So nice that Dabster's ordering three, one of each size.
-
it's alright, you're getting to an age where you'll need to get off for a p*** on the way to Chairlift, you can have a bit wander about at the same time.
-
Aye, for the majority there's only one person to worry about & that's the bloke with the clock, the rest is irrelevant if you can't get it round within 2 1/2 hours of the fastest man.

The snarl ups mostly occur early on in the Trial. Each Obsever team do it there own way but quite often there's 3 or 4 of them working the section. The observer book has lines of 0 1 2 3 5, so the observer writes the rider number & then a cross against the score. You might get one writing, another calling rider numbers & another observing. At most of the sections there is also a number checker who writes the numbers down of the riders as they arrive. This is used in the results room to cross reference errors which occur in the observer book regarding rider numbers. A common error is typically writing #13 instead of #113. Both books are done chronologically. Outstanding score queries which occur are decided at the C of C's discretion.

Almost right, we haven't used Totterghyll section for some time now, we only use Tank Trap which is in the bottom end of the wood.
-
1/2 way round is By Pass, 128 riders rode the last section here before heading off to Gunnerside Ghyll.
-
I've been told she's had one wrist pinned & the other wired.
-
Gubian appeared from the course whilst we were we waiting for the Fell Rescue to get to Robyn Alderson. He'd lost the tyre off the rim & had it tied on with bits of rope.

Mostly fair Monday.
p****d down Tuesday most of the day.
p****d down Wednesday morning.
Mostly fair today but currently p***ing down.
Water levels in becks have varied most of the week but I don't thing there would have been a Trial had Tuesday been the big day.
Are you staying in town?

I can assure you that of the ones we find, the physically exhausted considerably outnumber those with mechanical problems.
-
If it carries on raining like it did today you'll all be setting off on jetskis
-
Wont be doing much bottoming out, shall we say the moors are moist.
-
If you finish in time I'll make Dabster run 4 laps round the Obelisk buck naked......... http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2530722

Can't think it'll be a problem for you as I doubt you'll be going fast enough. You'll set off far too quick but I'll bet you're blowing hard by the time you come out of Rotten Wood, by that time you should have realised that it's not a race & that you'll have to look after yourself to see how far round the course you can get.
-
Ride your bike as you normally ride it, no need to have it anything different to normal, it's just a Trial.
-
Leave your gearing as you usually ride, it's not a race & you'll be totally shagged by the fat bitch pulling your arms out.
-
I'm not defending that but I did something very similar without thinking for another rider in the SSDT, the observer passed comment to me but i genuinely didn't know the rider i'd helped.

That's it, she just used to lie there & wait for somebody to pick her up, by the end of the week everybody used to be so p****d off they just walked / rode past her.
-
Yes but in my opinion they cause more hold ups than the friend groups of more able riders, who possibly now may be penalised by being split up. With the current reluctance to give 'delay' particularly in the long double subs, it can reduce the rding enjoment of many.
-
The tourists are a bloody menace & can make a hard week a lot more difficult. You pass them over the rough stuff but by the time you've looked at the next group they arrive & immediately cause hassle. if you're not sharpish they'll be in front of you again & you have to wait 10 minutes to ride the sections, as a bonus they thoroughly rotivate it for you. It gets better towards the end of the week as they're that shagged they can't keep up but then you start catching the ones that are 30 numbers in front. I once got caught out by that Jap lass that was crap, she got between me & my riding buddies 2 groups before lunch on the Thursday, she wasted that much time getting stuck in a double sub that it took me almost to Fersit to catch them up again.
Talking of Japs, a few years ago, how the hell did you get the big bugger that was knackered off Rannoch Moor & was refusing to go on?
-
100% true, the Trial could be very different but then the good lads would start moaning that it was far too easy.
-
I've always thought that the big grippy rocks on Fremmy Edge would make a great World Round. Now if we could get R Bailey esq. to tarmac the show field we'd be on.
-
Heard a rumour last night that Mr Baldilocks may not be staring this morning, heard he was down A & E last night with a hand injury, dislocation?
