Funny, I went back to the short lever. All is well being I am short too
Worst thing is I had it in my spares all along!
-
No, I am saving all my original parts for when I sell it.
-
The boy had a bad grounding problem. Take apart any electrical and clean up. All the bolts on the magneto if you can get the flywheel off. Just clean anything you can get to.
-
Yeah,my little boy is about 104kg and 6ft 6. He moves his 300rr like its a toy. He just loves his 300, but hates my 301. Its too quick for his style.
-
I have given 4 suggestions. And you cannot even figure out its the wrong carb. Good luck, find a friend.
-
At 18 years old, the Montesa would not have been my first choice. It`s a fine bike. Well built and very planted can do everything, but is heavy. No matter what anyone says. And I ride an amazing 301. Still heavy. But at 64 it makes me smile every time I let it rip!
-
First off that is not the stock carb. That vent line, does it have a hole in the middle? If not cut iy in half, its not venting. Take the carb apart and blow contact cleaner threw that hole to verify.
-
Is the cable holder in the top of the slide missing, out of place letting the needle to move freely?
-
I have no clue what that is, but that bike has the wiring run wrong. That is why it is so twisted looking. I would turn that adjuster back a full turn counterclockwise and start it again. I leave my bike running just above 2000 rpm`s.
-
The 4T has it`s own throttle. You want more power buy an arrow exhaust and use the clutch!
P.S. Its a vacuum style carb. Like a street bike.
-
Did you ride it and it started leaking. The seals should only leak from the worn bushes while actually doing something. Are you sure you got the levels right?

Teather switches are all over ebay, amazon. The better ones are on racing sites. I use one that I bought for this purpose in 1996, but never opened the package till 2016. Its a ATV racing one made in Sweden.
Our national rules have been revised as its has to be a teather that kills the motor. Nothing about being a magnet or being strapped to the wrist. I prefer it attached to my pants buckle. No stupid 5's this way.
I have seen the magnet fly off just by a hard hit. That would be reason enogh other motorsports never adopted the magnet. Dangerous as crap at speed.
-
You might ask yourself why trials is the only sport that uses magnets. Total piece of crap. Plenty other methods available to have a dead mans switch.
-
Sounds like you cleaned it with carb cleaner and the gaskets swelled on the needle and seat. You have to dismantle every part off the carb and then clean. I usually just use contact cleaner to avoid those issues.
-
There are two passages. One directly under the slide and one in front of the slide. The choke circuit also can make it run bad. Make sure all the lines in the float bowl are clear too.
-
You might try routing it up. It is the vent for the transmission. If you ever in the clutch side make sure the center bolt holding the clutch on is hollow. A hole is through the bolt.
-
So what is the problem? The head might have the insert. That o ring can go bad.
-
An easy check of the fuel venting. Tank vent and carb vents Anything can happen.
-
I would of swore the 2002 -3 pros came with ajp's with dot 4 . Either way both the m/c and lower seals need to be compatible. The lower clutch could have been replaced. Probably best to go with both set for mineral oil. Good luck.
-
Yeah, there is nothing wrong riding a twun shock. My problem I grew up in the 70"s as an expert and just love to prove to modern riders what they can do. Its not good for me or the bike!
Most vintage trials are made for more apropiate sections, but not all. It is far easier on a modern bike. A 1998 is not a modern bike.

I will be buying my grandson`s used Beta evo 250`s for next season for the same reason. They are the most forgiving bikes available.Should be the last bikes I buy for them. 14 and 15 and they just love it. I have more boys coming along.
-
Well a Beta 200 is the best selling clubman bike for a reason. I will be buying my grandson`s used Beta Evo 250`s before next season for that reason. The Beta is the most forgiving bike currently made and has been for years. Good luck.
-
Way cheaper to get the hebo fork tank or just carry fuel. The bike can do almost 15 miles stock.
-
Why don`t you just get the proper rebuild kit for the m/c? Or did you try that already?
