  1. Is the time you state for cardio AND weights or just weights? I never train longer than 1 hour, I usually do 25 - 40 mins of Cardio (depending on how I feel) rest of the time (20 - 25 mins) doing weights.
  2. Yeah I see what you mean but have tried raising the bars and found my body weight to be a bit further back than i'm used to, so i'm gripping the bars tighter... Also done all the grip training etc (as you mentioned weight training). My mate, who's a fitness instructor said doing wrist curls is a waste of time due to the way the muscles in the forearm works. Because when your on the bike your hands close on the grips and around the levers. He suggested setting up a heavy barbell and literally just hold it for 1 minute * 3 sets. It did work but still having bad problems! I'd suggest to people to read up on arm pump and it actually makes interesting reading! Especially what MX'ers do to train. A few of the AMA riders do Yoga or Martial arts to improve their balance as they believe its balance based (I know thats sounds strange us being trials riders! ). Others have had the surgery, but doesn't seem to resolve the problem. Have heard of people taking aspirin - sounds dodgy though! Using Deep - Heat is very good. I'm going to try Billy's advice on the electrolytes etc Also concentrate on breathing, see what happens!
  3. Thanks or your reply - some interesting points to go on there. I have researched it for a very long time now and there are so many conflicting arguements. Diet and Cardiovascular fitness are obvious ones but also strength and some Doctors argue its all mental. Depending on your mind state you tense up and hold the bars tighter than you should. Makes sense really. But I get it just messing about or practicing aswell... Your suggestion of sodium, potasium and calcium intake is interesting. Will take your advice on board and takle it from a different angle. Thanks!
  4. Hi Billy - Slightly off topic I apologize, but do you have any tips for reducing chronic arm pump? I have tried all the usual things - drinking lots of water, stretching, not doing any isolated bicep exercizes, using deep heat etc. I've also experimented with handlebar and lever set up, different grips/compounds. Its something i've suffered from for years and gets very frustrating!! Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated!
  5. Hi, I've tried to contact the secretary of CCMCC quite a few times today about the Results of yesterday's Alan Trophey trial. For some reason I have been completetly missed out of the results. I should have been about 10th/11th in the Novogar class. I was promised he would call me back and didnt hear anything and have tried to call since but nothing! Could someone from the club possibly contact me please!? My number is 07962 913350. It was a long way to go for no reason! Look forward to your response. Thanks very much.

    Lomax?

Found in an obscure place! results
  7. Kinnerston's farm (Nant Ucha Garth) is the place you are thinking of, at Trevor before Llangollen. There is a stream running all the way up it with banks either side and some big rocks. They do <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> at the farm too. Really good place!
  8. THE COLWYN TRIAL SCHEDUALLED FOR SUNDAY 8TH FEB, 2ND ROUND OF THE CHESHIRE & NORTH WALES ADULT CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIP AT CAPEL GARMEN (PADDOCK BENDS) BETWS-Y-COED, HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO SERVERE WEATHER.
  9. Had this a few times on Gas Gas's in the past. Try; 1) Lubing the throttle cable. You need to do this regularly on Gas Gas bike or the throttles can randomly stick or 2) There may be an air leek in the inlet (rubber bell mouth from carb to reeds). Regular removel of the carb can do this or if you run a Keihin in the original inlet, as its a larger bore and stretches it. You said he runs the standard dellorto so could just be a hole or rip that developed over time. 3) The actual Inlet/reedblock unit maybe loose or gasket could have broke and air is finding a way in. his is what i've experienced in the past. A few things to go on anyway! Goodluck!!

