  1. There is alot of things that has gone wrong with an older 4rt as alot of parts. Start with the simple and work ghrough it. I thought thefe was a thread on the TPS. Also disconnect the kill switch and also a thread on the angle bank sensor. The list goes on and on.
  2. Yep, the 4rt is very picky if you start it and just ride off cold before the ECU does its thing. It does not happen often, but it sure sucks in the middle of a section.
  3. As long as you ride it like a trials bike you can easily run 100:1, but 80 is just safer and 66 is just so wrong. Yeah, you should not be racing.
  4. How about your dealer. Our bikes come race ready out of the box, nothing to change.
  5. Do a reset first. Hold throttle all the way open, without releasing kick it twice. Close throttle and start the bike. No throttle and let it run for a whole minute before you twist the throttle. If that does not work adjust the throttle body one full turn counter clockwise. Try again, no throttle. Good Luck.
  6. Find the leak, patch it or replace the tube.
  7. Best to biy a modern sticker kit. You will be fine until you go over the bars.
  8. https://www.louis.eu/en-eu/magazin/rund-ums-bike/schraubertipps/tuev Cannot be possible to drive off with side stand down.
  9. That is a safety feature mandated by the E.U. DOnt you love it!

    16" wheels

How tall and how old is your grandson? The taller wheels go over obstacles much easier. You are making the obstacles harder thinking you are doing him a favor. All the little bikes actually suck. I went through this with my son and he rode his first event at 2 1/2 years old and now my grandsons went to full size wheels and they are on the short side. It`s just amazing how much better they ride with full size wheels.
  11. I know of 4 trials riders that have done that for a living. They all had over 100 competitions and were top riders in there class. Two men and two women. Two of them made a career out of it. Good luck! Any new model of bike would do. You would need to add your location.
  12. If you have only ridden trials for a year go with the best advice and buy the cleanest stock ty175 you can find. There are still barn finds nation wide. Then if you like it, slowly trick it out. I am on the sick side with a stock TL250 and a modifed TL300. Both heavy as hell. But if you find a clean SWM it was one of the best twin shocks ever!
  13. Years (decade) ago I bought a like new 2004 300 Raga from a friend that had the same starting issue. It sat more than it was ridden. How hard can it be I thought, I have ridden every brand of bike in my 5 decades of riding. I ended up having my son start it for me. It ended up being his bike. 2 years later he got a new Sherco. Finally I figured out the starting, one or two kicks. Ever try starting a 300 Vertigo?
  14. A bearing separator and a press is the easiest way. Or a full separator kit.

    John

    The needle jet fell out.
  16. Dunlop TL01 will be out in 2023. Looks to compare to the X11.

Main bearings and seals and check the exhaust. The 2013 has the rear mounted tank? Fuel pump/vacuum issue.

    Handle bars

Almost every dimension is somewhat different for a reason. The shorter the better. Check Renthal as they are about the only one`s that post all dimensions. Best bar to buy hands down.
  19. Well my son had a 2015 Beta 300 4t that he loved and he had all the trick bits on it. He sold it and bought a 2018 Trrs 300. Did not get along with it and wanted another Beta. I told him his mechanic is not working on another Beta 4t carb. He bought a leftover Montesa 300 rr cheap. He is happy and so is his mechanic (dad).
  20. Your oil has a lot to do with it and lowering the amount helps to. I have used ATF in my Beta`s for 3 decades. Drop your oil quantity by 50-75 cc. The shim will take away the drag, but will not cure the cold stick.
  21. I am betting on the fan. Did you ever wire it to run all the time? It's old enough to be replaced. The biggest problem with a worn out fan, is it does not always start.
  22. There have bern many small changes every year. The only real problem besides being a 4 stroke, the carb is hard to work on.
  23. That`s hard to remember when we ride from 3,000 to 13,000 ft all the time. My home is at 6700ft.
  24. You need a 36 to 38 pilot and might want to go up one size of main jet. When you clean the carb you need to make sure the pilot circuit and the choke circuit blow clear. Good luck.
