  1. I always ran atf. All hydraulic in the 97 was dot 4. One of my favorite bikes.
  2. When we had a leak, the black plastic appeard to have been the cause. Time well spent!
  3. Are you sure the engine has fuel?
  4. Tip, small amont of soap to water. It hardly takes any moisture to work. Wipe excess right away. Just did stickers Sunday.
  5. Really, you guys are replying to a 4 year old post? Lol
  6. Chances are your 1986 is not a TLR but a Reflex. You should have counted the links and a trials bike should not use an o-ring chain.
  7. People usually rent the brand they ride. LOL Amazing the come back KTM has had with TXT range. The new 2025 models look awesome. And they don't plow.
  8. The steel fork tube story came from the importer. Not me. But I have a theory why only 9% of the riders in this years Scottish are on a TRRS!
  9. My son loved his Beta 4T. We ride from 2500 ft to 13000 ft elevation. So alot of jetting is required. Carb work is a bitch on the Beta 4 stroke, besides the manifold rubber breaks alot. When he got rid of his TRRS (which he bought, since I talked him into it) and fancied a return to a 4 stroke Beta he eneded up with a Montesa 300 RR.
  10. Take a look at the bike count at this years Scottish for your answer of which bike to ride. Myself if all I rode was wet, it would be a 2 stroke Beta 250. The 4 stroke works well too. Beta 87 Gas Gas 2nd with 47 Vertigo 47 Montesa 30 Scorpa 27 TRRS 26 Sherco 24 P.S. I really love my Montesa. But we ride big dry rocks most of the time. If I ever change brands again it would be a Beta.
  11. At least the wheels and forks, which include the calipers and triple tree. If you plan on keeping the bike forever, I always antisieze the spoke nipoles too. Sounds xtreme until you start breaking spokes.
  12. Phbl is probably the easiest. And it is actually better in some ways than the PWK. Otherwise you will need different connections. Air box to carb and maybe intake. Hopefully someone that has done it will chime in. We are talkining a 3 decades old design.
  13. Cut that spark plug wire 1/2 inch to some fresh wire and try again.
  14. Glad you had fun. Try reaching out on Adv rider. Go to the trials forum. No events during the week, but you might find some riders to hang out with.
  15. Depends if it is a fuel screw or air screw. Simple, usually air is on the air inlet side of the slide towards the air box. More air for leaner (out) or less fuel (in).
  16. Actually the weight bias front to rear is off. That is why they put steel fork tubes on the TRRS originally. Pushes way to often. But it balances brilliantly!
  17. Well made, easy to work on. Easiest starting bike. Was no need for the push button. Good tough plastics. All the right components. The bad. Just a tad too small of fuel capacity. They have always had water pump seal issues. And the front end is too light.
  18. But back to Rosshoss problem. The 9/44 does what you are lookinng for. 2nd gear is now your normal first. Its way faster than stock 1st was. Third is your new second and its exactly the same ratio as the stock second. You would consider the first gear a granny low for only super tight work. Sure you will lose a little top speed. But luckily you prabaly rarely used up 6th gear. Good luck!
  19. I know how it works. Used ro always ride in second and third alot more than I do now. When we went to the all day dab, the sections got even tighter. The bikes have gotten better and they all come with a really tall first gear. Which makes it very quick and fast enough to get over most obstacles. I think the NATC had some of the ride off film on the facebook page. Worth a look as it was crazy busy. And it sure would be fun to ride with you someday to show us how. I bet you are crazy fun to ride with!@
  20. I was not there, unfortunately. Still a 500 mile drive. But I did get to see an live feed. The ride off was awesome!
  21. Thats just too funny to respond too. You should watch the ride off bettween Pat Smage and Tobi on the Montesa 301. That section was so hard I bet they both rode in first gear. And you are telling everyone to ride in third gear! LOL!!!!!!! You should give the top riders lessons!
  22. That is spot on. 9/44 is the sweet spot. First is only used rarely. 2nd is used most of the time. Why this gearing makes sense is third is exactly the same as the stock second, which means 4th is just taller than the stock third. But you have to keep that thought in your head at all times. I had someone tell me this and I ignored it. Had been a Beta rider since 1990, always just used 2nd. Had a 2016 factory and the gearing drove me nuts. Got up at 3 a.m. one morning and computed the gear ratio`s. Now I ride a 301 Montesa, I run a 9/38 That will confuse the hell out of the 4RT guys!!!
  23. By the way, yrials riders levers are almost 90 fegrees to the ground, so we can have a finger on each at all times.
  24. TOBY won both days, but barely. Pat tied him Saturday with a clean day. They had a ride off in a really knarly stream bed section. They both three it the first ride. Jitsie will have a video of it. Sunday Martyn had 1 point. Pat had 5.
