  1. He needs 100k euro to do the remaining rounds.............how many trials bikes are sold per annum?
  2. I'd say do the Clubman course,it's a decent spin round & I'd say you'll find the sections a decent challenge.
  3. Unless you can ride on the top course in Ireland I'd suggest you're on the wrong course. Expert, Inter & Novice all ride the same sections on the Hard route.
  4. 08 bikes were considerably better to ride than the 09, there was something up with the frame geometry for 09, 2010 bikes were back to normal.
  5. As long as you have the sound off & don't have to listen to that pervert Stuart Hall.
  6. Next year old lad, get training
  7. He's too narrow minded or pig headed to realise it's the best 6 days you're ever going to have on a Trials bike. I never bothered adding up my costs, it's priceless. BUT the sections are currently too long & difficult which also affects your running time, when you see the states of some the riders by the end of the, you do wonder why some of them do it.
  8. Yes, you can put it together the wrong way round but it's very noticeable, the ride ride height is considerably lower.
  9. As t-shock 250 has posted, your stator is f'ducked.
  10. I feel sorry for you, perhaps it's the S3 format that can't sustain a full 120 entry. Are there 120 riders capable of riding / enjoying the required level of sections regardless of what they might think of their number? Look at what the Colonial was, run at a not particularly good time of year, the first 20 sections are so were always slippery as sin, yet there were courses set to a level that it was nigh on impossible to get a ride & the no show rate was minimal. I don't think an on the day ballot could work. All that happens when the good lads get an early draw is they sit around on the river bank like herons. Queues start, then 3/4 of the entry end up at the last group all needing to finish within the next ten minutes. We all know who's to blame that they all get time faults, it's the C of C for not setting the correct running time. Unless of course he's weak & commits the cardinal sin of scrubbing time but then all those that didn't get time faults start whinging.

    How Hard?

I'm not sure if a two day trip which consisted of a lot of beer & a visit to one section counts? Oh & it was 20 odd years after that I actually rode. I did ride the Pollock the month before I did my first SSDT. My advice would be get fit & then some. It's got to bike fit though as going to the gym will only do so much. I'd also do a year of riding as many one lap Nationals / multi day events as possible prior to doing an SSDT.
  12. Apart from the fact that I've been marking out for well over 30 years & hold a National C of C licence. I've spent a considerable amount of my time & money enabling others to enjoy a sport.
  13. Same Trials every year, complete waste of time riding an early number as you're only there to scrub the sections. Forget the riders being in the wrong, organisers take responsibility & mark an event out that suits #1 as well as #120
  14. Front rim isn't original for a red 349, without a better look I'd say the hub is not Montesa, certainly not right for this bike. Chain tube set up is missing completely & there's something wrong with how the steady to the rear hub is fitted. I don't think the headlamp is a Montesa one, the mounting brackets certainly aren't. The speedo isn't a Montesa one.

    New 4Rt Mods

I always found 9/41 or 9/42 stopped the thing pushing me sections faster than I wanted to go.

  17. Chuck it off the nearest cliff & then go get p****d. Sadly you've bought one of the biggest Trials dogs of all time. 4RT as Gizza5 has said for reliability but the 4T Beta is a much better Trials bike to ride.
  18. Or you could just be tight & fit a Sherco one, does exactly the same job but doesn't bend easily like the crap standard one.
  19. So for you that means crack it open & go for it.

  21. Would you be happy to pay say £5 or £10 for every event you enter to pay for ACU policing costs?
  22. You obviously don't have the wit to grasp a topical joke http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/53251-don-smith-steve-saunders-and-john-hulme/
  23. The selectors are weak. I remember mine breaking when my bike was a year so old. I can't remember what they did but there was a mod done on it by the dealer. Must have worked as I understand the old girl is still going 30 odd years later.
