    The stock skid plate is weak. I replaced mine and my son`s with the CSP before we even rode them. Pic in avitar.

    I think the 9 was over kill. That's like going to a 46 tooth rear. Puts you right in the middle of the power. If you look at a dyno of montesa power, the graph goes almost straight up from idle. I messed around, the 42 was almost good. A 43 was too low. So I ended up with a 9 and a 38. But I am on a 301 which is much quicker.

    The black is the slower throttle. Have you geared the bike down at all? Most do at least 1 tooth larger in the rear.

    Gas Gas announced a recall on all the newer mx bikes. The Braktek caliper has issues. Go figure.

    This was actually more of a problem on the 2004-2004 300cc models. Could be the position of the lever to over rotate. Due to the bart gear. Also getting the correct timing of the parts during assembly was critical. Jim Snell had great diagrams and video's on this.

    That`s a great idea. But a 301 that`s new needs to get a paper trail of issues before they refuse the warranty. The 4rt`s are competition machines, honoring any warranty is optional at best.

    You are crazy not to take it back to the dealer and let them warranty it. I don`t care how long of drive you think it is.

    Look under Montesa 4 ride oil filtration issues. It even has models and serial numbers. The side cover waz defective, which could also cause a blown seal. The oil has to go somewhere.

    What year. They just had a deal where the outside left cover was bad. The details are in this thread. Out of curiosity, just how did you figure that out with so low hours?

    Good trick question. Ajp went under. AJP made a better product. But Brakteh uses thier design in a different body. I use the old large body AJP. Mainly they are more dependable. But they use the same pistons more or less. The Braktec feels smoother when bled well. But I still get a firmer brake overall with the ajp.

    You need a 301. They removed most of the engine braking starting with the 2020 models. My son loves his 300 for the engine braking. He hates my 301 as it acts more like a 2 stroke.

    Nobody cares if Vertigo lives or dies. It would have been a nice `other` bike, But like the Ossa nobody wants a bike that might start!

    Not to worry about China made cars. In America we drive way too many miles for them to ever work. Besides no where to store the battery waste. The American consumer is already tired of the green dream. The car manufactures have thousands of new vehicles they are never going to sell.

    Been riding Beta`s since 1990. Though I switched to Montesa when the new 301 came out. Just switching back and not had the pleasure of multiple plates. So I can`t answer that question. All Beta`s seem to have the cold stick issue. A lot of that has to due with oi[ and clutch drag. The best way to remove drag is to shim it.

    The TL is very, very heavy. It can do the easy line well. And like it`s been said makes a great trail bike.

    You need to give more info. You have a 2024 or a hammered 20 year old bike. Is the 4rt new to you. What actually happened!

    Sounds like it`s not venting. Take a pic if you can.

    The only thing Torrot shows was the 125 took a 52 pilot jet. So what elevation are you riding at?

    You are in trouble. That is all F'd up. Looks like a new crank will be needed.

    So So you did know the '22/23 models do have a fuel pump issue. Lots of them had to be replaced. The 301 is very critical to rpm idle. I have more than most as I ride from 2500 ft to well over 13000 ft elevation. Intetesting read though , thanks.

    With all this thought and logic, what are you trying to figure out? At 1700 rpm the bike is not producing enough current. The bike is happier near 2000 rpm.

    That`s long ago now, Maybe 2013.

    We had a member replace the whole transmission at 7 months. I want to say it was a 2012. Always something with the Pro motor. Great motor when it is running!
