  1. Should be a great bike !
  2. I'll give $150 for that old worn out TRP shock!
  3. There is indeed a lot of history behind all this, and a lot of things have happened in the last few years. Riders on different bikes, some bikes missing, some riders missing! Add there is only so much money to go around! Cody kicked ass! And this is not a bad thing, either! I hope to see these kids dukeing it out, makes good competition! And we need that! A bit of disparity in the latter part of the class, which not unlike the top of WTC can be soo intense that few can get along. Last pic I seen of Cody was in Gaerne boots and S3 logo on XC jersey with NAU skidlid, these things only come from one place over here, RYP!, which means Cody is (still) a RYP sponsored rider! RYP supports Trials in the USA! Via many things such as Training Days, Youth Nationals and National events, parts and equipment, and services! I do not know what things would be like without them.
  4. On a really tight 180% turn, you will have to continue the turn with peg pressure to the inside, else the bike will straighten up at maximum traction and the light front! Steereinwith feet here!
  5. If you lean the bike into the hill on an uphill turn, it will not turn! Depending upon the course and steepness of the hill, often there is enough space to at least get yourself and the bike verticle again after the climb while tracking accross the hill and beginning a decent, but you must once again initiate the turn to the downhill by peg pressure leaning the bike to the inside of the turn and letting it roll into the downhill turn while keeping your inside arm extended and your body centered and adjusting rearward for the downhill! Get WAY back on downhills! Butt on mudguard!
  6. There is a process to follow on the '04 bikes which is similar to the new ones, however my late '03 did not have a recogniseable tic mark on the stator plate, thus the only ref wat the outer marks, which requires a timing light. Ck it out,HERE
  7. I have not seen any. And to be honest, I am not absolutely sure exactly what years will interchange on the springs.(mine is '07, as example) However, I think '08'09'10 and likely the '11 may well use the same. Now that Nationals are over, this may well be a good project for RYP Brad to investigate, and possibly have a few made up. Seems there is some demand, yet limited. The MX specialty suspension shops can do it. But would cost a lot for just one! Replicate in a 10-15% heavy range. Last word I seen stated the TRP would not fit the '10 model untill re-work, not sure if it is out yet, however the Ohlins did still fit. Splatshop UK had the Ohlins listed at about $600 US, but you wou would need to see if they can get the heavy spring on it as well. They seem good at returning e-mail, so never hurts to ask. And That is all I know about That!

    Timing

Yes and yes! There is a pic, back in the threads from '07 I think. Will have to find it later, no time now! Just move it 3-4 mm! Now , there you go. You see the little factory tic mark at about 4mm?
  9. MM is usch a wealth of info! Screw it, I have to ask the question, Is this the REAL MM from the left wing movies and such!
  10. Well, you are correct there! When things start getting really ugly, best to get away from the bike! Try to exit on the uphill side if on a failed hillclimb by getting the bike sideways first. The Camelback has offered me some good spinal protection after finding myself on my back! Ass did not hold up as well! Otherwise, I try to keep the knees and elbows covered, and not get too stupid!
  11. Which boots did you order? My guess, the cheap ones!
  12. There are several things that need to happen here! Firstly, to turn, any turn, you need to lean the bike into the turn, otherwise the front just pushes at some point of lost traction. Secondly, to lean the bike, you need peg pressure, yet stay centered over the bike. Thirdly, on a greasy turn, you gotta try and roll through(momentum) slipping the clutch, as you are on the edge of the tire and cannot apply much power or it will just spin out. And then on the transition to the uphill, you gotta get as much weight back on the tire as you can for traction, 100 percent, still turning(PEGS) and cannot apply full power untill you got 4 knobs(tire) on the ground. If you do this correctly, the front wheel will just skim or leave the ground(100 % traction) and your turn will follow due to your peg pressure untill the point where you need to straighten up(pegs again). Takes practice, but when you hit it correctly, feels like floating! Smooth clutch and throttle! Try different gears, first is sometimes too jerky! Feel for the traction!
  13. It is still good oil and you can still run it at 80:1 I would not use excess oil in the mix, as it fouls the exhaust!
  14. Seems to me Pete almost has this down! Yet in a tight one, you gotta lean back(pull), apply slight throttle, poke the inside peg, and ride it on the rear for maximum traction and peg steering with the front just off the ground! Easy Peasy! Stay over the bike and let feet steer!!
  15. That Herculiner stuff just costs too much for Zipper! He can just put dabs of RTV where he needs it! If it falls off, put another bumper on! Just smear it on the bike! The boots will still look good! And the bike will still look tricked out! Does that stuff come in pink?
  16. Well, since noone has comenteted on this, I thought I would at least throw in my basic recallection that what you stated was indeed true in the earlier years, say mid 70's. Just how all that relates to your year model? Totally unsure! Might make a sweet little runner, though, If you can find the stuff! Gene T. had a 123, did you get it? I looked at it, for a looooooong time! MC

Yes, John, I was more referring to Ron's initial quote of "No Conspiracy....section 12 was huge wall with 8 foot run .. the 2010 300 PRO Gassers were the trick !!" Now for some reason, I just have a hard time swallowing all that coming from Master Beta! And personally, I do find it a bit of a pity that we do not have a Beta rider in the top class at this point. And if you ever need to know which is the best bike, I can tell you if you want that little secret! IT's THE FRIGGIN FREE ONE! Those things never miss a beat! You have one, don't you?
  18. I find this interisting that you got GasGasben on Beta's, then Beatabeta on gassers! I think you gotta go ride some just to see what you can tolerate! There are ergonomic and other factors that come into play as well. Do not forget to throw in a Sherco into the mix. Factors I find to be : Left hand kickers Short throw shifters Short throw kickers Weight and ft/rear bias Maintenance and reliability Rattly motors Too tight and/or springy in the steering and suspension Steering radius too much or too little And of course, engine power band Now I say this purely in an effort to state points of comparison and such. My saying is Pick your Poison, and stick with it! They all have their points!

You gotta click on the "all classes" to get it all. Not sure exactly why they do this? As far as Ron and all thet GG BS goes, I would like to thank GG as well for allowing Karl Jr to beat out Ronnie on cleans that day! I think that could be a big emotional boost of confidence for this up and coming kid! Good showing! Ta!
  20. Obviously, there are no other riders in the "shires"! You may be on your own!

    Be Afraid

Sorry to hear about "the accident", Baldi! Did this happen at the Scottish? Does the wife let you keep them in the bum bag, or does she have them in the jar over the kitche sink?

Yea, I did not see them untill today. Looks like for whatever reason, Pat could not get his head around section 12, and three 5's on that one were costly!
  23. That is JUST OVER THE TOP for Cody! What a year he has going! It's all good! "Cant wait to see you ride at Donner." Clive! You know you gotta do it! Not worth the trip otherwise!
