  1. Here's another page of interest, it shows all the bearing sizes.
  2. Here are the capacities from the 200 manual. The spark plug gap is spec'd at 0.5 to 0.6 mm. Sorry for the large size photos, I couldn't reduce them on my phone.
  3. I had trouble starting mine when I first got it. A friend recommended using the ball of my foot, rather than middle, and that does seem to add some leverage and speed to the kick. I'm not really sure if that made the difference, or if I just got the hang of it, but I don't have any trouble starting it now, hot or cold.
  4. My bottom rod bearing is bad. I figured while I was in there, I would do the main bearings, crank seals, etc. I thought I had a local shop lined up to do it, but now I can't get a hold of him. Southwest Montesa has (had?) all the parts that I need, but they need a measurement off the rod to know which one to provide. I'm really tempted to try splitting the bottom end myself, but haven't worked up the nerve yet!
  5. Are you going to do this yourself Ben? If so, could you follow-up with a report on how it went, tips, tricks, special tools, etc.?
  6. I don't know anything about the bike, but Mike is a good guy, very knowledgeable and honest; I would trust his opinion. It's certainly worth a trip to his shop to try out that bike, and maybe one of the newer ones for comparison.

I used one for a 1978 VW 1.6L. That was a completely arbitrary year and model, but the physical size was about right, it had a mounting tab and wire, and the local NAPA had one in stock. I made a small bracket to bolt on the coil mount. It worked great, no more fouled points.
  8. I need a side stand for my 200 too! Please share any details as you build yours, if you can.
  9. The 4 nuts at the rear of my skid plate aren't out in the open, but they're not that hard to get to. The 2 on the right side are accessible from the side; while the 2 on the left are easiest to get at from the rear. Do you have a photo of your skid plate, maybe it's different than mine?
  10. Yep, drained from the bottom, and filled through the small cover on the side of the engine. The manual calls for 1 quart of 80W gearbox oil, or 30W motor oil. It doesn't say whether that's a US quart (946cc), or UK quart (1136cc)! I've always used a US quart, and that works fine.
  11. Thanks a lot B40 and Turps! I pulled my old one out this weekend, and it matches the size that Turps got, 20 x 28 x 6, double lip. I'll stop by the local bearing shop this week.
  12. Anyone know what number oil seal is used for the SWM Kickstart shaft? Mine is leaking, and I'd like to get it locally if possible.
  13. The only issue that I had with mine, was fouling plugs when it was new; fouled 2 plugs in the 1st 6 months. My dealer told me NOT to touch the throttle for the first minute or two when it was cold, not even a single blip of the throttle, and that solved the problem, the plugs lasted forever. I went the other way, went from the 4RT to a GasGas 300. Love them both!
  14. Hey Motojunky, old thread, but any updates on your tank? Did Caswell offer any advice or assistance to get you sorted out?

What color is the tank? Is the tank fiberglass or plastic? What color is the frame? Here's what my late 1982 / early 1983 looks like (plastic tank):
  16. That looks great! Interesting that it's called a "Factory Replica" this year, instead of "Raga Replica".
  17. Thanks PSchrauber, I appreciate the info! You're right 1.2L does sound like a lot, I was expecting about half that. Great tip with the oil level screw, I hadn't noticed that. I think I'll split the difference with the forks, and start at 200cc. I'll see how that works, and go from there. Thanks again!
  18. Forgot to post a pic.
  19. Hi All, I just bought a 1982 TL320, and would like to change the fluids. I searched the web, but wasn't able to find the info. So the question is, how much oil for the gearbox; and how much oil for the Betor forks? Thanks.
  20. Wow, what a STUPID rant! It's not clever, not thought provoking, not amusing, just STUPID!
  21. Looks good! That should help take a few points off your score.
  22. What's that in real money ? If there is such a thing anymore ! At current exchange rate: $25 US = 16.31 GBP $35 US = 22.83 GBP Curious; how much is a typical entry fee for a local trials in Europe?
  23. I remember when trials was a cheap sport!
  24. Thanks, that explains it! I see the "REVBASE" now, but had never heard of them before.
  25. Just curious, who/what are "REVERSE" shown on the side of this years Raga's? I assume its one of his sponsors, but I've googled it, and can't figure out who they are, or what they sell.
