Trials In The United Arab Emirates.
After being here nearly a year I'm pleased to say that there is small bunch of trials riders out here, possibly only 8 but its a start and come the new year I will be looking to get my bike shipped out. The scope for riding here is amazing, the mountains and wadi's around Hatta being a perfect trials playground and what makes thing even better is you can pretty much go where you want to. At the moment I am having a great time getting out into the desert on my KTM enduro. The off road scene is big out here for mx and enduro bikes, which can be found in abundance filling up at the various gas stations. The only restriction you have is the range of the bike. People tend to ride out to a gas station fill up and ride back, setting off early morning to avoid the mid day sun, which is still very strong even in December. However the desert is a dangerous environment, you would never venture out there alone. A GPS and a 3 litre camel bak and a mobile phone are essential.

Rules For Next Year
Considering trials is a relatively small sport I cannot understand why we have 2 sets of rules? Lets just stick to one rule for all and lets not over complicate things.

I've spoken to a guy in Dubai who wants to enter as well.

Fuel Cans
I think it is perfectly reasonable for a UK petrol station to see your risk assessment and method statement before you fill up your 5 litre can. Here in Dubai, the bloke at the pump fills up your car, petrol can etc with you sat in the car, engine running on your mobile phone, smoking a fag. Oh and its dirt cheap.

Trials Riders Cartoon Characters
I seems no self respecting trials rider can be without a cartoon character. Fujigas has his grinning Pac Man, Bou the dynamite clutching wolf, Laia Sanz has a devil, Amos a Tanzmanian Devil and Dibs has Snoopy on steriods.

Lets hope they don't choke on them. Mind you I don't think for one minute there was any doubt that they wouldn't not have won.

Enduro Illustrated
I recently got my copy of Enduro Illustrated Photo Album 2008, this is a review of the 2008 WEC and is excellent value. Well worth a read and well worth the money, with some great photo's.

Got one day off in ten days, so never even got to go shopping even if I wanted to. Mind you I managed to get to see plenty of watering holes . The Lord Nelson and the Hero of Waterloo being two great old pubs in the famous Rocks area of Sydney below the bridge.

Vic Boyes Trial
Big shame as it is always a cracking trial. Mind you its always terrible weather for that trial, a couple of years back I remember the level of the beck sections rising dramatically.

I would have loved to have done the bridge walk but never got the time to, next time, but your right iit is a impressive sight, especially getting the ferry to and from Manly. Mind you I was surprised how small the Opera House actually was. Port Darlington now that would be a bit like Port Clarence then?
