  1. Didn't we do this a year ago http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....=24759&st=0
  2. Couple of new tweets. That's the ballot done folks - 358 entries this year, which isn't bad going, but means there will be a fair few disappointed folk out there 4 hours ago reply ssdtoffice Webmaster currently in Alps, but entry list will be posted on www.ssdt.org whenever he gets internet access, and letters out tomorrow. 4 hours ago reply
  3. Up to 2005 was 330 / leg 2006 and on is 385 Lft leg and 370 right, make sure you have all the oil out.
  4. I think the date change for the youth nationals west is a good move, I wasn't going to go because of the 2000 mi it added to the trip if you rode the adult events in Colorado and California, then go back out to catch the youth event. "NEWS-- From Bill Markham----Western Youth National date change--the W/Y/Nationals dates have been change to 17-18-19 JULY -- This way any one coming form the west coast will not have to make two trips if they are coming to both the Youth National at Las Vegas, NV and the CO National which is July 24 & 25." Now I can take the kids out to New Mexico, and also catch the adult events on the drive back
  5. Sadly the rules are now being written to allow riders more mistakes before incurring a failure, once if you had a foot on the ground and both feet on one side of the bike or behind, it was considered you had lost control of the machine and scored a five. If you stall the motor you are the one hold of the throttle and in charge of keeping it running, again a mistake by the rider, that we think shouldn't be scored. We push for bigger and more dangerous section that fewer riders can attempt in order to take more points off the best riders, then we make the rules more lenient, it doesn
  6. Think you missed that one Bilco, but as you state he would have to be a real stiff, to be up your ass.
  7. I can see how it has a following for riders that want to ride events like the Spanish championship, because it allows them to avoid parts of the section they feel may be dangerous or too difficult for them, without failing the whole section, they just don't get the bonus points for that gate. Has I have said before this type of event could be the answer to attendance problems at that level, and open it up to more riders, the best will still win. If the system works in Spain, will other countries go with the gate trial format for championships ? Then maybe traditional trials can be left to get on with paddleing up't beck hole
  8. It has a drum rear, I thought 87 were both disc front and rear.

I'm with your dad on this one Dicky, and why I started the post in the first place, all the changes over the past thirty years have been to try and please more riders in the hope the sport will progress, statitics are telling me they should have left well alone. We can't turn the clock back, but I do think it could be made a lot less complex than it is now.
  10. John, it's nowt to do with Dabster ass, but the SSDT runs about 530 miles for the week, what is the longest it's ever run?. You can get back to Dabsters hairy later.

  12. Nigel Dabster the grumpy old man of TC fame is rumored to be the importer for the UK, give him a call. He doesn't always answer the phone but keep trying.
  13. All the back and forth about rules, classes , section difficulty, the list goes on, are we ever going to get back to just worrying about cleaning the next section?. Ask twenty people if they want Stop or no stop, what classes or lines they prefer in an event and you get twenty different answers, and when changes are made the one who is stuck applying said changes is the volunteer who only does this work because they love the sport. Couldn

  15. All this speculation, what would a TLR 250 or an RTL be worth today if still in the original box ? them 4rt's might be a good investment, get a truck load bought John. I remember Appleyards buying a few hundred Ty 125's and selling them cheap, good cheap starter bike, why! because he had the buying power to buy the whole lot at one go. It's always been easy to buy stuff, selling it at a profit is the hard part.

He probably bought that coach off Ebay and put a wood stove in it.

    New Ossa

I just think to be priced more, than all the other brands, it needs to perform better, if priced around the same and the performance is as good, then you have a good combination for more sales. At the moment you have a prototype probably with many one off hand built parts, and the bike doesn't even run yet, I can't see them getting to production in eight months. It's a very innovative and good looking machine, but at this time that is all it is.

    New Ossa

Last bike that was close to twice the price of the others was the RTL 250f Saunders struck up a good run on his works machine, but many clubmen who did splurge couldn't get on with them, I was told that only around four hundred were ever produced?, Big John, could probably answer that one. Good riders will probably ride whatever they can get a little help in the sponsorship department, those who like the bike and have the $ to be the first kid on the block with one, or Big John, who probably hasn't got one that shade of green could be in the market. In past years machines like the Fantic 200 or TY 250 mono have been big sellers but not world beaters. If it is the dogs, but over priced, how long would it be until others started producing bikes like them but for less, it didn't take long for all to pick up on the mono shock sytem, disc brakes, or water cooling, did they show their hand too soon with the prototype ?. Say you got a test ride on the new Ossa in a years time, looks are there, feels good, but you only feel on a parr with what your current machine is, would you still spend the extra ?.
  20. In the waste management department, there are two blokes, the man who takes care of the solid and the man who takes care of the liquid. Are you saying thesolidman is just a sheet stirrer?
  21. I know the event I did way back when, it was required a few sections catered for the US riders and what sections were the hardest, middle and easiest, the then new Junior class rode the same course but didn't need to ride the three hardest sections, but they all did because they could score world round points too. But making sections for the home countries riders kind of hits a wall when in Spain or the UK for that matter as they are at the sharp end of the game. I'm not sure about the youth and junior classes today, with all the expense etc does it thin most of them out before they even get to the top class ?. There was a big push back then to try and get trials in to the Olympics, and it was stated more countries needed to participate to strengthen the case, that seems to have fizzled. I don't think anyone has a clue how to make the game more attractive to both spectator or rider, in most sports if you want to win you just have to run faster.

I might of got a woody on looking at the pictures, but the price soon give me brewers droop
  23. Looking at the stats from the 09 season > http://www.fim-live.com/en/sport/trial/classifications/ < Eleven riders from 4 different countries rode all the events, 6 of those from Spain. and three from the UK, one from Japan, one France and one italy. Only 23 riders are down that rode one or more most riding the home round. There is a big gap in ability and it shows, I think more would try if they could at least get through some of the sections, but none want to go out and fail most of the sections in front of the home fans. I have heared people say at world rounds "our riders look like novice riders compared to the top riders" it doesn't give any rider the incentive to even ride the local round if the best the can hope for is to look bad. I don't know how long Fuji will keep going, but without him it's a bit of a two country show at the moment.

Todays exchange rate is 10,000.00 EUR = 14,821.32 USD The listed retail price for the 2010 sherco 2.9 in the US is $7700, and going on past years the other brands will be in that range or less. I think the Ossa price must just be a wild guess, if not it's daft, don't care how good it looks.
