  1. You might ask yourself why trials is the only sport that uses magnets. Total piece of crap. Plenty other methods available to have a dead mans switch.
  2. Sounds like you cleaned it with carb cleaner and the gaskets swelled on the needle and seat. You have to dismantle every part off the carb and then clean. I usually just use contact cleaner to avoid those issues.
  3. There are two passages. One directly under the slide and one in front of the slide. The choke circuit also can make it run bad. Make sure all the lines in the float bowl are clear too.

    Breather pipe

You might try routing it up. It is the vent for the transmission. If you ever in the clutch side make sure the center bolt holding the clutch on is hollow. A hole is through the bolt.
  5. So what is the problem? The head might have the insert. That o ring can go bad.
  6. An easy check of the fuel venting. Tank vent and carb vents Anything can happen.
  7. I would of swore the 2002 -3 pros came with ajp's with dot 4 . Either way both the m/c and lower seals need to be compatible. The lower clutch could have been replaced. Probably best to go with both set for mineral oil. Good luck.
  8. Yeah, there is nothing wrong riding a twun shock. My problem I grew up in the 70"s as an expert and just love to prove to modern riders what they can do. Its not good for me or the bike! Most vintage trials are made for more apropiate sections, but not all. It is far easier on a modern bike. A 1998 is not a modern bike.
  9. I will be buying my grandson`s used Beta evo 250`s for next season for the same reason. They are the most forgiving bikes available.Should be the last bikes I buy for them. 14 and 15 and they just love it. I have more boys coming along.
  10. Well a Beta 200 is the best selling clubman bike for a reason. I will be buying my grandson`s used Beta Evo 250`s before next season for that reason. The Beta is the most forgiving bike currently made and has been for years. Good luck.
  11. Way cheaper to get the hebo fork tank or just carry fuel. The bike can do almost 15 miles stock.
  12. Why don`t you just get the proper rebuild kit for the m/c? Or did you try that already?

  14. Probably the death barble. You need a set of security torx to take the jet tower off. The original oring shrinks. Best to order a replacement oring from Oko carbs as they are slightly thicker.

    Beta Techno 352?

The 352 was a mold stamp, not cc. There was never anything bigger than a 260 until the 98 Beta came out, and that was delivered as a kit in a box since it was late in the manufature process.
  16. I know that sounds crazy. But my son rode his first trials at 30 months old on a gas powered bike. The next decade he got many different bikes as he grew. He was a big kid, so his mom had him playing basketball all the time. Finally at 13 he just decided be had some balls. After all he was very athletic and over 6 foot tall. It just snowballed that day. Started off on 4 foot ledges and finished off riding all the expert and Master sections I could remember. It was awesome for me as I hate basketball and hardly went to watch him play. LOL.
  17. Yes, stay after the event. Try, try again and again. Great suggestion. I taught my 13 year old son how to ride expert in 2 hours. He moved up two classes the next event and never looked back.
  18. No, no riding before events. And at some events you cannot even see the sections. Trials is not a local round e round course. That is called cheating. You just need to learn the skills. The reason I do not need to practice is I have the skills. Not only that I find lines that 95% of riders never see. Trials is more mental at that point. Good luck.
  19. https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/the-montesa-cota-4rt-thread.565300/page-180 I changed to a csp before I ever rode my bike. Cut the rubber and siliconed in place. To give access to the side cover gasket withou removing the skid plate. Just installed longer bolts in the rear.
  20. I am just the opposite. I love to ride the events. Practice pretty much not at all anymore. Started riding trials in 1972, went to expert un '74. Thousands of hours riding. Really enjoy just riding a well set event. Dropped down from expert 2 years ago, just can't crash well anymore. I have started to just quit events if they are not enjoyable. I can still ride some of the hard stuff, just hate the stuff that was set that a bike cannot fit. Its a motorized sport, not a pushing competition. And I especially hate riding in groups or score your own events. Trials is an individual sport. If I wanted to just ride with my friends, i can do that for free. Yeah, I also tried just riding what I wanted to in the sections. It confused the scorers and p****d off the organizers. But it was not competitive. I ride against a bunch of old experts. It sure is fun from the mental side of things. Makes me feel younger again, at least during the event! But you should ride what you are capable of. Riding way over your head should be done during practice. It is fun to push yourself though. Yes, it is much easier to just ride in my yard anymore. It is 75 miles to our clubs main riding area. By an hour and a half of full on riding I can call it quits. My son learned all the cool moves right in my front yard on the fanous rt 66. 100's of hours of practice without going anywhere. My 2 grandsons will be over in the morning and just love trials over anything in thier lives. 14 and 15 years old. They play baseball and basketball, plus live as cowboys on a large famous ranch. Gotta love riding. Next event next weekend!

  22. The pro came out in 2002 and gas gas still had the standard edition Txt. You have the pro model engine.
  23. Thats funny. I just aquired one myself. I remember it was rode in an event about 2009. It was FREE, I might someday see if it will start.
  24. Not to worry, Raga rode right over it everytime. Just his last loop it went flying. Did not matter that day as he won the event! We all love watching Bou, but its good to see another rider get a wn. I doubt Raga will ever get a win again. He has had a great career! Thanks for the memories Adam.
  25. They may not be correct compared to the stock bearings. I have had them in my 301 for 18 months and still tight as the bike was new.
