  1. It goes through fairly easy without removing the swingarm, did one a few months back. Run string or wire to pull with.
  2. There is a reason the Beta is the top selling Bike in the World, 2 stroke wise. The Gasser and Trs feel great in the parking lot. The Sherco is cursed again with FI. The Montesa is built like a rock, but you do feel the weight. Good luck. Parts for all bikes are at worse a week away.
  3. Your legs are not supposed to be hugging the bike!
  4. The top hat holds the spring in place at the end of the shift shaft under the clutch basket. It is made to shear to save the shift shaft. Otherwise you might need a new shift shaft.
  5. They went to a new pump in 2016. Must have changed suppliers in 2022.
  6. https://www.usmontesa.com/ Contact him and see what he can do.
  7. Never did say what year the bike is. The 2022 has fuel pump problems.
  8. 1850 when starting. Always let it think about it before you take off even when warm. I always wait for the idle to hit iver 2 k before I ride off.
  9. Have you installed a tach on your bike? That is the easiest way to keep it running right. I keep my 301 running between 1950 and 2150 idle after warm up. You also have to reset the ecu first.
  10. We have just the opposite. I think we had the 3rd hottest July, and our event tommorrow got canceled one week ago due to fire danger. Phoenix just finnished 31 days over 110 degrees. We are used to cold nights, usually low 50's rhis time of year. Lately it has been above 70 at 5 a.m
  11. The magnet is a very dumb device. It can fly off with a hard hit, a small branch, bush, or just waving at your friends wife. I tossed mine right away and run a real teather and a kill switch. The NATC has changed the rule from being a wrist strap device. I prefer it attached at the waist. No accidental fives and I am hands free. My bikes on the left and I changed the strap out to a short red one. I cand buy the lanyards online 2 for 10 dollars.
  12. Actually it was on the 2004 Raga. Originally they changed to the green lid in the clutch m/c. But anything can happen to a bike during several decades.
  13. Pretty funny timing. My daughter in law decided she wants to ride trials. She barely rides a bicycle. My son brought her to my house for her first go. I told mim about a stop or at least a lead attched to the magnet. He just slowly worked with her But a throttle stop does serve a purpose while learning.!!@
  14. Not that I ever remember. Once it is buttoned up there is not much room to move.Biggest thing is getting the two shafts and shift drum to to fit right.
  15. Third gear hill climbs sound fun!
  16. Actually reading more of your posts, I think what you are looking for can be resolved by learning clutch control. You are expecting the bike to hit harder with the throttle. The secret is in learning to slip the clutch at just the right time and then dump it just after you get to almost full revs. You need to find other trials riders to ride with!
  17. The clutch pressure plate only goes on one way. Look at the spring towers. One has a notch it it and there is a notch or mark on the pressure plate.
  18. Either way you are going to burn yourself.
  19. Trouble with the short one, it's like a knife blade. Had one make a friend an extra drain. Halfway between his anus and scrotum. New Year, first trials first section. What bad luck!
  20. Usually I start with the easiest things when finding a solution to a new occurance on any non starting machinery. Not jumping into something towards the end of possibilities. As i typed this my sons kick starter stuck to his foot peg. I handed him a grinder and fixed in 30 seconds.
  21. Oil is oil when you get down to basics. All it has to do is lubricate. Just like the Elf oil they regard so highly is made for a dry clutch. It's like nobody ever reads the label. My boy buy's the Elf, and I put in Dex XI in all my trials bikes. And I am the one doing the work. Lemur sounds like my boss. What ever is on hand is what he uses. Not that it does not work. We have alot of hydraulic oil on hand, but its not going in my 301. This pic is for lemur. Tesla pulling our smallest excavator.
  22. On trial bikes it's not the transmission which matters for type of oil it's the clutch which is the number one priority. On gassers ATF was always best if riding the big stuff.

    2024?

Buy a 301! Different colors and it feels totally new.
  24. The middle washer was just a spacer and the circlip. Should be fine, not ever a real tight fit. The sprocket just has to be on the splines.
  25. I soak it in gasoline/solvent for a day or 2 and then brush it clean and do the same in any motor oil I have. Go about a month using light chain lube, then repeat the process all over again.
