They had a tough old week. Well done to Baldilocks who was still in there at the second last group so I assume made it to the end, and to everyone else who finished. You're all nuts!

Front page now

I use a little-known and highly secret technique known as "buggering about with the settings". It's so hush-hush, I can't really say much. This is still a relatively new camera to me and one I've not had nearly enough time using. I had major problems on Monday, as the photos show. Some were coming out light, some dark and some in-between. I went through the settings and so did Kitch and we couldn't find anything wrong. Eventually spotted bracketing was switched on. Once that was turned off all was fine. Next problem was it was set to use single focusing rather than continuous. Now that's sorted I'm really happy with the results, but I'm on Ken Rockwell's site every evening looking for other things I can tweak (and probably break it again)

Please, please, please DON'T wear those dayglo flourescent safety jackets, particularly those with reflective strips on them. You have no idea how much they bugger up photos

Very sad to hear about Kevin passing. Spent many a night (all night on numerous occasions!) with him putting the world to rights in the bar at the Milton. Only recently came across some photos of the old crew seriously under the influence of SSDT whisky. My condolences to his family Andy

Has there been an official statement on either cancellation or scoring or is this just Internet rumour? Nobody here can confirm, not that I'm about to go traipsing round fort William in this weather trying to find out...

That's just dumb. The only people that would suffer are the organisers. I have a bit of an insight into how much it costs to put one of these on and we're not exactly seeing organisers queuing up in the UK to take on the commitment. I know some have no interest in the world Trials "circus", but those that do need to support these events or they just won't happen. The downside is Thierry is a big advocate of no-stop. I doubt I'd get an unbiased view. Cabestany's post-event comments (Google translated) say "And to end the trial, and speak with Michaud, and tell me that he was happy in as it had worked". Essential bit of kit - even if it doesn't work 100% of the time. The one rule we don't get is the rear sprocket guard. How many minders/riders/spectators have lost/damaged fingers in the rear sprocket?
