Well I don't know all of the fantic model #'s and they don't make much sense anyways !!!
My 83 240 pro is a fm 450 and it only displace's a killer 212cc ... But it was the giant killer of it's DAY.!.!.
So if you put in your bio where in the colony's you are , I'm sure someone local to you will chime in and lend
a direction or help of sorts ...And have fun getting all the black spray paint off her , one of the two 240's I
bought to build my rider had a really good camo paint job on everything but the red plastic tank !
(but I'm sure they tried!) Removing the old paint is 1/2 the fun of old bike restoration ! don'tcha know !!!!
And I'm sure Steve or Lee will post what you have there . and parts will be easier to get for it than my 240,
trust me on that..............

And can the ? be answered ... Can a old guy on a old 240 fantic come done from SC. and play
in Florida or will there not be any twinshock appropriate playtime available ?
-
Thanks Lee ,
And Happy New Year to All out There !!!!!

Who and or what is VEE RUBBER !
Sounds like something a old girlfreind shouted once !!!!
Glenn
And I'm like stu I can't tell either and I've never had the chance to load up a bunch
of rims and try them back to back under the same conditions !!!! If you can't do
that , how do you really know ?
-
A photo might help ! along with the engine and /or frame numbers !
And check out r2wtrials . com he has some links to fantic parts ...
But I hate to tell you most of your parts will come from europe !
Also check w/ mike at the Trialshop in NY.
Have fun and welcome !.!.!.

What is the general consensus of what a complete , rusty , unknown condition 240 pro motor may be worth ? I'm always looking to add to my pile of fantic parts !!!! And what other engine's can be massaged into a 240 frame ? since I have a spare frame I can modify !
-
That works for me ! I've never had mine come loose , but that could definitely change the timing enough , Or cause the spark to be intermittent , to do what you described as the running condition of the bike ! Would it randomly be a witch to start to ? possible starter lever kickbacks ????
Sorry for the worst case Internet diag....................
Keep the FANTICS alive !!!!

Appears to be geared a little lower than your average sportster.....
But great Talent there , I've wheelied a harley and it isn't easy !!!!
Glenn

I've got a Belstaff 500 (nylon Trialsmaster) in red to go with the trusty fantic , and I was wondering if
anyone has ever washed one , as long it is air dried I can't see any real harm in it ...
Any ideas or experiances ?
-
HMMM... I would say on the money pit scale of 1 to 10 that BEUTIFUL old bike must be a 22.5 , not giving credit for the time involved either !!!!
Looks about perfect from this side of the pond !!!!

But Alan your Lucky ! From where I live it's a 8 hour or better drive to all the BEAUTIFUL riding areas
in Tenn. So I have to plan out 3 or 4 day weekends to load up the old Fantic !!!
But I'm investigating homes and prop. in the Fairview and Franklin areas !!! And I here they also have some real good schools in that neck of the woods for my youngsters.!?
-
:agree: I'd love to own a CCM trials bike ! And that one is a fine example , looks like some great craftsmenship there ! And talk about a 4t w/ serious thump and grunt !!!....
Glenn

And IMHO , cabby can ride anything !!!!!!!
Glenn

Now that is a SWEET looking powerplant ! Can I get one to fit into my 240 pro chassis !?????

IMHO wheelies are good to practice , as they add a whole new dimension to your bike control and balance talents , and in my own case in twinshock events , the properly placed stop , wheelie , and pivot can be the differance between a clean or a 3 or 5 ! As I am no pro on a late model lightweight ,discbraked , explosive powered bike , Feet up 180's or less are often the needed skill to make some turns in time to set yourself up for the next obstacle ! And I beleive Bernie Schriber stated ,The line your back wheel follows is more important than what your front does ! I personally try to plan my ride thru a section as to what line will be the best for my back tire ,ie traction and forward motion ! the rear is the driver , you can almost always change directions whether you can steer with the front or not !!!!
Just my 2 pence...
Glenn
And as Kinnell stated , Raga does it, so it must have some merit !?
-
Thanks All , You made that a easy Decision !!!
Glenn
And B.J. Ask Mr Andrews what shocks he uses on the 240 pro that I've seen a few photos of him competing onn in differant classic events !!!! Thanks again !
-
Have any of you out there in the world ever used Sebac shocks on a trials bike ?!?
-
I just gotta ask ! Does it glow in the dark ?
-
I couldn't see the clip , but I'm sending a check asap!!!, my new falcons can wait a week !!!
GO USA !!!!!!
Glenn
and as I used to live in lake arrowhead , Where is boulder creek ?
-
Great job !!! another old fine Fantic will be out and about to show how real bikes used to be built!!!
As I've been restoring mine , I never ceased to be amazed at the original build quality of these old girls ...

David do you have a manufacturer and a part # for aforementioned seals , and what oil have you found to work best for you ?
Thanks , Glenn
-
I just opened my mail and got a Factory fantic 240 brochure dated 11/81 , to go with the rest of my fantic paraphenalia ! But there is a photo on the back of it of the 7days version that I've seen before ... But the 240 with ski's and traks is just to much !!!

As my O.E. Marzocchi's? have truly lived out their useful life ! ( I have disassembled them and refilled ) .
But I can't find seals anywhere on the planet ! I was wondering if anyone out here has used the falcon
aluminum bodied shocks ? cause with shipping cost's I can get them for about the same as NJB Trikshoxs ,and the falcons have a larger shaft and are rebuild-able locally !
And I just received a set of the correct style of 200 triple clamps for my 240 . I was worried that I may have wasted my time on ebay , as I saw weekend before last at a event that some 200's have the same clamps as my 240 . But alas, the bloke 's photo on evilbay was of the set I got and the bar mounts are about a inch further forward ... I hope I can feel a difference, as I believe my 240 already steers quite well !!...
