  1. my rev 3 200 was like this crank shaft seal dry side IE flywheel stator side had perished badly .
  2. I am old enough to remember the reason the bike limit was brought down from 250 to 125 cc was the high number of fatal accidents involving youths who just jumped on a bike capable of 100+ MPH and killing themselves and at times others. this was down to them being unable to either ride or control the bike properly.hence the introduction I for one would shudder to think in this day an age allowing a youth my sons included the chance to just go out and purchase a 250 jump on and ride it. especially as the volume of road traffic has increased dramaticially since its introduction. and most youths are dickheads any way mine including.
  3. engines on locos diesel electrics are for all intents and purposes a donkey engine they are there to provide power to either an ac generator or alternator which converts the AC to DC to power traction motors on the wheels. a true electric loco say like a brush built class 92 is far more powerfull than its diesel electric counterpart.and lighter so in theory a electrics trial bike should give more grunt than a petrol version but the tech isn't quite there yet .funny thing is the vast majority of british freight locos running round the networks are 2 stroke diesels.
  4. make it short and sweet after suffering a mishap on my bike throttle stuck fell off broke wrist cut elbow stitches .I went to my local A E for treatment didn't no I had broken wrist thought I had sprained it. anyways when they found out I was on warfarin concerns about internal bleeding . I had to have a CT scan ECG.[ I have had heart surgery] back neck and chest x rays and was only allowed home after 9 hours I fell off doing about 5 miles an hour was fully kitted out it was a beginners trial official one . I now find myself with a few weeks spare till cast comes off pondering which trials to do next I certainly wont be doing the rocky type ones and am quite happy to completely miss out certain sections so anyone else in my situation in regards to taking blood thinning meds be very carefull I am not put off but will certainly be investing in some body protection etc .. so just be carefull to people in my situation.
  5. hope you got sorted mate if not name and shame .
  6. intend keeping both bikes problem at the moment is getting out and now forecast a cold snap . I had rode a rev 200 a couple of times before buying one found it was a lot more controllable than the gassa were I am less likely to launch it and lose control especially when going up an incline due to snappy throttle. to be honest both the bikes are both far more capable than I ever will be but was wondering is there anything I need to keep an eye on the beta.
  7. picked a beta rev 200 2004 to go with my gas gas 125 txt pro. a couple of questions which in my haste forgot to ask 1/ which is the best spark plug for it. and whats the gap setting. 2/ gear stroke clutch oil which is the best to use fuel pipe breather pipe there wasn't one on but I assume there should be but unlike my gas gas no visible sign of were the free end goes as on the gassa it tucks between centre of tank and handlebars stroke forks. 3/ anything to keep an eye on look out for clutch is annoying but tend to rock it back and forth in 2nd seems to free it off quickly before starting it up.[cheers for that tip craig] well happy with it kicks up first second kick no problems same as my gassa but sounds like a tank compared to my gassa which hums like a sewing machine. but no unusual bangs rattles etc and are both spot on.
  8. lead singer lemmy passed away last week 2 days after learning he was suffering from a rare but aggressive form of cancer. only found out today as I was abroad last week. RIP lemmy
  9. actually here in gods county [Lancashire] we had the pleasure of middle age men creaming themselves in haslingden for 15 minutes over arcade games like space invaders ****e etc. no scotts trial coverage and I was late for my nightshift waiting to see it as well!!!.
  10. I don't see the point in trial pants to be honest there expensive and offer no protection whtsoever. I wear them but wear work pants over the top with knee pads underneath.
  11. at 750 you could break it and easily get your money back on parts. .like its been said its an old bike but a very good model and at the price I am sure you may be able to shave a few more quid off . its up to you a punt people have spent far more on bikes and they have turned out to be lemons but 750 don't sweat it .
  12. all tongue in cheek your riding a glorified bus, sprinter units built at Leyland as a stop gap look like a single decker bus and as uncomfortable. truth is I only took trials extremely late 50+ but I still laugh at my owd fella god rest his soul as angling [match fishing ]was my passion and how he laughed when I bought the first 7 metre poles[that weighed a ton] or started fishing braid instead of main line for long distance bream fishing etc etc.and it would never catch on and they were gimmicks.. if your honest just think about the bags of crap we used to drive when we were younger Cortina escorts vivas marina allegros princes datsuns rubbish gold seal Sherpa vans rubbish yorky tranist vans Bedford cfs they were pants!!! its relevant when you let rose tinted glasses cloud your judgement and look at things as you imagine how they were not what they actually where like.
