I know,sadly the club only makes about 40p on the £10 entry fee. The Sat includes the food,but we need the WCs which to be fair are there all weekend. If we charged £20 for the Sat and £10 for Sunday would it be fairer ? I don,t know. We lost money on the two day last year. As you know a few of us subsidise the club greatly,entry fees bear little relation to what the Trials really cost to run.

Don't know much about finance,but as the ACU have been around about 100 years and administer 1000s of events, sound's like peanuts. Pretty sure the ACU will be just like your local bike club but on a bigger scale. Plenty members,with a few hard workers doing it for little if any gain. If there's a queue to get on the trials committee it would shock me.

The East Neuk Wobblers and Montrose MCC are jointly running a Two day event on the 16/17 June. Based in Glen Esk the course will be 4/5 miles with 2 routes of an easy and moderate severity. My opinion is that we are all totally over biked. If the bike's were limited we wouldn't need the extreme sections. You would have to be pretty handy before a modern125 would make much difference to your riding. Rode the Loch Lomond at the weekend a trial which you need a bit grunt and 3 of the top 5 were on 125s.

Wish I could help,I've trialled for nearly 40 years. and I thought I would know most of the locals. Thing is every trial we run rider's I,ve never met appear from the woodwork. If I was to make a guess I'd say about 2/300 regular riders up here and about double that ride occassionally As for trials bike ownership must be 1000s,sadly a lot are ornaments..

Regardless of capacity,I would welcome restriction in horsepower across the board. Physically large riders have a big advantage over their smaller counterparts especially when the going get's tough. No one ever mentions this,but if power was to be restricted it could reduce there size advantage.

Some bit's seem pretty remote no doubt Ian would have the low down. I'd imagine riding round in a semi-oficial capacity could be the answer. If wet I feel the loop alone could be beyond the casual rider. Sunday would be an easier proposition.

Big thank's to Ian Middleton and his team for all there hard work. Saturday loop must be the best run round anywhere with 50/60 miles of fantastic hill terrain. Absolute bargain even by us Scot's standard of £35 for the weekend and a free mug if you finish. One route and very non-stop as the style of sections dictate this,but great not to look for section markers all weekend. Well attended by "forigners" but us Scots are gie thin on the ground especially youngsters. Will be back next year, hopefully with a bigger posse from the Wobbler's. Well done to everyone involved.

Eh,a lot of adult's should be riding 125s too if that we're to be followed through.

Back in the early 80s when we all rode the same route I remember Michelin bringing out the first of there trials tyres. Next thing I know we all have to ride different routes and everyones reversing down the sections. Seemed fine at the time,can you honestly say now "sticky" tyres have done trials any good.

Sat there all day. To be honest the section was a chore to watch 5 after 5 and the very rare 3. I would have moved but I was with the boss and 2 collie dug's so stayed put. The Beta man's ride was inspired,turned it almost 180 on the hardest bit, sublime. The legend's ride was more clinical,looked in control,just doing the business. Pity one had to lose,

Do you think the observers were instructed to 5 all riders for a split second stop at the BTC? If so all that would create is bad feeling. Speaking only fromSSDT experience I would never 5 a rider as long as they are making a genuine attempt to keep moving. Perhaps that's it"genuine moving rules",sound's rubbish.

The continentals don't come because they would get cuffed. No "continental" would have beat Lampkin or Dabill last week. They might be ok riding there rules on some nice grippy Spanish boulders. Suffering mild exposure, no stop rules a long way from home? Probably not as good as some seem to think they are.

Welcome aboard,did a few season's MX myself and still have the pins. Stick to the trials,takes a while to get the hang of it but a good scene. Just get out and have fun. Cheers. P.S If you want a race Ian Duffus and Jimmy Storrar are in our club.

Nae bother,I had a Gas gas that went into a Mk 3 Astra hatch. Only had to take off front wheel. Everyone should do this as it. embodies the spirt of Trials. Anyone arriving at one of our trials with a tricked out van or God forbid a Motorhome is bad form. The only real riders are those that ride to the Trial.

Got a wee leak in my radiator.(The Scorpa's not the one in the kitchen) Should I bite the bullet and send it away again for repair? Or, is there a cheaper option? Obviously being a Fifer I,m keener on the cheaper option. Replies from likeminded skinflints appreciated.

Things haven,t changed much. Reminds me of all our Trials,bad riding,a crash,followed by well meaning assistance which only makes things worse.

Some great info folks, up here anyone and his dog can roll up and ride at our club (AMCA). Any new members are normally asked if they want another rider to take them round. Also we have a information booklet too. At our club I,m proud to say the social aspect is as important as the riding side. Happy Trialling.

Hi Bony toe, West lothian seems to be a Trials Desert these day's. Must be an odd trial there but I can't think of any off hand. Plenty in Fife with us and the Dunfermline club both have sites. Maybe see you at the odd trial if you can get over the bridge.

Sadly it's only the laudie this year. For certain he will be marshalling the bar at the Ben Nevis Hotel to an exacting standard. The riders will miss me,not many observers fill in all the holes and ride (five) the sections 20 times before they arrive. Don't tell Rab mind.
