  1. Sorry I wasn't referring to the bike in question I was referring to the use of established names like the BSA tracker, Brigand and Beaver, it was just a name. People bought the rights to names and they could pin them to anything.
  2. It never really worked back then . Triumph seemed to work, they have been taking on the big 4 for a while now even though they had to change the logo slightly. As for the Greeves, less said about that etc etc etc ......
  3. Just ordered some Falcons for my Bantam, gave them the dimensions they need to be and my weight, they will be made to order inside a week. Had them on a couple of bikes in recent years, good product made in the UK .
  4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220980804111#ht_500wt_949 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-MAJESTY-TY250-TOTALLY-ORIGINAL-370-MILES-NEW-TRIALS-BIKE-/270939034306?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3f153992c2#ht_1303wt_937
  5. They look like pattern road shocks, probably why the bushes have been bodged.
  6. Find out if the seals were done when the engine was rebuilt. Check all the above and do an oil change first, it may be due,use a good oil. don't worry about a little puff of smoke when cold, it won't hurt.
  7. Im intrigued to know where does the BSA part come into it, it's a modified Yamaha built by a bloke called Chapman ??
  8. Ride as is if you like, just keep an eye on the oil level. It should calm down after starting and warming up. You need a top end gasket set, some come with seals and some don't. may be worth asking these if their set comes with seals.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-HONDA-TLR200-TLR-200-TLM220-TLM-TOP-END-GASKET-SET-/350406189754?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5195d622ba#ht_888wt_754 As for stripping etc it depends on your ability, they are quite simple, if you have a manual even better. As I say engine needs to come out, familiarise yourself with the valve timing inc marks before you pull it apart. You will need a valve compressor to remove the valves from the head.
  9. Common on tlr's is valve guide seals, I have had 2 and they both needed doing. If after the bike has been stood for a while you start it and it smokes but then clears it will be them. Engine needs to come out. Valves will need lapping in and fit new seals.

  11. Looks like it'll be Bristol or Oxford, although they used to send people out for registering bikes years ago... http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Dl1/Directories/UsefulContactsByCategory/MotoringContacts/DG_10012974
  12. engine needs stripping and crankcases need machining to take new cylinder.

  14. I saw a list on another site stating Worcester may be for the chop as well. Dealt with them, they seemed okay. I would say the ones that survive will be busy.
  15. Part of the reason the country is in the state it's in, many of the staff are along for the ride and know jack about anything.
  16. In a nutshell...............
  17. We could go on all night, there are a lot of bikes out there for that sort of money, some here will say it's a better bike some say not. The Mont could be a bag of 5h1t , on the other hand it could be a minter ??? Personally I don't want water cooling (water's for making tea) and don't need a 250, others differ.
  18. Has anyone found an "off the shelf" front brake cable suitable for Bantam/Cub front hub, maybe off another t. shock bike?? Thanks in advance.......
  19. Like any off road bike you need to buy on condition. 1100 is about the going rate for a tidy bike you could enter in a trial immediately. Most have been owned by mature riders and / or occasional users so should be okay, just check the usual things and make sure the exhaust and carb jetting mods have been done. There are a couple on the bay at present....

  21. Cracking bike, as I said before. Pretty much as Rossy said, Cheap to run and maintain and they are holding their value now, no need for water cooling nonsense, it's a Yamaha TTR125 engine...
  22. One of the seat cover sellers on ebay who sells TY covers will knock one up in Maj colours apparently, got to be worth a call, as Woody says if you have a good base of course....
  23. You never mentioned you were building a Bantam ????
