  1. Eric Stortz dad, Steve, builds some nice Harleys! If I ever were to find myself on one, that XR 1200 might just be a fun ride! Yet a solo sex toy machine. Have a look on the Stortz Performance site. Being very old school, I just cannot handle the radical designs of the late Beemers and such. And although I have been tempted by the big V strom from Suzi, too cheap to buy a Ducati pos, I just know it is going to be more another death trap to me than anything else. I just always must push them it seems, whatever they will do, and that is why I just stay off! Has cost too much money and skin already!
  2. Personally , I would not use just any ATF, if you just want the inexpensive stuff, go with the Dextron 3 or 4 or whatever it is now. I would shy away from MTF designed for cars. Much of this is just too thick. Just as well to go with a good quality 10-40 motor oil best I can figure. The MTF designed for bikes is fine, as they mostly all deal with the wet clutch thing with no problem.
  3. Sorry mate, as this was not used to insinuate that your question was silly or stupid, but yet to reinforce the absolute importance of what I stated. If you can manually rotate the tube to shut down the throttle, it is not the carb slide that is sticking. If you ever have a throttle slide stick that you cannot control, specially at just the wrong instant, it can be Very Dangerous! Not to mention that people freak out and do not pull the clutch at times! As a re read on your initial post, if all this happens with the bike running, it probably just as well may happen without it running, and could well be the tube on the bar binding or something. Do tell more!
  4. Powder coating is just paint applied differently, and it will chip. Although very durable, if you plan upon bashing the bike much, a good enamel finish is usually easier to re-toutch if needed. And a polyurethane enamel is strongest, not cheap! Even prettier from new mostly! Long made short, the finest jobs are not done by powder! Although, add a clearcoat and they can look really good if they can keep the trash out! M2C
  5. Good job man! All the riders need now is to recall EVERY rock! Google luck! These results should be interisting! Add some more rain!
  6. The MOST COMMON cause for all this would be dirt or grime on the throttle slide itself causing binding. This usually comes from a wash through of dirt and grit that has found its way through the air filter due to water entry of the airbox. Clean the carby! Long story made short, you need to clean everything including airbox, in and out, and do not wash the bike, EVER, without either removing the filter and plugging the hole first, OR removing it and inspecting the box immediatly afterwards for a passthrough of dirt and water laying in the bottom of the box Period, end of story, every time and do not forget it, and do not ask stupid questions!!!!! Once you have explored these areas, you may look for other potential causes. Lessons learned! And tought!
  7. I must admit that I do not "go there" myself. Mind you, I have had a few rocket bikes and others over the years. And I have also had far too many close calls and injuries due to street riding.

    New Apple

Gee, I suppose I was a bit too harsh! Makes me just want to post one of them round wheel things up as a target on my bonny behind! Gee, Ham and I could have a party! Catch me, stab me style! Mmmmm! Friggin Nuts! Mind you, I am not overly excited about those little cheap netbook things either! But as a comparison, here is an example.
  9. You may use ATF, I use the Merc synthetic currently. Makes a bit quicker clutch than the thicker oil. Personal pref here. Neo reports excellent results using the "Nulon" motor oil, if you can search for that. Otherwise , best I can tell, the fresher it is, the less prone it is to sticking the plates due to the surface tension of the oil.
  10. When I did mine, I used a small slide hammer with a little "L" shaped adapter to slide under the gear edge and tap it right off. Does not take much to dislodge it, but I did not want to pry against the case edge either. 2K8 made a small puller out of an old pushbike pedal and a bolt, a thin metal strap would do. Must look for his old piccie!
  11. You deserved to ride about in a mini-van !!!!! These things drive like a dream, run like hell! At least for those of us that do like just a bit of room and comfort, not beating you to death!

Do these people just just simply target dysfunctional gay people or what? Even the I-pad is a useless POS! Now this?

    Novel Solution

I had noticed something a while back on one of the factory bikes that the original fuel port was welded shut! I can only suppose that with option, one could choose between them? Not a bad Idea really! Carrying around un-needed baggage!

    Rocket Bike!

Other than what was mentioned, I have no clue what you have done(not being there). Just how lean did you go on this pilot? Did you try the other carb?
  15. Good god man, should have thought about that much earlier!!!! Could have sold a ton of the "I Love Trials" temp tatts!
  16. A good 125 will take him far! Add, a few tight twisties , along with a few sticks or beams is a good start along with maybe a little dirt hill of camber!
  17. Do not the women over there come with them already attached ? I have no idea just how you are gonna get them all marked up with a TC logo by then, unless you have a lot of them all night tatoo parlours! The stickers will never last the weekend! Maybe the "timp" tats will do? This is sounding like a hell of a party!
  18. WoW, these kids are really kicking butt! That is our TDN team there!
  19. I think you need to MF somebody to get that, not ck the lap score, is it 20 or maybe I have had too much this late!
  20. And this is the same fellow asking about a 4T Beta! I suppose the dead business must be UP!
  21. Seems I only ever watch such on a computer anyway, seems to work, or at least last years did.
  22. I tolds Ian he needed one! Chicken Shat! Challenger!
  23. I hope to get one, someday, maybe, possibly !!!!!!!!!!
  24. Although there are differences, there is really nothing wrong with the earlier bike, specially if you like a chromed frame, which is nice in some ways. The '06 motors were tuned a bit gentler it seems, but that bike does get a bad rap for rear shock problems and leaks. The steering is a bit less rakish, yet less radius. Overall, I would rate them fairly equally, price and condition balancing the rest. Still typacally reliable as the high points of maintenance are the same. First point being to never wash the bike without pulling the air filter and blocking the hole, or visa vie.
