T as it had a tendency for the front end to break away on tight corners. The keihin made it much softer and much easier to ride at low revs. If Sherco ever get the 4T sorted which I hope they do, I would buy another one.

    Kehin Carbs

Is it the same model thats on the 4T , the VHST 28 coz if it is, its not a good design and has been responsible for a lot of the problems I had starting the 4T. There is a small overflow outlet in the middle of the air inlet and when you tilt the bike up, fuel p****s out of it and floods the airbox. . then you cant start the thing until its dried out or you clear it out.

Got mine from http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/ Just remember to ask for the tickover screw on the left
  4. I loved my 4t and would still have it if it would consistently start!! do this mods 100% fix that problem?
  5. The reason why in Europe the authorities force youth riders to ride 125,s is based on safety. It used to be that you could ride up to a 250cc machine on a learner plate but they changed it because of the level of fatalities. In relation to the 125,s , I've had a go on Ross's 125 gasser and after his dads fettled with it with the Keihin and some other tweaks, it aint no slouch, especially when you have someone as light as Ross on it! To get good results from it, Ross has developed a silky smooth clutch/throttle control which is a big factor I think. Also, the CoC's know there are some limitations and will mark out sections which are pretty hard for them but not insane therefore, not overly exposing them to undue risks. unlike the adults where their sections are mad in my opinion!
  6. your'e in there too gasserboy nice win on the masters

  11. I know this thread has a serious side but the entertainment value has been priceless
  12. Funny you should ask that coz I have just designed one because I didnt like the ones you can get. One of the main features is it doesn't use straps and takes just 15 seconds to fix the bike to it. Lockable as well I'll put some pics up of it when its done. Shouldnt be much longer.. anyway, if you want one of the 'normal' type , here is a link to one Bike Rack Link
  13. So, back to my question ? whos gonna get off their ass and make it happen ?
  14. Why did you start I started riding again early last year after 20 years away after seeing some indoor trials on TV and thinking, this is awesome Why do you continue to ride Well thats a sore point as since last year I have been plagued with constant injuries. Havent ridden for 5 weeks and wont be for another 4 weeks coz of 2 busted fingers, I may not even bother riding again as the injuries are affecting my work Will spend my time instead watching Ross and other riders I may sponsor in the future. what would get more people riding trials? Forward thinking people in the right places making it happen !
  15. At Pateley bridge, how many of the riders had a serious chance of being able to win??? maybe the participation hasnt increased, but what has is the quality and because of that, theres less people of the calibre of Doug & Co. who can hack it. The amount of Youth riders coming through is booming though in the UK! At hawkstone, spectator levels were very healthy I remember
  16. Who am I to lecture you? I certainly wasn't lecturing you, I was generalising in the hope that other upcoming youths would take a look at outside sponsoring thats all.
  17. I don’t think Ross is a 'lucky exception' Nigel. We are doing nothing special and anyone can do the same especially as you guys have an excellent product that is Alexz Wigg, that’s the point I am making.Team Danby is only a handful of people just like most of the other teams. We haven’t even scratched the surface as yet. It’s out there if you go looking for it. It can take a lot of hard work but it is out there to be had, believe me On the 125 thing, the US culture as Ishy says above plus the huge distances to travel etc means there is no quick fix. Getting some money into the sport would help and I can only repeat what I said above. I have seen it with other sports in the US like the Ryder Cup in Golf. When you guys get to kick some european butt you sing about it for years and then there becomes an upswell of support and interest in the sport. I very strongly believe that getting your best youth rider and making him a world champion is your fastrack to success. that Pat Smage can ride a bit you know IMHO
  18. On the question of where the money comes from, I would agree with Dabster that it mostly comes from the parents however, it doesn’t have to be like that and in Ross's case we have raised financial support into the multiple thousands of pounds through various sponsorship routes. In the old days it was only the very very best that got decent support from the machine importers/manufactures but today the situation is different. Ross rides for JST GasGas and Shirty has provided a pretty decent package which he shares out amongst a bigger group of riders these days, and this would normally place him as number one sponsor but that’s not the case now, he’s currently third with other sponsors providing the majority of the cash that’s getting him to all the world rounds and we are talking in the thousands of pounds here. First and foremost, any youth rider no matter how good they are isn’t going anywhere without the 100% dedication/support from their parents which in the main is providing the bike, clothes, transport, fuel, shoulder to cry on etc etc and in Ross’s case this is no different to anyone else, but in my opinion, what’s needed is good business management of the riders on a commercial basis as they are a marketable item. Done well, this can raise decent sums of money and will fund a National or World campaign. In your case in the US, instead of trying to get everyone onto 125's right now, get your best rider whoever that is, get him on a 125 and get him the best training/support/sponsorship that you can get and get him on the world stage. If he does well, milk the publicity to death and it wouldnt surprise me to see the sport take off under your very noses. IMHO Picture courtesy of Trialsphotos.com
