  1. Pretty sure Ralphs has a 110 main and 37 pilot Nick, not sure on the choke jet though yet, I will ask the big man tomorrow to see if he knows
  2. Nick, could be the wrong jet or jets in it, ralphs dellorto has been faultless for months now and he doesnt clean it out as much as the Mikuni. His starts easy from cold or hot and I am pretty sure he just drains the bowl every ride rather than blowing the carb out. He does use a Jitsie filter and seals the lid with tape to reduce the **** getting in. Hes not riding for a couple of weeks after sunday so I will see if I can borrow it and have a look for you inside re jet sizes, needle heights etc.

    Knock

Skid, higher the octane the less the knocking (pre ignition) probably nothing to do with carbon build up. Someone explained octane rating on here a while ago and basically the knock is caused by the fuel pre igniting in the cylinder under compression rather than the spark. Get yourself better fuel or octane boost and the problem should go.
  4. Jack, dont the 06 plastics fit the 04? I think Heath bought a black front mudguard for his earlier this year from a much earlier model as well. The 06 decals have a black decal that fits onto the face of the tank and SXS repsol decal kits are mostly black for the forks/swingarm and side frames.

    Beta Rev 2000

    Beta Rev 2000

Mikee, thats a 145 main not a 140 when you ring lampkins, try just the pilot first top end on your bike might be ok as it is. Make sure you check the plug to make sure the bike isnt running to lean and set the needle either back to standard or one notch leaner, dont lean it full out as you have now. What colour is your plug at the moment? balck and ****ty I bet, the 27.5 should make it run a nice dry brown colour as it should be. Once the plug is the right colour and the bogging has been cured dial out the popping if its still there with the mixture screw. Well worth the 27 quid for the boyesens whilst your doing the changes the old reeds may have seen better days after 7 years. I will see if I can find a setting for the timing on the 2000 rev3, the timing mark is easy to alter if its way off but I doubt it is anyway

    Beta Rev 2000

Mikee, try a 145 main and 27.5 pilot jet, keep the needle jet one up from the middle standard setting to lean the main jet and do a plug chop after trying the new settings. Most peoples Betas are transformed by these small changes. The Boyesen reeds also make a big difference to low down revs and pickup but next to no difference top end. The BPR5ES is the correct plug for the UK, as stated by Lampkins, the bike may also benifit from a good clean out in the exhausts and repack the silencer. Use the highest Octane fuel you can get, Shell V Force if possible (99) and a good 2 stroke oil (TTS/Repsol etc) Avgas is really good but only use it 50/50 with premium unleaded

    07 Sherco

Looks like I am going to make the change from many years of Betas to Sherco next month Whats the new 07 like to ride compared to last years bike? may go for the 250 over the 290 but will it lack abit of power as I did here on here the 250 was lacking abit? Also are there any mods that need doing from new? carb, suspension etc. I have been impressed with how the Sherco grips and how free the motor is after watching variuos riders on them this year Thanks in advance for any help Just

    2001 Rev 3

Like Barry said, stick a new plug in (BPR5ES NGK) and give the main jet another good blow out with the air line

    Beta Techno

This is from Lampkins site, shows a bit of info on the 97 Techno, hope it helps Lampkins
  12. Chad, 270 it is then, be perfect for that sort of riding it will pull 4th on hill climbs from nothing and has loads of torque, you might find top speed abit slow after the yz but easy to gear it up if you wanted too. Make sure youve got a renthal chain fitted as the cheap chains have a habit of snapping easily, more expensive but well worth it for the riding you want to do. Keep her running on good high octane unleaded and best 2 stroke oil you can get, might be worth richening it up a little if your blasting around for hours on end.
  13. Chad, if you like being stretched out like a flag for 8 hours on a sunday go for the 270 they can be a right handfull to start with and you might find you wont learn as quick as you would if as Barry said you started with a 200 or 250. Betas are reliable in general, good build quality and the parts seem quite cheap when you bust some. For most stuff and events I ride the 270 is way to powerfull to get the most out of it, but saying that it will come into its own some times on big hills,no run up climbs and the mud.
  14. Bruce, two companies linked below, one is a major UK dealer who deal with Beta (BVM) the other is the importer (lampkins) both are very helpfull and I am sure will have the answers you need. Good luck BVM Lampkins
  15. I ve heard lots of things about lots of bikes breakages and problem wise, but not a bad word about the 4rt? yes they need a little getting used to riding wise from what I heard but never anything about things failing. The monts have pretty much been the top for build quality and the 4rt has been around long enough now for any major faults to show. Personally I would go for the Mont, in my own view the Gassers fall to bits and some do have major problems, if you like keeping on top of your bikes and chucking parts at them get a Gasser they ride the best out of the lot but need looking after and a fat wallet. If I had the money I would buy a Gasser (My favourite bikes) but would only have one if I could afford a duplicate in the van for backup
  16. Cracking pics Barry must have taken a while loading that lot Nice one!!!!!!!

    Float Valve

Jack, if the bike runs not too badly half to full throttle it may just be the needle not closing the fuel off, it will flood up to half throttle abit as the excess fuel cant be used quickly enough. And make sure you put yer fag out before doing the fuel check

    Float Valve

Jack, test the float valve is closing/shutting the fuel off if you havent already. Remove the carb, take the float bowl off and hook up the fuel, very lightly hold the tangs so they close the fuel valve, if fuel is getting past could just be dirt or a worn seat/needle. Make sure the carb is at roughly the same height/angle as it would be if connected to the bike.
  19. Dads wondering what plug type to use in his 06 4rt? the plug is always very black as if the bikes rich or do you think a different plug is needed. I think the standard was a 6 but he has been using a 5 recently but its not made much difference. May just be this is how they all run though? Thanks for any help/info Just
  20. Good old Miguel hes about 67 now but still claims hes in his mid thirties? Be great to see Mladin and him in WSB getting there arses kicked but the big US money keeps them over there. Isnt it about time Ellison packed it up? Be great to see young Ben in World supersport soon dragging his elbows and shoulders round the tracks, hope he gets his chance
  21. Neo, the airbox will come out without removing the rear shocker but you will have to remove the silencer and mid-box. I cant say I have tried really hard to get the air box out without removing them as its just simpler and quicker to take the exhaust off. If the shock bolt is seized buy some good quality anti seize/penetrating oil spray and leave it soak over night, I usually find that if a bolt is stuck, tightening it very slightly to start with tends to break its hold then it will undo alot easier. Make sure you use a good fit allen key to get the bolt out and it helps if you attach a long spanner to the allen key to help with leverage, they are tight at the best of times.
  22. I got over it no problems everytime Pete, crashing the other side was my downfall