  13. not wish to getting into a sparring match you seem to more than enough sparring partners. leaves do get compacted into the railhead I help maintain both railhead and third rail [when it snows ] treatment trains in the northwest and northern England the jetters clean the rail head upto 1500 bar but are quite capable of higher jetting pressures. and quite capable of cutting through rail when stationary. also we operate maintain service on behalf of net work rail the third rail de icer round Merseyside third rail in winter. we achieve across the board and have done for 10 years plus 95%+ availability in regards to services provided for both services. as for running into a cow I cant do owt about that bud an act of god that.and as the railway is owned by various rail companys take it up with the guys you purchased the ticket off. embrace the future I know its made easy for a guy like me .at the end off the day its horses for courses to me you seem to be arguing against the wheel. which leads me onto my final ditty I can get you some good used loco tyres with good Gibson rings and witness marks full set 16000 grand no questions asked but no carbs fuel injection though
  14. can not see what the fuss is about EFI most cars are standard with it along with EM units to manage it all all modern nearly modern [15 years old plus] locomotives in the UK are 2 stroke diesels built by GM the most power full are electrics capable of dual voltage running [overhead and third rail] tech moves on with the times everything evolves along with the bikes embrace it.
  15. you mean like prince who is now known as the artist formally known as prince. I have refrained from using P!$$ in front of artist but to be quite honest he was known to be a pain in the ass. maybe he should team up with jotagas or the artists formally known as jotagas .
  16. this certainly put a big smile on my face
  17. there is a way to work it out the caravan club have all the data in regards to bike racks being fitted and how much you deduct for the caravan towing weight/ nose weight. I think off top of my head approx. 7% which is part of the towing code . and must not exceed maxiumum vertical towing load and be aware the vehicle may have lower towing capacities than the towbar its self
  18. I was surprised know one took the patent over from moto cinch over it looked really good. htrdoug design looks really good as well was wondering could you shallow up the angle of anchorage a bit more more vertical anchorage from the footpegs down to the floor like moto cinch risk racing devices. was looking at the design and was thinking you could incorporate a female threaded tube and say a nylock nut on the threaded bar after to elemante any chance of it undoing but I am more than likely over complicating it. excellent design though hrtdoug hats off to you bud.
  19. like I said its a project for 12 months down the line I like the idea of the risk racing as they are remevoable plus the junior version I assume would be ideal for trial bikes just need guys to let us know how he goes on with his and his thoughts on the product.. my youngest lad [13] is showing an interest in trialing so will be taking him to an experience day in a month with myself and my eldest son [16] also there is a company in Yorkshire who produce a all aliuminum trailer for less than 3 grand and can customise it to your needs teales in Pontefract.so worth a look for anyone wanting a custom built affordable trailer . seems a good decent trailer but have not found any reviews for it though. http://www.tealeservices.co.uk/trailers/
  20. anyone any experience of using any of these to secure a trial or trials bikes. mainly thinking in the long term in regards to taking bike or bikes to france next summer I know moto cinch the guy passed away who invented it. but as I travel exclusively to france via Belgium overnighter from hull down to burgundy twice a year which can take take 10 hours + with stops I don't want to be stoping checking straps every 25 miles and those of you who have travelled the outer ring roads of paris would tend to agree. was wondering if anyone had used the risk racing set up to transport bikes long distances IE trials bikes.
  21. from what I have read on here I think they compare less with humanoids more with haemorrhoids being a right pain in the @rse to deal with
  22. I respect the guys ang girls at IPT than to do any thing like put cheeky bids in on there bikes anything like that is not my style same as selling the bike or trading in my gassa. my conscious wouldn't allow me to do anything like that. as to be brutally honest if my wife had not purchased me the bike and if the the guys and girls at IPT hadn't shown encouragement patients training me in the first place etc I wouldn't be posting this in the first place. anyways I will wait till Christmas new year and see whats available then beta 200 wise.
  23. I have plans to keep it or hand it down as I do have an emotional attachement to it . to be honest I wish I hadn't been on the bloody thing now I agree in regards to whats ben posted in reply I can only go off my experience I find I will have to throttle to hard on a 125 and have misjudged it it once or twice going up to the the peak of an hill not a pleasant experience for a lifelong warfarin user due to bruising a 250 I know would be or would make more hesitant to throttle up just as bad were as when I used the 200 it was like an example was the bike if I was on a climb the throttle response was a say a couple of clicks and and carried on climbing even if I was slightly heavy handed it didn't try to throw me off or rear up the front wheel . like has been said the price is down to there scaracity but also to them them a bloody good bike as well. one last question can you replicate the characterristics of a 200 beta and replicate onto another bike dumb down a montesa 315r or beta rev250 to be like a 200 . or am I better off just being patient and biding my time [i think so ]
