Cheers for the offer..you don't have a spare stator lying around do you..just in case? At this rate, back and foot should be usable very soon

Hi Trialsnutterman, Thanks for the tip. I've checked under the piston as you said but it just looks the same ally colour as the rest of the piston, which is reassuring. The bike was running like a bag of 5h1te at the trial,it was way down on power, pinked like mad,the silencer was belching smoke like the wacky races, the chrome pipe has turned blue/yellow and the fan was working over-time. To date I've inspected/replaced a few parts just for the hell of it ,I never found a defective part where I could say ''that's it..got you ,you little ba****d''. Crank seals (twice..nitrile first then viton). 'Carb/ inlet gaskets.?? Radiator (teeny, weeny leak). Pump seals (looked good to me but changed them anyway). Cylinder base and head gaskets/ o-rings (old ones looked ok when I got 'em out.... but had to put new ones back in). At least I am very familiar with my bike now I have really brushed up on my assembly/dismantling skills but I would swap all that for better diagnostic abilities As of this morning she is back in one piece and I plan to start her up on Sunday (back/disc permitting).- Whats The Difference?
The Dellorto is a 26mm standard carb for most bikes.... ..To put it bluntly the Keihn is a 28mm? carb for experts....if you fit one the bike will lose some low-rev grunt at the expense of gaining mid/top end punch. I hear you can fine tune the Keihn more than the Dellorto but you are still looking at a lot of power. I've only test ridden a couple of bikes fitted with a Keihn and even though the throttle response was nice and crisp there was just too much wallop for me.- The Stone Roses Reunion

Stuart, enjoy your new steed (good choice of bike) But don't make it so easy for the Poe-leece next time- Tested In The White Heat Of Competition......
Yup Cope,a little cleaning up is required (+o-rings of course) though the pic is a little misleading as that brown residue in the combustion chamber was easily wiped away with a cloth i.e. it wasn't 'coked on'.- The Stone Roses Reunion
It's the Stone Roses 'pro-drugs' bit that I have a problem with not the location..... man that's proper boss..- Tested In The White Heat Of Competition......
Cheers Cope, I'm ok standing up but the lying down is a problem (I carnt get no sleep..this is my Church ...) hence the bike strip in the small hours: Rad is holding but I still don't think things are right? It still seems to be running hot ,just not super-hot like before? I haven't been able to test-run it properly yet so I stripped it again just to have a looksee (as the Americans might say)but I still can't make my mind up if we're looking at O-ring by-pass or not?.... .... The coolant drains out aqua blue like the med' off Cyprus yet there is this graphite grey deposite at the coolant ports where the cylinder jacket and head mate up? Whadaya think?- The Stone Roses Reunion

I seem to remember 'Motorcross digital' ? reviewed the factory bikes of Montesa and GasGas (not back to back). The Monts were effectively made by Nasa/ Kelly Johnsons skunk-works, with 3 or 4 speed 'boxes? and Raga's Gasser wasn't 'pumped-up' in the way the tester expected..I think it even had an extra flywheel weight fitted? Anyone recall any more details?- At Last, Co-operation In The Motor Industry

Aw,don't say I've paid- Main Bearings Gone
As for the sound that dodgy main bearings make, I would describe it as a ''swishing'' noise, especially when the revs are falling. Imagine you have a very dry or loose bearing in your hand and you spin it with your fingers..that noise multiplied by a few thousand (revs) is the ''swishing''. Very bad mains can be detected by simply leaning the (running in neutral) bike over to extreme angles to hear the varying side loads on the bearing.- Durafix....can I Use In On The Exhaust Box?
Durafix requires minimal preperation/skill it's like soldering. Technoweld needs flux and skill ,I have very limited welding experience so the Durafix is my preference.- Tested In The White Heat Of Competition......
