  1. If you want some help you had better post a photo of what you are talking about as your definition is confusing.
  2. That photo of Steve Saunders at the Butser world round also tells a valuable story, it was in the days before massive factory trucks and FIM meddling, everyone parked in a muddy carpark. His Fantic was not a lot different to what we could buy from the dealer, some local riders rode that same event on stock bikes (World round !). Massive crowds cheering Steve all the way, what fabulous memories
  3. A previous post mentioned youngsters pursuing a 'career in competitive trials' now let's get this all in perspective, I have ridden on and off for 40 years and every event is still 99% enthusiastic sportsman rather than potential career riders in fact we are talking probably one rider a decade per centre who is good enough to get to the pinnacle of this sport ( honestly it's even fewer ) That 99% of the entry do not care who wins the WTC it is totally irrelevant to normal riders, we ride to enjoy ourselves not emulate WTC stars otherwise everyone would ride Hondas and Ossa would never have sold a bike. Loose the WTC and all of its expense, pass the saving down to the riders get bikes back down to sensible prices, it's not long ago that a new GasGas was £3K, has your income doubled in the same period ?
  4. I think everyone rides the same route in the Scottish, it's oversubscribed but not by the top riders ! They always find a winner, Doug may be near clean and the last finisher in the big hundreds but it's proper trials everyone can relate to and ride.

    Evo 290 hole

billyt, I think he is looking at the big hole through to the gearbox,( you can see the gears), you are looking at the fixing hole on the gasket line ?
  6. Lots of alcohol available at the auction ! Never have a scotch at night then go on Fleabay.
  7. Was the bike running OK prior to this problem ? Has he fallen off and blocked the exhaust ?
  8. Was he unloading Shercos ? Joking aside be interested in your comparison to the GasGas, give it 6 months then back to a Gasser !
  9. Last special priced bike has now gone, the whole thing will be forgotten in a week and all will be back to normal. The original dealer who offered the low P/X with the excuse, is either inexperienced with the supply of last years model and its effect on the market ( ie typically small numbers and if it had not been raised as an issue on this forum who would have known about it )or did not want the business, plenty more dealers that do.
  10. A few riders down here recently switched over to Montesa as the offer was, I believe, about £5600 on interest free credit for a new bike. Montesas have always been the expensive end of bike sales so this move certainly gained a few customers down here and what's the difference between a 2017,2018 or 2019 Montesa anyway !
  11. Hi The Dabster, was that a typo 45mins ago re the value of a year old Beta, if it wasn't then surely that is a 2 grand hit ?
  12. The mistake must be with the Gasgas importer for bringing in too much stock, to be still trying to move 18's when the 19's came out last year shows something has gone wrong. If you have only been offered £3500 for your bike I would also suggest the dealer is trying to make too much out of it as all the 18's I have seen are well over £4000 really £4500. Suggest you try another dealer or is geography against you ?
  13. You can ride it in most trials in your centre as a novice on the red route. A Bantam suitably modified will be as easy to ride as your Fantic, a standard Big bike won't !
  14. Your listing says new to the sport and you have a Fantic 125 as your bike, that is not a pre65 eligible bike, do you have another ride ? A Fantic is a Twin-shock, will generally be ridden in the same class as there are insufficient entries of either type in this centre. Have you joined a club yet ? If not find a local one ( ACU listed clubs on their website or AMCA ) and start by doing club trials. You will often find various clubs share their club trials so by joining a couple of clubs opens up numerous invites to other events. If you are prepared to travel 40 miles you could ride nearly every weekend in the South Eastern centre in club and group trials. Until you have a bit of riding experiance I would steer clear of Centre events as they are not really aimed at the beginner. Check out Sidcup clubs website for their popular practice days, once you get started you will be spilt for choice.
  15. It has been mentioned in previous threads about the lack of available bikes in Canada but I would suggest the best route would be change the whole bike unless of course you enjoy a challenge.
  16. What's the series called and where do you find out about it ? Web site ? Good news, Sammy Miller series a definite loss to the classic scene.
  17. Thanks for that, Bou obviously head and shoulders above but Dabill is certainly mixing it at the top, well done.
  18. Thanks for the replies but still no set of results, er as in more than the podium riders, I do not even know who was riding ! Must be a bit disheartening for all the others ( there must have been others ) not to be listed or was it such a thrashing. Sure I saw some Brits in the photos, seriously, this is meant to be a major event in the Trials World so where is the professional coverage ?
  19. Nice set of photos and a couple of video clips but anyone got the results to post ?
  20. Looks like your shed is on a slope so why does it flood ? Is it just a leaking roof ,if so sort that out as you have the basis of a solid looking workshop. Get rid of all the crxp, spend a few quid (bucks) on the roof and possibly lining the walls and you have a man cave, next get the outlaws to lay on some power and you are good to go, the added benefit of somewhere to tinker when you need your own space. good luck

    Tlr Qs

Just seen a Honda C100 Hunter Cub on eBay with the same set up, it's in as new condition and includes a length of chain in the tool kit, you learn something everyday, no new tricks out there as this bike dates back to 1960.

Will the chain run on the smaller sprocket ? It looks to be more of a spacer or adaptor. It would give a massive rise in gearing, would the bike even be able to pull it ? I would be surprised if that was factory supplied.
  23. I thought I heard that as well but it looks too modern ! Ridden very well as does the 4 stroke Yamaha in the next attempt.
  24. What make of bike is that at 08.11 ? I am so glad we don't use their 'Clerk of course' !
