  1. Re your query I rarely use Bultaco Model numbers M80 etc
  2. Hi Yes your tanks will interchange - as will most other cycle parts - as long as Woody states you have the late 75 type If the bolt hole is at side - you are in business - but if tank is off the 74 type ( which also ran into 75 ) it will be one piece with bolt hole at top. The frames of ghe later 75-76 only really vary in the frame design just undeer the headstock - straight opn 350 - but slightly " bowed" on the 350 - but all other parts will interchange - as will everything else cycle wise
  3. Hi Sunny To fix your leaking forks
  4. MSM do a policy which definitely covers you when you are on the road - in a Trial ( or Enduro) Take care to check that the other policies do - else you may well be paying out your hard earned for something that is not what you want - and I know from experience they do not always make this clear
  5. Put stick in ground - approx 300mm high Stand a few yards away Get mate to ride past - at approxTrials section speed From your vantage point ( maybe someway off) See if it easier to determine when Front Wheel spindle passes stick? OR When rear wheel spindkle passes stick ? Before Front wheel spindle passes - view obstructed by - Front tyre( 2.75) / spokes ( see tthrough ??) Before rear wheel spindle passes - view obstructed by ? Whole machine ? Frame , engine, s/arm, riders legs if footing , chain , Rear tyre ( 4.00) chain guard and so on ?????? That should start some debate !!!!!!
  6. Sometimes amongst all the problems and expense of life - something just happens to make you just smile and realise things ain't so bad. Bo -drinker - you have my respect for best post of the year
  7. I think this idea may be more complicated than we assume. There are no ACU Doctors - only some Doctors who have taken out FIM licences to be able to officiate at World events etc. For rest of time they go about their normal jobs - and if this part of UK is anything to go by they are pretty busy - and we even often shut A & E in my town for " shortage" of Doctors - so if it is feasable to arrange some ar Rugby - especially to do ESG I am doubtful - but it is well outside my knowledge so I will make enquiries - but this may take some time. I am still more concerned at the fact that one would need such stringent Medical analysis to compete in a normal trial - and this is the avenue I wish to pursue first
  8. Guys I will look into all this on Monday All I can say for now is that along wth many others I rode in Spain in 2008 in Robregardo , and I certainly did not have an ECG etc - and I am fairly sure I paid
  9. Chewy Before I try to look into this for you, there is really some more info needed. a) I asume you are talking about riding Trials in France - not Enduro or MX < How many events planned in 2010 ?
  10. For some reason we seem to be getting reports that the Normandale - Traditional series is undergoing major changes, with classes being dropped etc This is not true - and has certainly not been gleaned from any official source. To date - No major changes in this popular and successful series are being planned
  11. I think this discussion may be getting a bit out of hand And while it is easy to criticise the views of Iow (and most of us have) - it would not be correct or fair to dismiss all he say
  12. Just a little more to add re the criticism on travel from IOW and unfair allocation of rounds etc I have checked this morning ( for it is not unkown for me to make a balls up over dates)
  13. Not going to get to involved in this one except to correct a few bits on nonsense. First - No
  14. Hi Motovita While you are checking many of the obvious things
  15. Sunny It really can be false economy to re use these bearings - if you have a good crank - and fit new new bearings - providing you put gearbox back together - you know you have a good bottom end - and any future problems can always be done with the motor still in bike. This is why I said if you really are strapped for cash - you could get away with ordinary 6205 ( without seals) or if your new 6205 has seals ( 2RS) just flip them out I know everyone tells you - correctly - to use C3 - but if you cannot locate them - use the 6205 - still better than putting old bearings back. C3 bearings should not cost you more than around
  16. Your picture looks OK - but as someone else has said make sure you tension K/start spring. Best way is to take off to two K/start gears ie the large one shown and the small ratchet one underneath. Put K/start on shaft and turn shaft until hook of k/start spring is just locating on the stem of shaft ( behind shouldered nut. Then turn the K/start one or one and a quarter turns around and place the ratchet gear onto the shaft as per your photo. Make 100% sure that you have the k/start spacer washer on top of the large k/start gear before you assemble cases. It is the only spacer in the whole of a Bultaco 5 speed set up - but is the one that often gets lost/missed out Flip the plastic seals out of your bearings if you wish to use these - as others have said you should use C3 - but to be honest it is not as critical on this motor as you would think - and while good engineering practice requires them - I have never had a problem with Bultaco motors on normal 6205 - and I have ridden and built literally hundreds of the things. If you can locate C3 at normal price use - if you are on tight budget you will get away with 6205's
