  1. i take it that if your in college with a new beta that not all student grants are delayed...
  2. save the money unless you need a van for work, a small car with trailer will be more effective( the trailer you should get for less than 200 and it will keep its money, the tow bar should be 200/ 250) two bikes will just fit in a combo but its coomfy. i should think a van would be dearer to insure than a car ( my 06 traffic is 268 fully comp for the year, my octavia estate 08 is 210)
  3. the guys been found gulity, he was there to plead his defence and now 30 years later he 's everyones best mate. sickening what message does this send out.. if your good with a camera and 76 years old its okay to have sex with 13 year old.. lock him up
  4. if a prob gets worse when warm the something is expanding when hot and probably leaving a small air gap, does it run better if once it sounds like the you tube clip you let it have a little choke? if so find the airgap using oil smaered on all joints between the carb and engine to find your leak..
  5. he insists that they are standard geometry
  6. i suspect if you had the physique of Armstrong but rarely rode your trials bike you'd be poor but if your had that of cyril smith but rode for 8 hours a day you'd be great time on the bike is first and foremost the thing you should achieve after that a physique that you feel personnaly comfortable with for your lifestyle is desirable as a former cyclist i starved myself to be thin and rode my bike 4 hours 6 days a week my heart rate was 42 bpm and i was half decent.. that came at a cost within 5 years i'd blowen a knee and buggered my heart so ride your bike enjoy you'll improve and keep and eat healthy.. all things in moderation
  7. had exactly the same bike a couple of years ago. it'll jump out of first gear every now and again and the carb will be worn and most likely require a new slide as a minimum once sorted though a very competant bike 9 (i won my class first time out at a very muddy trial and i dont normally at that club or in the mud) as for oil i used 100ml of PJ1 per 5 litres of unleaded wow scatching my head for gearbox oils i remembered i have a manual for the thing here in the office so straight from the book.. 1972 cota 247 clutch 200ml sae 20 transmission 300ml sae 90 if you need anything else drop me a line.
  8. undoubtedly there have been fewer new 4rt at trials a couple of influencing factors.. price.. trials riders are tight they moan 10 quid is too much for a days sport never mind 6k plus for a bike.. alternative choices... originally there was one the 4rt then the countrys most numerous brand ( beta) started knocking out a 4T. .. the world wide recession.. new bikes are a cash rich societys niche market of a niche market in the recession that cash dries up (i'd hazard that the majority of new bikes are bout by 35 years + married males with familys who dont work as teachers doctors or other recesssion proof occupations) everyone has ridden 2t and changing to a 4t is a big thing.. simply put people dont care for change they may want it desire it but actually doing it is another thing altogether.. smokings bad but people do, pollutions bad but people do, organic foods are good but we stick to bad foods ... we dont change simple.. and thats why no body is buying a new mont
  9. great to see the trial attracting the Scottish winner on his bike.. thats not Dougie but Paul Heys winner of the P65 trial on his cub.
  10. topping out suggests insuffcinet damping effect . ie what the oil is supposed to be doing. if the oil is exactly the same as before it could be that the oil has not yet settled in the leg and air is trapped in a pocket. ride it for an hour or so to see if it improves. adding more oil will only take up space in the fork making it harder to compress.
  11. taken from the six at the scottish dvd/video. i entered one of the long distance trials recently on a lambretta but had my entry returned as '' the vehicle entered would not meet the technical scrutineering''
  12. at yorks classic we used to have a member who brought his Panther to trials on a sidecar...
  13. the 'yorkshire in the snow' is almost certainly 1938 i believe the location is beamsley beacon and the woods in the botttom behind the riders are at the top of langbar . i do not know when the lkley grand national started but the last scott in the area was 1937 perce's clip of 'holcombe bury' is the scott, but in 1936 it started and finished in blubberhouses nr harrogate at that time it was 3 laps of a moorland circuit around timble and beamsley, alan jeffries on a triumph was the winner. http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=82682 http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=2973 todays ilkley grand national is a much shortened version.
  14. working on the latest bike and changing oils etc. Mazzocchi 35 mm forks , what would a good 'starting' grade be and how much in each fork leg? Villiers 37a gearbox oil, what grade and how much and clutch, again what grade and how much? simple when you know as always but when starting from brown sludge anything has to be an improvement!! cheers.
  15. sorry pal but thats scrap metal now. replacement inner cover is 70 odd quid. takes a couple of hours to sort
  16. nobodys ever going to get rich fabricating bike racks or bike trailers there a niche market of a niche market. other than a decent brand name i cant think why anybody would want to ' buy them out' in todays climate i'd want guarentedd sales before knocking any 70 quid bike racks up that must take an hour minimum to cut and weld. not much return for an hours dirty work..once youve factored in painting steel vat etc
  17. this is where your local insurance agent/ man comes up trumps.. pop into the shop face to face and explain what you want and why my local guy will write me a cover note for 30 days using the frame number take a years premium ( 60 - 100 quid) and be slow sending off to the ins. company normally within a week i pop back with my reg number and bobs your uncle..
  18. i was lucky to have some involvelment in international rallying in the 80's in what i believe were the golden years. henri, ari, hannu and michelle were old school but for me the guy with the complete package drove the sexiest cars and imfamously when asked on tv if it would take a superman to win the rally said '' maybe i super driver'' Marku Alen a true superstar
  19. a bulb horn is not continuos it goes parp an electric horn goes on and on and on. you have to disply the registration number it does not have to be the right size or colour. ( it does once you ride it on the road) you do not need a speedo to pass the test but again its a legal requirement to have one when riding the bike on the road. you do not need a rear reflector for a daylight only mot
  20. john proves again that he is a very good rider as he has done for many years and not just on pre65 bikes his cub is modded as much as the majority though and he has ridden a number of p65 scottish trials without real sucess. perhaps his time will come so another 'unknown' rider can lift the trophy again
  21. okay take the plug out and turn off the fuel.. kick it over half a dozen times.. make sure the plug is correct and clean it up check the gap is okay put the plug in the plug cap and lay the metal end against the head and kick over agin you should see a spark if so its okay plug back in the engine, petrol off kick again ( it may start, if it does fuel on and stood still rev it out a few times to clear any excess fuel) now if is physically impossible to kick over with the plug in all is not well something is stopping the piston moving...
  22. yeh the throttle tube is the only difference in fact the difference is the shape of the cam at the end that pulls the throttle cable through easy swap // getting the grip off will probably the hardest part..
  23. sounds flooded, take the plug out and kick over a couple of times to clear, dry/clean the plug and try again// it may take a couple of false starts but it'll run clean eventually
  24. i bet the seller cant believe it and then imagine his reaction when he finds someone from spain has won!! they do turn up and pay cash though even oop north a guy turned up on my doorstep..having driven from espania good luck to em if they 've got the cash its theres to spend and you cant take it with you..
