Run by his family in his memory!
D.R. Smith was a real character...

I am not saying stainless spokes are rubbish, but the chap I get all my wheels built with is none other than George Spence, the finest wheel-builder in Scotland and a former racing motorcyclist.
He recommends no stainless for comp use!
That'll do for me!

I never use stainless spokes on a competition bike, always plated steel. Stainless spokes are too brittle and only for old road bikes or bikes for showing!
PM me and I'll measure up one of my original wheels, front and rear for you!

Yes you are completely correct Wayne it does indeed, that very swinging arm was in my sweaty hand this very evening! I was having a browse in the "Batcave"

I haven't heard of him for many years, haven't seen his name mentioned in any press reports and such, mind you he must be well into his 60's by now. Rode Greeves then Montesa around the time of the Don DR Smith era!

To counteract the apparent confusion about Montesa in the UK. I have recently received a message from a reputable trade source which confirms the story that Pidcocks Motorcycles Group Ltd are to be the sole UK Montesa dealers having had agreed terms with Honda UK. This has been an ongoing negotiation since late last year when Sandifords relinquished the importership of the Montesa brand.
Pidcocks are Honda, Triumph and BMW dealers and this is a new venture being the first time they have been involved in the off-road motorcycle market.

I believe they are available, but they are not cheap to buy!
Also you must be careful as they don't fit all models, depends which frame.
Contact Dave Renham at Bultaco UK for a price.

I think B40RT may have been being a little sarcastically humerous with his comments there earlier!
Its the same old song once again...
"I should get a ride because.........." (fill in the blank space and make suggestions which just happen to put the writer into pole position in a ballot!)
Anyway Woody, you will have a guaranteed entry at the Highland Classic at Alvie in June this year... don't worry! WHY? Because you are my pal and the Inverness gang liked you!! and you made the effort to come all the way up to Aviemore to enjoy yourself!

It was more the bit about "past winners of the Pre-65 Scottish" being effectively assured of an entry which was incorrect!
I argued that "past winners of the Scottish Six Days" was more like the accurate truth of the matter, and were looked upon favourably if entering the Pre-65 Scottish, hence Steve Saunders (also now well into his forties) riding this year on a Triumph Twin... that's the way to do it!
It all stemmed from one year, long time ago now, certain members of the Lampkin family didn't get an entry confirmed at the Pre-65 Scottish and of course all three brothers were past winners of the SSDT... FACT!

That would be telling!

I enjoyed the show very much, so did my son David. Whilst I do not always see "eye to eye" with my friend Alan Wright, especially when he writes totally incorrect comments on the Pre-65 Scottish! He puts on a very good show and has to be highly commended for his efforts at Telford, here's to many more of them.
However, my biggest problem was seeing everything! I bumped into too many good friends and the chat took over, next year I will wear a fake beard so to be not recognisable and be able to see more bikes and parts!
An old friend, Bob Pearson of Bob Pearson Racing offered me his 350 trials CCM for
