2020 Montesa 4rt 260 side stand spring orientation
Everyone should have a spring puller. You do not need the inner spring.

New (old) member, looking for advice
Ride what makes you happy, but the newer bikes are easier to ride and softer on an old body. I am 63, ridden trials for 51 years. I have plenty of old bikes. We have a vintage club that I have always supported, but I ride my modern bike instead of a proper vintage. The club would not exist, without the modern class riders. The old bikes just beat you to death, but a lot can be learned on a twin shock.

The Beta Clutch Fix
The older bikes the plates would stick every morning. Once unstuck the bike worked fine all day. You just had to warm them up, maybe ride a few minutes with the clutch in. You might be chasing your tail, being that was normal. I loved my '97. Still got Dougies pic on the wall.

Objecting the NON-Stop rule in European Championships
Yep, thats been in the works for awhile. An A.I. transponder. The sport of trials does not need to be more complicated!

Montesa 4rt 260 2020 Bash Plate
By the way, I use the slotted timing screw to fill the oil. It works better to replace it with the CSP cap. You can see it in my last pic. I changed my oil last night and remembered.

Doug Lampkin DL12 screw up
Putting on an event is hard enough. Broadcasting is another story. Chances are Jitsie or another source will actually record it, edit it and make it worth watching. Live events are not always entertaining to watch.

Txt pro, stator plate condition , coil damage??
Are your main bearings bad? Put the flywheel back on and see if you have some play.

2021 TXT 300 GP rear shock question
What you should do is put the spring to the same length as the stock one was when bought and go from there.

Montesa 4rt 260 2020 Bash Plate
I did the full carbon fiber case covers, after a friend cracked the left side case by the oil passage at the top. Hairline crack, but he had to get towed back to the pits.

Montesa 4rt 260 2020 Bash Plate
The stock guard is fine. I waited six months for my bike and in the mean time bought all the CSP bling except the foot peg brackets. The frame at the brackets is the weakest link of the whole bike. Better to bend the stock bracket. The bolt was just long enough to add a nut to. To change the oil filter just back off the bolts and remove the small rubber along the case. I silicone the pad back in place.

Montesa 4rt 260 2020 Bash Plate
I replaced with a CSP before I even started the bike. Biggest thing is the stock plate is too thin. Also look at how I cut the pad as to just remove the pad doing oil changes. I also put longer bolts in the rear, no need to remove the plate ever again.

Engine/gearbox oil 250 2t 2009 evo
Always ran ATF in my Beta`s for the last 32 years. The lighter, the better due to clutch action.

How to tell if a bike is a 125 or 250
Pull the front header pipe, you should be able to get a rough measurement of the bore.

New to Trials, would love some advice!!
All along hwy 50 is tons of trials area to ride. Many if the RMTA club live from Pueblo to Salida. Also you might try Mountain West Vintage Trials Association to. Very laid back club that half the members ride modern bikes. Check out Turkey Rock for an area to ride. ITs BLM property in Howard.

4RT has fuel (wet plug) and spark but won't start...
That is why in the states we go out of our way to run race gas or ethanol free fuel.

4RT has fuel (wet plug) and spark but won't start...
There is alot of things that has gone wrong with an older 4rt as alot of parts. Start with the simple and work ghrough it. I thought thefe was a thread on the TPS. Also disconnect the kill switch and also a thread on the angle bank sensor. The list goes on and on.

4RT has fuel (wet plug) and spark but won't start...
Yep, the 4rt is very picky if you start it and just ride off cold before the ECU does its thing. It does not happen often, but it sure sucks in the middle of a section.
