2018 Montesa 4rt no start
It does not make enough current if is to low. Hence not starting. I set mine to start at 1850 and let it idle for a few minutes. I never take off until it stays between 1900 and 2050. Nothing worse than a 4rt when it starts running like crap. I bought my tach before the bike. It took me about 14 months until I installed mine. Now a believer. 1750 is too low, unless your tack is off.

clutch disengagement
The pressure plate only goes together one way. There is a notch on one of the fingers and a corresponding notch. Been a long time for me to give a better description.

Back to 2 stroke
Riding the SS reminds me of riding a late 90`s bike. My last 250 I just loved the user friendly power. It was a 2016 Factory. Every time I see that bike I wonder why I sold it!

Titanium front pipe for better cooling? Does it works?
It makes for a cool looking pipe.

Plug colour and backfire when hot starting....
Having a bike like that can dfive you nuts. Next time it happens try removing the gas cap to see if it's a venting issue. Or if you are brave enough, lay it on the ground until fuel comes out the over flow. And see if that helps. Ps do that close to home or the pits in case it won"t start. I have a 2008 125 that my grandson rides. I am sure glad its an easy starter. Good luck.

Plug colour and backfire when hot starting....
You might tell us a little about your bike. The color of that plug has little to do with a poor starting Gasser.

Plug colour and backfire when hot starting....
Alot of gassers over the years have had this issue. Sometimes it' the carb, a few times its a venting issue. But me thinks you are missimg half the plug!

2018 Montesa 4rt no start
Where, did you come up with the 3 1/2 turns. ALL you had to do is 1 turn out. The idle needs to be above 1900 rpm. Buy a tach.

Beta factory radiator
Yeah, that lower mount is broke. That is why the top does not work.

2018 Montesa 4rt no start
First thing is to start with the easiest tning first. Turn the idle screw one full turn open (counter clockwise) and again do the reset. As far as the tank there is a quick connect connection on the hose. Had to take a friends tank off after his son decided to fill the tank with a handfull of dirt.

Gate Trial Rules - Variations?
The last time we had a Gate trial, it was a fund raiser for a 17 year old girl to go to the TDN last fall.

GasGas Rookie 80 2008
The rookie 80 was a great bike for my son. I would say due to parts I would pass, unless it was cheap. I bought a 2021 Beta 80 for not so cheap, already on to the second grandson. Both 80's are great bikes, but a 125 will grow with them much better.

Let us know how you get a long with it!

Gate Trial Rules - Variations?
It's meant for a fun day for everybody. If we did it all the time it might not be fun!

Gate Trial Rules - Variations?
Exactly, we do the 5 as easiest and the 1 gate the hardest. This makes it equal for riders across the board. We do this about twice a year.

TRS vs Beta - subjective feel differences?
We popped the waterpump seal at a 80 mile 80 section 2 days trials with average elevation 9500 ft. And yes I know riders that have bought more than 4 new Trs's our club has about 20% Trs's now which is about the same for Montesa. Our best rider has been on a trs since 2019 now. But then again he was a great bike trials rider. ( He has gone to the world championship ) 3 of us that rode Trs's bought new cota 301's We have 125 years of riding together and alot of serious riding in. All of us had the same opnion. I still think the trs was a great addition to the trials community. Great bike, with less quirks than most.

TRS vs Beta - subjective feel differences?
In the loose stuff the Trs has a mind of it's own. All of a sudden it takes off, but I would still be clean. The Beta is rock solid in a section, besides it still has the best ground clearance and fuel range. In my 51 years of trials I have owned more Beta"s than any other brand, and I have had them all. Good luck in your decision. Every time I see my 2016 Beta factory at an event, I wonder what I was thinking.

TRS vs Beta - subjective feel differences?
By the way I did ride the 300 rr for about 9 months until my Montesa 301 finally showed up. I did give the TRRS a fair try. I went from too light a front end to too heavy! I would have bought a 300 Gold instead of the Montesa, but the front end was just to vague and did not inspire confidence.

TRS vs Beta - subjective feel differences?
All Trs issues here. https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/calling-out-trs-owners-questions-things-to-share.1288338/ It does do most things better than a Beta. If I ever buy a 2 stroke again it would be a Beta. Hopefully Beta upgrades the Evo soon.

TRS vs Beta - subjective feel differences?
I talked my son into having the first TRS in our club. Great bike except two things. The front end is too light, which causes it to push. They also tend stall for whatever reason. Mechanically sound, but still having water pump seal issues and the air filter is not as easy to get to as it should be. At your age the e button might be great, but the Trs is the easiest starti ng bike without it.

What does Cota stand for?
M.B. probably knows. I need to ask him next time I see him!

What does Cota stand for?
In 1968 it was the first year of the trials bike. Which the model was Cota. What cota meant in 1968, is probably different now. On the plus side my new german shephard puppie is named Cota.

Online suppliers
At the moment International shipping is not happening. My order from the 9th is still in the same spot. And I do order from the UK all the time. The uk is great for brake pads, levers and sprockets, and hydraulics. If you want something fast in the usa its trials super store. If you want a better looking site. Its the trials store. If want something hard to find try the tryals shop.
