  1. I am with Johnnyboxer on this. Nothing more annoying at some trials when the kids start hopping about as the queue grows, lots of revs , more hopping and a bit more noise then ....................5. Reason why the classic scene is busy in this neck of the woods I'd say. Good idea? Bad idea? Depends what you know??
  2. Not quite sure what 125 / 175 parts you have (3 speed ??), You may be better off enquiring on the BSA Bantam forum, go armed with engine numbers of what you have got. The majority of Bantam trials riders are using 4 speed engines which many use a TS 185 piston or Rex Caunts replacement, it takes capacity to 186 cc . Can't comment on the Mont head but I know a Fantic one will fit but needs quite a bit of work, it gives the advantage of centre plug head. Best to sort out exactly what you have first then go from there.

    1976 Ty 175

Sounds like many of the TY's that are left, had a bit of a hard life, they do tend to get hammered in their later years if in the wrong hands. A good carb clean and set up may sort that out after you have the correct air filter fitted. Probably needs a set of rings or at most a rebore, if however it sounds okay and pulls well I'd leave it for now. The beauty of these is there are plenty of parts around and I think most parts are still available, get it running properly first then take it from there.
  4. I have a Rex Caunt big bore piston in mine and had the barrel Fahron tuned for trials use which gives it a bit more grunt when needed also used Electrex world ignition. You could try to find a centre plug head which helps. Alternatively there is a rare B175 engine for sale on the classifieds page.......
  5. Can't comment on your trials as I have never ridden one, but why do you run on Saturdays?? I would have thought people arrange their trials for Sundays.(99.9%) If we ran on a Saturday I know numbers would plummet. Getting decent numbers to a trial in the recession is one thing but on a Saturday is another. Just my 2p worth???
  6. Thanks, there's a green from the cut off switch and one from the alternator i think??
  7. Had just filled the entry in when I heard. Hope Handly Childe will be okay not had the Bantam out this year yet.
  8. Just bolted engine into frame, I have wired up the wires from the alternator / cdi to the cdi box and coil. I take it the charging and lighting side of things can be ignored. Not got any sparks at present, does the kill switch need to be wired in ? Am I missing something? There are a couple of spare wires from the coil, they should be the kill switch, as I have no use for the bulk of the loom I will need to re wire the kill switch as it has the front brake light plugs on it at present. Thanks.
  9. Not sorted yet. OTF you need to empty your mailbox. Have sent you a msg via FB. We have a meeting tonight to try to sort things but no one round the table will be a wizard on the computer. Thanks.
  10. There are a couple of Bantams round here that were done for reasonable money, always "work in progress" type bikes. As OTF says depends on your level of skills and what you can lay your hands on etc. Usually the frame loop engine and maybe hubs are all that's used. A std frame can be modified, you need a new sub frame and swing arm or maybe use a cub s/arm. But as I said earlier I'd avoid the 3 spd engines.
  11. Down this neck of the woods the BMCA have a specials class so allows me to ride my Bantam with a Delorto and Marzocchis, I am going to bite the bullet to get the forks sorted, having jus come across some Roadholder sliders it would be rude not to mate them up with some other Marzocchis I have in stock. Also have a couple of Amals to try out.
  12. Excellent, thanks for the links / info.
  13. French maybe ?? http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/537468_360271044088085_418684785_n.jpg
  14. If it's a 4 speed then they are worth it, as OTF says prices can vary . As with most builds things can easily get out of hand.
  15. If it's a 3 speed don't bother. They aren't worth the effort.
  16. Rabie has it. we want to know how to work it out and get it down on paper to send to riders. Easiest way possible for now. We can look into the technicalities of it at a later date.
  17. We at Herefordshire Classic trials club unfortunately lost our club sec recently , he passed away a couple of weeks ago he was 45. He sorted the results and made a good job of it. Of course we left him to it and now we have a trial coming up and none of us have a clue how to sort results etc. We need a simple system for emailing the results and no doubt a few people still want them in the post. We do not have a web site but have a small FB page. I'm sure we can muster through if it's simple enough. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  18. I had a Fantic 200 for a short period, I fitted an OKO, it transformed the bike no end. At the same time I fitted 2 new coils.
  19. What twinshock is it ??? Some can be improved with better drums / plates ? Be a better bet and in keeping.
  20. I think Woodys answer should be used as a "sticky" I think they call it for when new enquiries re twinshocks come about.
  21. Spoke to Alan yesterday, can't believe how unlucky he was, a few minutes either way and things may have been different. I think it was for the van but the bike stuff could surface at any time, trouble is the local plod won't be bending over backwards to find it,as soon as Alans insurance pays for the van the case will be closed in their eyes.. it'll be a chance sighting by someone either at a trial or on ebay.
  22. They were made by a bloke in Bromsgrove, this is a link to my bike, currently using Marzocchis but sorting other forks out... http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/378306_353033208110710_508035606_n.jpg
  23. Confirmation through,, yokes are acceptable at this time.
  24. Calm down Charlie, seeing as the bike is close I may as well get it right...... You never know.
