  1. Opened the gear on my birthday and checked it out. Gloves have the nicest palm leather I have seen.Fingers are slightly short but stretching to fit. I have very long fingers. Jersey fits well and the material feels very nice. Pants fit well and the kneepads are nice. Have never worn actual trials gear but the stuff feels very nice and looks to be very well made and much less bulky than regular off road gear. I don't think this will help my atrocious riding skill but I will for sure will look studly walking around the pits.
  2. Dove in. Ordered pants, jersey and gloves. Will see how this works out.
  3. I see this is a new company making trials gear. Looks a little more relaxed than what is on the market now. Looks nice - has anyone tried it out? Located at [ upandovertrials .com]
  4. If the slide gets pulled up it defeats the choke.
  5. Will be in LHC for xmas with my Raga.
  6. If your ride is just dusty or sandy air hose works well to clean up.
  7. L is right on this one. Live and ride at the same altitudes and went from 45 to 55 on the pilot, second clip and from 125 main to a 110. Runs great from 4000 to 12000 feet. 12 Raga 300.
  8. Don't know about the 98 but in 95 GG factory recommended 128-1. My 95 350 has been run on that ratio since new and has never had the head off. It still runs strong.
  9. The Utah club is the WTA [Wasatch Trials Association] Look at their Facebook page for contact info. We have had events at ski resorts in the past but a new area would be great.
  10. Dan at Mossy Rock Trials in Big Timber, Montana does great work and will make anything you need.
  11. Might want to check your own dots before commenting on others.
  12. Engaging the gear - Kickstarter needs to feel solid before you kick down. If you kick across the gap you feel that is when you can break that gear. Also when starting from cold try this. Put in 3rd gear and rock back and forth moving the piston up and down. This will "prime" motor and make it easy to start.
  13. Need better gas? Jetted lean? Seal or gasket leaking somewhere? Float bowl clean? Fuel flow ok? Gas cap breathing ok? Vents in carb body open? These ideas might help.Best of luck[or skill].
  14. For something different- I put the high comp. insert in my 12 300 Raga and love it.Very smooth, manageable power and easy to start. No hit anywhere.
  15. Taller gearing or taller gear will make motor less quick and less violent.Jetted correctly will be quicker and more violent. If you jet slightly rich it will be less quick and less violent and smoother.I ride 12 300 Raga with HC head insert and use slightly rich pilot jet[55] and the motor is smooth and strong with no hit anywhere.Very easy to ride.Of course I am 260 pounds and ride at 5 to 9 thousand feet which tends to mellow any bike out.
  16. The bolt head is thicker so the lever does not rotate as far out before hitting the stop and being ready to kick.In that position it has worked much better for me when it is wet or dry.
  17. Had the same problem with my 12 300 Raga. What I did was remove the standard kick start lever retaining bolt and trade it for a allen head bolt. This moved the kick start lever when getting ready to kick from slightly behind perpendicular to the bike to slightly ahead so that my boot stays on the lever instead of wanting to slide off.Works much better and seems much less dangerous.
  18. Heck with keeping it nice for the next guy-how about keeping it nice for yourself?
  19. Another option for fork guards are the plastic tubes that are used inside a golf bag to separate the clubs.Thin, translucent but very tough plastic that is very cheap.
  20. Started my new 12 300 Raga yesterday for the first time.Fired up first kick and rode it for 20 minutes. My 04 Raga is an amazing bike but the suspension on the 12 is very smooth and responsive. This will be good.
  21. On my 12 300 Raga the problem with the rear brake line was not only was it to short but there is a solid metal line to make the turn down to the swingarm from the master cylinder. This solid line ended up to close to the top of the swingarm and when it moved up from hitting a bump it will flex that hard line till it breaks.Replaced with a Venhill line and it fits better but still not great. It is actually a bit long so it ends up jammed against the back of the engine case before it turns back toward the swingarm. Both options could use a little work to make them right.

    Mikuni Carb

Something to consider-if you went from NGK 5 to NGK 4 you went to a hotter plug.
  23. If you want a motor with more torque you need to add compression. It will be snappier but you will have more torque. When you lower compression you reduce power making it feel smoother. Another way to smooth the bottom end power is to run slightly rich jetting on the pilot jet. This works very well at altitude because there is less air pressure to pull fuel through pilot jet so you actually need a bigger jet to compensate. On my 95 JT 350 stock pilot jet was 36. At my altitude [5-10 thousand feet] a 42 worked perfect.
