ouch - thought someone might mention that
Don't think so though
-
Took it in to Wrexham Radiators today. Bugger to find - seems bloody good bloke.
He said "what's it off?". I said a Sherco. He said "never erd of 'em". I said it's like a GasGas. He said "Oh right we've had a load of them in 'ere"
Well I thought it was mildly amusing anyway.
Before the GasGas crew try to lynch me, I know they're probably the same rads, maybe?
Must be just that you lot fall off more Doh! - I did it again.
-
You missed HL. Christ did you not drink?
Reckon my 04 Sherco might make it round to next year, and maybe make an appearance. I'm not tight (much), just never found a bike that would carry my butt for so long without complaining
Shame to not make it up this year, really enjoyed last year.
Many years to come.
-
Spot on - Cheers all. I'll have a go at getting it repaired in the week.

I stripped it off today, and cleaned up it looks pretty good. If anywhere, the leak looks to be where you mention, where the bars meet the bottom tank. It's had the right coolant, well actually VW stuff but I remember it was recommended by GasGas I think, 50:50 mix, or was it 25%, dunno, but mixed about a gallon a couple of years ago. Rad flushed through looks nice and clean anyway.
Jools mentioned somewhere local he'd had his done. If I can find them I'll try there, otherwise off to Gloucester.
Cheers.
P.S. Jools - Is this likely to be the place? Only one I can find (not in yellow pages - every bugger's stopped using them it seems):

Thanks Montaco. Looks like it's around the

My radiator sprung a leak yesterday. No visible damage, just seaping out.
Is it worth trying to get these fixed, or just delaying the inevitable?
My line of thought at the moment - Get a new one and I can put my mind at rest. Get it repaired, and I'll always have the concern that it can go again. Manx 2 day trial this year. Fairly big expense, just to do a few sections.
Anybody know what sort of price a new one is? Will phone our local dealer tomorrow.
Cheers

Beaten to it by Kinell. How did that happen? You got friends round again?
I'll console myself with the fact that old people always get up earlier.
Anyway, it looks normal to me Ishy, don't worry about it

Obviously Wayne recovered better than I did, although I suspect he may have been just a tad better in the first place.
I still argue that the NHS tried to save money. When they plated my legs they didn't bother with titanium, just cast iron.
I'd be 10 stone without the metal work.
-
Love the bit with the front wheel off. I know he doesn't use it half the time anyway, but it removes the ability to use it if necessary and somehow makes it seem so much more impressive.
Strangely enough, it's when he does the wheelie (actually moving) that it rings true how bloody hard it is.
-
3 and a half, but I lost a stone and a half of that as it impaired my ballet.
Never bothered to recover the rest of it. I grew attached to it. Was nearly ten years ago - I've had my chance.
Amazing what a sudden stoppage of exercise without a sudden stoppage of cider and curries can do

I've put a similar post up to this a while ago, and this is the next installment I suppose. Some of you may remember Sam Oliver. Used to ride around the Cheshire area, in fact Cheshire Champion in the C Class I think, and was riding the Inter route as a C Class rider.
Bit of a strange thing happened about the time he fractured his skull doing a nice little front flip from a pile of pallets on his little Monty. Strangely, after he got out of hospital and recovered, it seemed to fuel his addiction to the bike trials, and he's just about been training non stop since.
Earlier in the year he had a trip to the first round of the British Championships, and he did pretty well....in fact he did very well.....he won his age group! Not only that, he lost only 5 marks, leaving his nearest rivals on around 40 marks.
Great to see him progressing so well. Have a look at the vid below, and please rate the vid by clicking on the stars. Give a bit of a popularity thrust to a local trials rider.
Click here for the video - about 10MB but streaming so no big wait.