  17. No Dixie - No-where do I or anyone else deny you should have a right to opinion. No -where have I said this. What I did say - What I do say and what I will always say , is that you have no right whatsover to equate those who happen to be involved with the Governing body with being " Officials" and now nothing about riders or riding. You are happy to quote that you rode Enduro's in the 80's - please have a look in the British Championship or any major event event programmes of these years - and you will see we must have been riding together - or for that matter in the programmes of many trials at about this time - so it cannot possibly make sense to imply that you have some sort of insight into what riders require - but others like me do not - I just cannot see the logic in any of that. Equally - you have absolutely no right to talk about " we" paying my wages - when you or anyone else does not. You certainly have no right to infer about European expenses etc -it will not take the Daily Telegraph to sort out any of my expenses - you are welcome to scrutinise at any time - as long as either of us is prepared to make a substantial donation to a charity of your choice should we be in the wrong. Additionally - you certainly have no right to tell me I am a " hobby motorcyclist" becuse I drive a car - this is just absurd. I too ride a motorcycle of some kind most days - and I too spent years and years on road motorcycles before ever getteing a car licence , but that actually means very little in the context of posts about FIM changing rules- which is the post you started. It does apear that after starting a post - which as others have said was leading to some good debate - you choose to go off on a tangent and tell me that I was missing the point - and somehow becuase I am an Official - that am more likely to miss such a point . The hard fact is - that I believe not one person who has read your posts has any idea what point it is you are trying to make. My initial reply - was to try to explain exactly what the position was to date - and how we had arrived there - and while this was obviously of no benefit for you - others may have felt that some background information may have helped the debate along. Now - I believe I am man enough to apologise to you if any way you have been miss-aligned - and without doubt you have clearly indicated that you are an active " doer" especially as an Observer rather than someone who just tells everyone else what to do. BUT - I honestly and sincereley - however many times I read you post do not understand exacty what you are trying to say . This is the crux of the matter - what exactly is your point - regardless of who is replying to you ?
  18. Dixie - You have totally lost me now You seem to honestly believe that all I say is from an Officials point of view - and that you speak from a riders point of view. I would hazzard a guess that you have never ridden anything like as much as I have. I would hazzard a guess that I still ride more than you do - so I lose track of your train of thought. You have managed to make me laugh howver when you state - You have to agree " we" pay your wages . No you do not - no-one pays my wages - and as I have stated on this Forum many times - No ACU Commitee person , No ACU Commitee Chairman, No ACU Chairman overall and no ACU Director gets paid - so for sure nobody is paying my wages - but the very thought of it has amused me - as well as you have amused me by saying that I see things just as an Official and not a rider - so I am going to forgive you for past missaprehensions and wish you luck in your future posts.
  19. Right guys Some interesting posts
  20. As the only person from the UK who actually attended the meeting in Geneva where proposals for future were actullay discussed - apart form reporting to the ACU Trials & Enduro Commitee you will notice I have not been involved in any discussions as to date - but have read with interest most of the posts - obviously there are differing views - and this is to be expected There are quite a few important points - the most important being that it will now be the FIM that will decide the way World Trials will be marked in 2010. That is their responsibility - and that is how should be As regards to ACU - as BettaBeta seems to take delight in talking through his rear end - perhaps before I make any further comments - and I re- state that I was there and know exactly what is what - I would ask him to explain to me - just a few simple points What has he ever organided? What has he ever done that can be regarded as a benefit for the sport ? How often does he ride and in what? What involvement doers he have in his local Club? Once I have some answers to those questions - I will without delay give the readers of TC an accurate account of what exactly is what John Collins ( like Mick Wren - not ashamed to use my name)
  21. Guys - as many of you asked - We simplified the ACU form
  22. Hi Uncle Dave I confirm for you that a Gold or Silver ACU stamp is not a requirement for a trials helmet
  23. I posted a week or two ago that MSM Insurance brokers offer a policy that will include road cover while you are on the highway in a Trial or Enduro. Not sure of prices etc - but at least you are covered. Most other companies ( in fact all I know of) are happy to take your cash, but then in small print you will find you are probably not covered if you are in an event - certainly I would check before handing over any hard earned to them. MSN is on 01279 870535 or Fax 01279 870636 If cost is OK it is good to support those who support us and have at least taken trouble to find out what trials are actually about - and not class them as " racing" Frankly if you have stumped up for a policy that excludes road cover when in a trial - you may feel you have paid for a worthless bit of paper - at least when in a competition
