From what I can tell in the video it does sound good. Mine had the rattle when I first brought it home and it ended up being a loose baffle plate in the rear silencer. Thanks !

Must sound different due to the longer header pipe? Does it sound better,worse or just different? I do love the way my stock 199a sounds.

Spotted this on the web while searching google for pics. The owner did some really nice work with a list of mods that include a self made tank that is an inch or two shorter. Pretty cool bike that looks like it works really good. If you are on this site I just want to say nice job!

That doesn,t look too bad.I had a 350 and other than the awkward kick start I really liked it.The only reason I sold it was because pistons were near impossible to get at the time.

You can also support the cylinder so it sits about half way down on the studs,then compress the rings and lift the piston up into the cylinder.

Has anyone seen this bike? Not in production yet,but looks pretty promising. Six speed,water cooled with a clutch. I guess one drawback to the EM is not as simple so maybe a bit more upkeep ?

If you don,t have any luck with them try Alex Snoop here in the U.S. He had 2nd and 3rd gears for my 175 Stiletto.

That really stinks. I,m in Illinios so I will keep my eyes open on local craigslist and ebay for parts or the whole thing. If you haven,t already done so,I would also post it on the Mid Atlantic trials site. Good luck.

Just an update. I had a chance to ride it tonight around the backyard for 10-15 minutes. It started first kick and will sit and idle nicely. In first gear plunking along as slow as she will go it is not real smooth and kind of lunges with every power pulse.Maybe normal but it has been so long since I have ridden it that I don,t remember. Whack the throttle in first gear and she comes up but sounds or feels a bit flat.Did the same in second gear and it was more responsive and almost put me on my back. I have the points set at 15 thou and might try to play with that or find a better way to check the timing but all in all I,m just happy that it,s up and running again.Hopefully I can get out this weekend and put more time on it. Don,t mean to high jack,but I have a sprocket/gearing question also. Can you still get front and rear sprockets in the 428 chain? If not is the 12/44 combo good in the 520 chain size? Thanks, Scott

Guy, I will let you know how/if it works when I get a chance to ride it maybe this weekend. When it comes to electrics I really am a novice idiot so I wont be too surprised if something does not work right. Here is a photo of what I did.The new condenser is mounted under the tank and I bought it at the automotive parts store.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I reset the points and still had issues and then put in a new spark plug and now she is running.I guess that I had forgotten the KISS rule.

What is the correct procedure for setting the points gap? I had the primary stator coil give up the ghost this spring.I then put the lighting coil in its place along with a new set of points and condenser.Checked for spark,which was good and back in the corner she went until last weekend. It was very reluctant to start and when it briefly did it sounded really out of time so I shut it down and took the Sherpa T. Maybe there are other problems in my using the lighting coil,but I would like to make sure that I have the points set correctly before anything else. I think the way that I did it was to turn the flywheel until the points looked to be fully open and then set the gap? I want to give it one more try before I order up a new electronic ignition.

Before you by one call and talk to who ever decides that at AHRMA. I tried to use a later model set of engine cases to turn my 74 pursang into a left side shift and they would not allow it.

I haven,t raced an AHRMA event in a long time.I have a friend in Georgia who has been going to Barbers and from what he says it sounds like a great one to make so I hope to get down there this year. I bet the XL is a great woods bike and the Greeves would be awesome to have in the garage!