    Ignition Timing

kdub - Follow the instructions as per Scorpa Australia ( bearing in mind this is retarding the ignition to UK spec! ) You need a flywheel puller, I used THIS It works very well!! You also need to get an Impact driver to undo the bolts holding the stator plate. The bolts will probably be scrap after whacking them so get some new ones, put some blue locktite on the threads and do them up with a screw driver hand tight because the threads are quite weak. Easy!!
  11. Takumi Narita has ridden the 125 in the Japan championship for a few years now. Theres some good videos of him riding them. Heres one of him riding on Youtube
  12. I have a few of a black one and a few white ones & the fujigas one, but cant upload them!
  13. I know what you mean woody it get to the point where you cant control the bike. Have a look on the adrenaline trip forums and search for armpump. There is loads of topics in there about it. Its about finding what works for you. From doing enduros you learn that you get armpump really early on but if you can, try to ride through it and you wont have it for the rest of the day. Ive seen some people standing around at the start with those gripper things doing the exercise before they start. The idea is to get armpump before you ride so you wont have it. It is an extremely vast topic and you will have to try all sorts of things, but deffinatly breathe well and keep hydrated.
  14. To be honest all the weight training stuff and exercises is a load of non sense. You will not be able to rid of arm pump, unless you have the operation all the mx'ers have! The best things to do are; 1) Breath well! - breath clearly deep through your nose and out out mouth like a runner. This will help it pass a lot quicker. 2) as other people mentioned, make sure your bike is set up properly and all the controls are comfortable. 3) If you wear gloves dont do the strap up too tight. Some people cut the cuffs off their shirts too. 4) Learn to relax your grip. Perhaps get some softer compund and thinner grips. 5) Keep well hydrated. if you read mx'ers forums and sites, there are literally hundreds of different methods people use. Some people go out on the bike the day before a race and dont get it then. Lots of people have tried that supplement called 'pump-x' and apparently it just makes you ill! I've found the best one is to put 'Deep heat' on your arms and breath properly and havnt had much trouble since. Hope this helps!
  15. You need to spend an hour or two researching what the bill of sale actually means. It generally means a contract of sale, a deals a deal. Not really a smart move by the dealer imo. Would they rather see you walk away and go somewhere else with
  16. I always had Gassers (300cc) up until '06 and fancied a change. Tried every make of bike and ended up buying a brand new '06 SY 250. Coming from a gas gas I found it took a bit of getting used to. Had to play a bit with the set up. Did the Jap race spec conversion to it and it was absolutly superb. Dont let anyone put you off telling you that they dont have enough power. That one of mine used to fly up anything. Rode Novogar Championship, various nationals including the Manx 2 day on the hard route. Never once did it let me down due to lack of power. It has to be the easiest bike to ride, the suspension is fantastic. No Maintenance. Just about everything you could want from a bike. I dont think you would regret the move.
  17. I have an 05 ec 250 and find the suspension very plush, but not that you get chucked around when riding. It may be worth changing the oil in the front forks, 15 min job, it should be 7.5 grade fork oil, 610 cc's in each leg. see if that makes a difference. possibly the rear is not damped enough? Have a look on Gas Gas Rider its an excellent site. Good luck.
  18. Wern Ddu is a very good place to go but if your going there to practice, your best going friday or saturday. Sunday is absolutly full of noobs on crossers and in 4x4s. Contact the Llan club. their a good bunch of people.
  19. Just washed the bike now after the Vic Britain trial last sunday. Took the back mudguard off and the airfilter is spotless and bone dry. I have had to clean the airfilter twice during my ownership of the bike. What you are all saying is correct, however I was advised to run my bike like this by Birketts and they run their bikes the same. When I had the problem with mine they were asking me wheather the bike was getting enough air. And asked wheather I was running it with filter oil. It does seem critical the amount of air the Yam engine needs. I too was a bit unsure at first, but ive ran it like this now for 7 months and the bike runs superbly. The airfilter will catch dirt, twigs etc and the chain lube underneath will catch the dust. Never found anything though in my airbox apart from a leaf. And the 2 times the carb has been off it has never had a spec of dirt or anything in there. When my bike was up at Birketts last week they said it was one of the nicest running and sharpest bikes they've had through. All i have done is put a bigger rubber mudflap at the bottom around the shock and silicone round the back of the mudguard and down the sides to about an inch off the tank everytime its off. I want to put some Mastic in between the silencer and airbox. Nitjay - you can get airfilter cleaner from any motorbike or car accessories shop.

    Rubbing Exhaust

bit of a strange idea but on my old gasser i found the top silencer bracket (on the back of the mid-box) was the problem and when they eventually all broke i had an off cut of a pair of cut down handlebars welded in its place (to an angle) and the other 2 mounts welded back on, spaced the mid-box at the top by the shock and never had the problem again for 2 years. Just a suggestion.
  21. I run mine dry. just spray some chain lube in the airbox. check it every ride. filter still catches everything. I also silicone all the way around the mudguard and right down to the front on the sub frame.
  22. Personally, I found the trial quite hard. I asked for 2 fives. Had an off on section 4 and bent me bars. Enjoyed the sections which were in the streams. imo it was a bit too hard for a novogar but obviously the weather didnt help etc. I dont get how you go round there on 8 Thanks to the club though, it was good.
  23. Thanks for all of your replies. Rocket Ron was right, distorted airbox to carb pipe, Thanks. It has been corectly set up now aswell as the carb by Birketts. Apparently its quite a common problem. They recomended to heat up the elbow at the top of the carb, bend it straight and run the throttle cable over the top of the frame. That would allow you to loosen the carb, turn it so the slide is facing you, undo it, and slide the carb out with out taking the airbox off, because it seems pretty critical how the tube is aligned to the carb. Hopefully now it wont go wrong! Thanks again!

    Scorpa Sy250

Value for one if it is clean would be roughly 1300 - 1400 quid. Check ones for sale in the TMX or on dealers websites.
  25. Thanks very much for all your feedback yama46; No the bike has not lost any coolent, the fan is cutting in ok and there is no leak Spud; it does definatly seem electrical. I'm in a similar problem to yourself as i dont have the equipment to test the electrics either. Boofont; I know what your saying but i dont really want to get an auto electrician involved at this stage as i believe the bike has had this problem from new and it may complicate matters, if you know what I mean. I was seeing if anybody has had a similar problem and found it to be something stupid like a loose terminal or something. I've checked the bike and have not found anything obvious. I was searching the internet before and found this article of Jim Snell at trialpartsusa.com. I know it is for a Gas gas, but it said " THE SILVER BOX IS THE "VOLTAGE REGULATOR". IT REGULATES THE CURRENT COMING FROM THE MAGNETO TO A CONSTANT 12V AC. IT'S MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PREVENT HIGH RPM VOLTAGE FROM DAMAGING LIGHT BULBS AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. COMMENTS: VERY FEW FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPORTED." It continues "THE BLACK BOX IS THE "IGNITION REGULATOR". IT CONTROLS MANY FUNCTIONS OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM. THE ADVANCE/RETARD, THE TIMING, ECT. COMMENTS: THIS IS USUALLY THE CAUSE OF MOST ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS INVOLVING THE SMOOTH RUNNING OF THE ENGINE. HOWEVER, VERY FEW FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPORTED. TYPICAL FAILURE SYMPTOMS ARE MISSFIRE AT HIGHER RPM AS THE ADVANCE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, OR THE MOTORCYCLE WILL NOT START. TO TEST, EXCHANGE FOR ANOTHER IDENTICAL COMPONENT UNIT AND TEST RUN ENGINE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON THIS COMPONENT. " This confirms when I put the new ones on the bike ran fine.