You don't need Photoshop, it's bad enough already. Very early section after a good night out - not looking my usual handsome self
I'm still too tight to buy a copy
By the way, who are them other no hopers? They'll put anyone in there!
-
If he didn't wear all the camo gear, the snake might **** off before he got there
-
Still got Dan's little PW50 in the shed along side his TY80, although I think the Rev50 will have less sentimental value when finished with.
-
Probably guilty. i don't do things in halves

Why did you start, or maybe what was the kicker that started you riding (Trials)?
Dad was always bike mad, introduced me to it. I used to think it would always cause my parents to divorce, but eventually realised it kept them apart enough to stay together
At about 17 years old, lost touch with trials through other sports and beer and "other things". 17 years on I was getting bored with fast bikes, and boredom kills. My kids flashed before my eyes one too many times, and the road bike was traded in for a trials iron.
Why do you continue to ride?
Still love it. My lad loves it. It's a relatively cheap buzz, and it keeps my life busy the way i like it.
And maybe the follow on question, what would get more people riding trials?
That's a tough one. We need to make it easier to get in to trials. Even though I considered myself a life long biker, it was difficult to get back in to trials. The web makes it easier. About 5 years ago I created a Yahoo group to help people ask questions about trials. The questions that I had when I started again. It still exists, but thankfully it lies dormant with about 80 members (although I think 20 of those addresses are now bouncing) who will more than likely push people in the direction of Trialscentral nowadays.
-
Thought it was earlier than 75, but I know better than to tangle with Big John on dates.
I had one in 77, my first trial on 1st Jan 1978 at Swainby, Northallerton, and I remember the Bullens had yellow ones before that, and at the same trial. I know John B is knocking round TrialsCentral somewhere.
I always swore they were the best tool to learn on, but just over the past few years I think the Beta 50 has just about filled the gap. I just wish the Beta had the poke that the TY80 has. It would be an awesome machine.
Anybody slipped a TY50 or TY80 engine in a Rev50 frame?

My Kliponoff has always bugged me. When it was new I should have drilled holes for the pinch bolts (but would it have been as secure???)
If you don't it crushes one tube within the other and makes it impossible to remove after the weekend.
Think mine was about

Had my dry old turned tyre from the garage to about 85-90 before it finally popped in to the bead the other day. I don't want you to do yourself an injury, so, I'll just say you should have absolutely no concern over taking a new tyre to at least 70 pounds. I do absolutely every time.
I wasn't too worried about 85 pounds in my old tyre, as there were no obvious splits.
There's always the exception I suppose, so queue the horror story from someone.....but wouldn't have thought so with a new tyre.
Make sure you get the washing up liquid in while the tyre is deflated, so it gets where it needs to do the work. Run your hand round the rim if you need to to make sure.

Hmmmm....Got a 5 on the hillclimb????
Graded hill....that's pretty hard to do.
Quite a few others got 5's too. I reckon I could have got my car past the 3 marker, wonder what happened there? Not that it makes much difference to my cricket score, but I would imagine the likes of John Crinson, who also looks like he managed to jam the brakes on just after the begins cards might be a bit miffed.

I'm sure Sammy is one of the biggest things that happened to trials over the years, but the miserable sod he had working for him in the spares department has stopped me buying anything off him for the past 3 years.
I'd rather go without. Most the stuff I'm after is available elsewhere.
It's so easy in Britain to excel in customer service, because most of it is so pi$$ poor, but drop below the basic level, and you can sod off in my book
To show that I'm not such a miserable sod Here's some of the people I've had excellent (well above the expected) customer service from. They're not ones I have to think of, they're things that I distinctly remember because they did Excel:
A&B Motorsport in Merthyr
GasGas UK
Malcolm Rathmell
Trialcast
Trialsbits.co.uk
Graham at David Jones Newtown - (I can take or leave some of them, but he's putting in the 100%, and importantly he's the trials man there).
Steve Goode

Yeah my Marathon training has hampered my riding a bit too
-
Did he manage to get it back?

In America at the moment, practicing Supermoto. Still looking for a ride for 2007 apparently, maybe SB maybe Moto GP.
