    Vertigo Launch

Ride a section on your TY & then flog it round a moor for 1/2 an hour, then ride section again. Repeat process on any modern water cooled bike of your choice. If you still want to ride a TY, you're nuts.
  2. if in doubt, make it up, sounds good.
  3. I'm not owning up to knowing anything but I was in the Time Control vehicle & I do know the times, I've been involved most years since RMC took over the Scott & I've never know 3 riders be so close on time. PS No idea who has won!
  4. I'd call the going to be hard, there's been little rain all summer / autumn & whilst there's been rain the last few days it's all run off quickly. There was a decent amount of water running in Ray Ghyll (Richies Revenge) this morning but it had dropped again this afternoon, what has happened is the becks have gone very green with the recent rain & will be slippery.
  5. I assume the map is in the programme, not seen one. Route is Surrender in the morning & probably little different to other years when it runs that way, so an old one will be near enough until Saturday morning.
  6. You are aware that the TDF costs a considerable amount to bring to an area? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-28424843 PS I love the way this **** is moaning London didn't get any Government brass!
  7. I'd have thought a Mitani style stand could be knocked up out of an old set of handlebars.
  8. It's a sad do when Jack Burnicle is classed as good! I heard him on some Speedway the other week & he was as clueless as ever, constantly having to be corrected by his co-commentator.
  9. Funny that, I used to ride mine round the town when I was 17 as well. Having ridden 1970's twin shock bikes brand new out of the box, I know without doubt that in comparison to a modern bike they were a piece of junk. No brakes, no suspension, no clutch. Better reliability? You're having a laugh. 2015 ssdt (if only....) ride a brand new 2015 250 gasser or brand new 1971 250 bulto? Difficult choice? No way, Gasser every time. Anyway I think it's time I bought mysen some hens.
  10. I've heard of rose tinted glasses but dadof2 has a special rose tinted bucket on his head to stop him hearing properly as well.
  11. I actually think you'll be better off talking to the hens.
  12. Either that or you've been spending too long talking to your hens
  13. A 1/3 of the SSDT entry rode as over 40 ( an awful lot of them are 50+) & as somebody on facebook posted, there's a fair chance of getting an over 40's winner in the next few years. I don't think the SSDT is particularly indicative of the average club trial entry, nearer 1/2 could be over 40. I'll bet if most of the clubs in the UK allowed kids to ride for free it would hardly dent their finances. If they actually marked out WR sections that are no stop sections instead of stop section that are then ridden no stop it might all work but then I've watched what's gone on in the Yorkshire Center over the years, so I can't see that happening.
  14. Funnily enough so is keeping moving whilst not putting your feet down, the same skill set but harder to do. Trials has considerably more problems then arguing about the rules, a side show to the real issues.

    Last 4T

Now you're really making me giggle. If you don't like 4rt's buy a Beta, it's a nice Trials bike.

    Last 4T

Yea, top motor, that's why they sold shed loads of them & they're still in production.

    5 Or 3 ?

The Scott & the SSDT went No Stop in the mid / late 90's, prior to this both were struggling for numbers yet both have run at a maximum entry since, coincidence? Could their improved popularity have been down to what I would describe as the 'Dougie Bubble'? Top Gear also gave Trials a lot of exposure just before / around this time. Hhhhmmmmmm...... got a few thoughts on this myself, it might have something do with why the only Trials I'll be doing in the near future will be with a gun dog. I do think the rules argument is extremely silly, splitting what is already a very marginalised sport, trials has far more serious problems. Anyway, watch this check rider #207 multiple 5's under any rules you fancy but he'll get two 3's up that pig of a double sub for trying, if you ain't Observed or ridden an SSDT you wont have a clue why.

    5 Or 3 ?

& daft buggers like you think stop allowed is any different, watch any video of a top lad riding a hard section stop allowed & they'll go backwards 1/2 a dozen times the solution is sections that we can ride, not ones that we dream we can ride.

    5 Or 3 ?

Relevance is, SSDT was stop allowed & it virtually killed the event. Less than 200 riders & no waiting lists. I can assure you from personal experience, most lads are very willing to carry a bike round the SSDT for 6 days but they wont do it for 20 5's a day just like the tourists get for not trying & holding their hands up for a 5.

    5 Or 3 ?

You didn't follow trials in the early 90's then?
  21. perce

    5 Or 3 ?

So do you think all them people will turn up year in year out just to get 5's? Do you think the event can run with 100 bikes?
  22. perce

    5 Or 3 ?

It's an International Event & the rules have been No Stop for the best part of twenty years. I'm sure what you don't grasp is this, make calls like this into a 5 & 2/3 of the entry will 5 20 out of the 30 sections a day.

    5 Or 3 ?

My level of Joe Bloggs used to have 8 / 10 of these moments every day & I always was never too chuffed about getting a 5, having said that most times I'd get a 3. I think the Observers at the Scottish tend to give the benefit of the doubt most of the time, it may not beneficial to the lads who clean the sections but it does mean a lot to the lads that give everything a go, it certainly separates them from the tourists who go round asking for 5's.
