  1. Morning all. Im attempting to ride a trial at intermediate level today. Its just a club event so I thought I would give it a try and see what needs working on. Interested to see where I place amongst the better riders. Should be fun.

Morning Dan. I cut a small slot in the tank guard (closest to the stancheons). My dad was going to order a white tank guard and told me that replacement ones come with a slot (I didnt check on this, I just cut mine.) How do the V force reeds compare to others? Are they the business? I have them fitted but haven't been able to ride a std evo to see what the difference is (also dont think im good enough to tell though).

Oh my goodness......you actually posted brumby ! See you tomorrow. Brumbys boy certainly CAN ride.
  4. Hi Spent the day with my dad today at midvaal raceway racing classic gp bikes. This bike belongs to a club member named Terry. 250cc single.
  5. Debating ratios is like debating religion, its what works for you. As riding styles, machines and terrain differ, so should oil ratios. How to work out which ratio to use, I have absolutely no idea. Average it out I guess???
  6. Hi My opinion only. I work on approximate hours. I clean every 6 hours. After every event or once a week if I train a hour a day. Its harder to work in rides as some rides are longer than others and some rides are dustier than others. I find it easier to work in hours and I dont think its critical if you are out by a hour or two. Just the way that works for me.

I have V force reeds on my evo 300 but havent ridden anything else.....also curious.
  8. Haha...no at least but they do wanna eat my wifes dogs (I have proper dogs, big ones that bite big snakes).
  9. Hey Cope.....I sèe you shoot? Can spot a bore snake a mile away (no pun intended)
  10. Hey cope Dont you hate these buggers invading your space. Caught this little b@st@rd in my garden a little while ago.
  11. Hi guys Just finished a major service and clean. Some better pics.
  12. WOw!! My apologies. .......ive just never heard of this happening before.
  13. As dan says....Bel ray H1R is good stuff. You can take Dans word.....he does know a thing or two about Betas Ill be a girl and play it safe (just for my own peace of mind).
  14. A melted airbox from a slightly richer mixture......WHAT !?! You serious....? 2 strokes would be burning up all over the world.
  15. Own the same bike....only difference might be V force reeds, titanium pipe and magnesium crank case. 66:1 or 75ml/5 litres. Works for me and makes me feel good knowing that shes getting lubed properly. Done tons of research on the same matter and settled on the above ratio....a poll was done a while ago. Lots of guys do 80:1 but I play it safe.....I cannot afford to rebuild a top end.

    Water In Air Box

Ive drowned a bike before. Plug out....kick it over many times....dry air filter and airbox.....drain float bowl.....and kick until it starts. Draining the float bowl should be good enogh. Water in the airbox should not reach the float bowl but would usually go straight into the crank case and bugger up performance. If it starts.....get it warm and blast it a bit....should be fine after that.
  17. 360 points although I think its a fair bit higher than that. Been riding for a year.
  18. Hi as said.....I think the outcome of trying to turn a modern mx bike into a modern trials bike, would not work without MAJOR work. Try find a old twin shocker and convert it into a classic trials bike. My dad has recently built 3 bikes. Donar bikes were Xl and Xr200 (rothmans). They would be good enough to get you started.
  19. Had a good ride today. Worked on undercut logs (small but working on perfecting technique), steep climbs with vertical lips at the top, cambered turns but still took the time to practice fig 8s (ballerina legs, cannot remember where I read that but its stuck in my head and helps alot).
  20. Im off for a week so im gonna try put in a few hour a day of propper training. My next event is in less than 2 weeks and im entering with the bigget boys to see how that goes. Going to enter intermediates......time I move up a class I think. Very keen to see if I can cope.
  21. Hi all After having to put on soaked boots for day 2 of Nationals. .....I bought a new pair/second pair. I was told Novagar has gone under and bought the last pair my size available in SA. I paid R2300 SA rand (130 pounds I think?) My first pair was donated and after some stitching work, I squeezed another year out of them. I know there is better but I like them and they get the job done....at my level.
  22. Thanks Wobblenorbed. My theory is white looks lite and super clean if its kept clean.....as I do.....im a bit anal with bike prep. If it looks liter, I think its liter and so on. Notice how most of the recent factory betas are lite in colour.....think they have the same theory, or me as them. Anyway....I like it!
  23. No. If you rub it down, it leaves a rubbish texture. I just cleaned with thinners. I gave two very lite coats and then a good solid covering coat, almost to "runs" point. All three coats within 1 hour of starting. Gave it a full 24 hours to dry. This particular spray doesnt require a primer either. I only did the tank guard and front mud guard. Both are/were black plastic.
  24. I know which are the expensive ones.....im curious to know what makes them better, design wise?
  25. Hi guys What are the pegs preferred by the better riders and why? Im all out for looks and pimping but If im gonna spend some decent dosh....I would like to make the right choice. I currently have after market BETA pegs on but the boys here seem to like S3 hard rocks. They are obviously wider but is that difference alone worthy of a change? Keen to hear your views.
