    New Electric Ossa

Don't think the words have been invented yet to describe how bad it looks. Even Gok Wan on steroids couldn't help it.
  2. I feel though the bikes are well made they cannot put up with sustained use. Once a modern bike has had a couple of hard seasons it's well past it's best and making things lighter will not help this.
  3. Didn't seem to bother some locals at the Japanese world round on the Yam/Scorpa type thingys. A point I would make is that if the weight limit was a bit higher perhaps the makers could leave a bit metal in there bikes.
  4. Are these limits enforced or just a red herring?
  5. Just as a side issue I'm more than deeply suspicious about synthetic oil in 2 strokes. Anything that doesn't break down naturally is bound to have an impact on the environment. The quantities may be seem small but it soon adds up. Don't know if any studies have been done?
  6. If TB can't manage the British round the least he could do is enter the Scott. Don't tell me there isn't a rider in the country that wouldn't be excited by this prospect. At WTC, one horse race, and I would suggest this isn't really a good thing.
  7. Hi Ross,as you know we run about 20 Trials in a year. I would confidently say a half decent clubman could win our A route on a T/S or tidyish Pre65. This has happened. However we get next to no entries in these classes, Fife to my knowledge has no regular Pre 65 riders and only a couple of T/S riders. When I look at results for other clubs events,it often appears that they are laid out with little thought to the older bikes. Don't really know why we dont have a decent following from these classes. Could be we're AMCA?
  8. Well in agreement. Got one of the last of the 200s,the one with the black rims and the rounded sumpguard. Also got a couple of 175s. Trialled week in and out, truly superb quality machines. I set out trials up here so they get well used, best made bikes I,ve ever owned. Dont think there's any other genuine 200s up here, Loads of older ones though.
  9. Just go modern,Pre 65 only for those that like working on bikes. Had a C15T for 18 years and have ridden a trial once on it. Just don't get it. Suppose it is pretty unsporting to do some of the mods you mention. Sure you're aware Pre65 riders are eccentric anyway
  10. Looking at the Erzberg result's it's all class Trials riders that can do the business. With this in mind isn't it only a matter of time before Trials loses most of the better riders to these "extreme "events? I'd imagine financially the deal would be better and a lot more recognition. Looks great fun too.
  11. Such ingratitude,I would ban you all if I didn't know you better. As Brad's still a laudie at Wobbler's he's a £10,even though he's a working man if the there is such a thing North of the Tay. As you know Margaret had to pack in because too many just came for the cake's and didn't ride the trial. We,ve been trying to trace the individuals and they came in a blue Ford Transit and a Black pickup. Please let the club know if you have any idea who they are?
  12. If you want the job of trials convener it's yours. You'll get my vote.
  13. I know, sadly the club only makes about 40p on the £10 entry fee. The Sat includes the food, but we need the WCs which to be fair are there all weekend. If we charged £20 for the Sat and £10 for Sunday would it be fairer ? I don,t know. We lost money on the two day last year. As you know a few of us subsidise the club greatly, entry fees bear little relation to what the Trials really cost to run.
  14. Don't know much about finance, but as the ACU have been around about 100 years and administer 1000s of events, sound's like peanuts. Pretty sure the ACU will be just like your local bike club but on a bigger scale. Plenty members, with a few hard workers doing it for little if any gain. If there's a queue to get on the trials committee it would shock me.
  15. The East Neuk Wobblers and Montrose MCC are jointly running a Two day event on the 16/17 June. Based in Glen Esk the course will be 4/5 miles with 2 routes of an easy and moderate severity. Ideal for older machines and the casual/fun rider. (Sunday Observed, Sat self Observed) Free Camping on site,Toilets provided by club. (Venue approx 3 miles from the town of Edzell) Entry £15 per day (Includes food on Sat),Non members day membership £1 per day.(No lic required) Contact Wobbler's sec Di Hay on 01337 831333 for more details. .
  16. My opinion is that we are all totally over biked. If the bike's were limited we wouldn't need the extreme sections. You would have to be pretty handy before a modern125 would make much difference to your riding. Rode the Loch Lomond at the weekend a trial which you need a bit grunt and 3 of the top 5 were on 125s.
  17. Wish I could help,I've trialled for nearly 40 years. and I thought I would know most of the locals. Thing is every trial we run rider's I,ve never met appear from the woodwork. If I was to make a guess I'd say about 2/300 regular riders up here and about double that ride occassionally As for trials bike ownership must be 1000s,sadly a lot are ornaments..
  18. Regardless of capacity,I would welcome restriction in horsepower across the board. Physically large riders have a big advantage over their smaller counterparts especially when the going get's tough. No one ever mentions this, but if power was to be restricted it could reduce there size advantage.
  19. Some bit's seem pretty remote no doubt Ian would have the low down. I'd imagine riding round in a semi-oficial capacity could be the answer. If wet I feel the loop alone could be beyond the casual rider. Sunday would be an easier proposition.
  20. Big thank's to Ian Middleton and his team for all there hard work. Saturday loop must be the best run round anywhere with 50/60 miles of fantastic hill terrain. Absolute bargain even by us Scot's standard of £35 for the weekend and a free mug if you finish. One route and very non-stop as the style of sections dictate this, but great not to look for section markers all weekend. Well attended by "forigners" but us Scots are gie thin on the ground especially youngsters. Will be back next year, hopefully with a bigger posse from the Wobbler's. Well done to everyone involved.
  21. Eh,a lot of adult's should be riding 125s too if that we're to be followed through.
  22. Back in the early 80s when we all rode the same route I remember Michelin bringing out the first of there trials tyres. Next thing I know we all have to ride different routes and everyones reversing down the sections. Seemed fine at the time, can you honestly say now "sticky" tyres have done trials any good.
  23. Sat there all day. To be honest the section was a chore to watch 5 after 5 and the very rare 3. I would have moved but I was with the boss and 2 collie dug's so stayed put. The Beta man's ride was inspired, turned it almost 180 on the hardest bit, sublime. The legend's ride was more clinical, looked in control, just doing the business. Pity one had to lose,
  24. Ouch, another bullet from the Dbf gun is fired.
  25. Do you think the observers were instructed to 5 all riders for a split second stop at the BTC? If so all that would create is bad feeling. Speaking only fromSSDT experience I would never 5 a rider as long as they are making a genuine attempt to keep moving. Perhaps that's it"genuine moving rules",sound's rubbish.
