  1. Across Europe environmental issues are an increasing barrier to the sport.
  2. Is Pickering not east yorks ? It's not ne centre
  3. That will have been the Little Bear time and observation trial. Can't think of any other six lap trials in north east unless you mean north east Scotland?
  4. That would be an enormous step forward for the sport. Trials has been described as how much cheating you can get away with. Sad really. To be fair to riders it's down to the observer to do the scoring, this isn't Bous fault at all. However every Sunday at every trial someone kicks a rock while their mate talks to the observer, someone moves a flag , someone goes way beyond the reasonable limits of the section effectively challenging the observer to five them.
  5. TreGiorni Valtellina ( 3 day international trial starting in Bormio, Italian Alps) is sadly no longer run. I rode it twice , 8 hour days up to 3000m at times. Undoubtedly the best location in the world for the between section going. Most of the tracks took a bit of effort, not far off easy course in the north east of England. When we went back the second time we all agreed it was as much for the ride round, also driving through the alps to get there was stunning. It only had 20 sections a day, 4 of those were on the rocks outside the local sports centre. Some sections were really good but others were just on piles of rocks leftover from building works or road construction. Strange mix of people riding too, probably 40/50 doing the sections and the rest were just mountain course, they didn't do the sections. It was a huge effort by a very small group of people to run the event. More sections would have been better but I noticed the same people observing a couple of sections each day. In the end it was too much effort for the number of riders I think. The lack of Italians riding surprised me so maybe it just needed better / more sections.
  6. What brand of bearing was that?
  7. As with most modifications what you are trying to fix is the important thing. I'm always too far forward on the bike so I removed the S3 curve pegs and fitted raptors. I'm now on s3 hard rock steel
  8. Loris has posted he has been dropped without warning
  9. You might be right . I had a problem on a gas gas years ago where it would get air in the clutch system overnight. Pump the lever and it would return to correct bite point. As the hydraulic line is covered in a protective hose I suspect it was weeping or damaged somewhere but you couldn't see it. Changed the hose and problem dissapeared. Other thing to check may be the clutch basket itself. The centre bolt on a gas gas can come loose and push against the slave, so the lever goes solid but the clutch doesn't disengage. Not sure how the basket is held on as Sherco design may be different but worth checking.
  10. What brand of bike are we discussing?
  11. Just a thought but braking performance has improved significantly in recent years. As the disc is only on one side of the wheel is this applying a twisting force to the bearing? Power has also increased ?
  12. I am puzzled by this and have the same problem. I fitted new wheel bearings before going to Santigosa 3 day , then did 3 days of the SSDT opening the course before the first rider, didn't ride any sections. The rear wheel bearings where shot when I got back home, I inspected one out of the batch of 10 I bought before fiting and there was plenty grease in the bearing so left the rest alone. I've tried everything from £1 bearings to £15 genuine SKF and not seen any great variation in how long they last. Might be age related but I don't think we used to change bearings this often 10 years ago. We have had the open hub design, where the bearing is exposed since the first watercooled Gassers I think?
  13. So are we agreed it's not just the first lap scores are all maximum for trial gp class ?
  14. Looks like all the Trial Gp class riders fived the qualifying section ? This is from Trial GP live results , good news is that Toby Martin won the Trial 2 class
  15. Not very long at all, best is about 3 months. I do tend to do single lap trials
  16. I'm equally puzzled by this, why would you need to glue a front rim tape?
  17. The 17 had aluminium forks , no issues with coating coming off and still on original fork seals when I sold it. I did hear they wanted to make the front slightly heavier so changed to steel but I find that hard to believe. I honestly can't tell the difference in the forks in terms of performance and if I drop it I'll be happier as the steel should be more robust
  18. How big are the obstacles ? I'm thinking not very big of the Beta simply rolls over them but that doesn't agree with you being an advanced class rider consistently on the podium ?

    Predictions

Scotland is funny, dry or damp doesn't equal grippy , the sections tend to polish up. The sections ride best with water flowing. Dougie is phenomenal and can focus on just this trial he has no wtc to practice for. Hard to back against him but his run has to come to an end at some point.
  20. The dab ones look good in the picture but they are carbon look not carbon. Fair enough for the price but I think they will break quite easily, I've broke the carbon look leg protectors from trick bits and I didn't hit it that hard.

    Beta 80 Carb ?

Having difficulty with the carb on my son's 2014 Beta 80. The float occasionally sticks. I have replaced the needle and this hasn't cured it, as there isn't a separate float valve I think next step is a new carb. Do people just run the standard carb or is there a better one to upgrade to ? Thanks
  22. Thankyou for posting the pictures. I wasn't trying to be awkward earlier but your pictures make it clear. I really can't see why you would need the jitsie part to put oil in a TRS. In terms of which side to use you can actually drain both and I'd think you'll get more out. I started using the right side thinking there would be more debri in the oil from the clutch but not sure it's made any difference?
  23. Gas gas used to advise not to run a 9t sprocket with a 520 Chain as it's too tight a corner for the chain so you have high wear and lose power. Std gearing is 10/40 but if you went 10/44 thats pretty much the same gearing. I find first too low on my 280 and second a little high. On my 17 I ran 10/38 as an experiment and liked it, so next set of chain and sprockets i went 11/42. most sections were then done in first and that suits me for rocky streams which is predominantly what I ride.
  24. My 2017 is still on the original linkage and steering head bearings. Strip, clean and re grease once a month. No problem to solve, only takes 30 mins to do.
  25. I'm not sure why you need this ? On the Sherco the filler plug is on the clutch cover near to the water pump , so you need to lie the bike on its side to fill it. On the Trs you should use the filler next to the breather pipe on the left crankcase, just above and behind the ignition cover. I just use a £2 small funnel.
