You are too critical! They work fine on a Novice or Vintage bike, all dependant upon what you are doing. I got a front on the Serow and it works. Will put a rear as the knobbie thing goes off.
Only problem I had in the trials was on the wet rocks! You get what you pay for, but they do look good!
-
Ah, you found that! Sweet overpriced noise makers!
I took the bird out last sunday for a few sweeps! Screaming low passes at about 240 km/h! (I like km/h cause it sounds better) Still fun though!
Nothing like the sound of a screaming 4 cyl at 100 hp!

Not going to hurt nothing just swapping carbys. If yoours is good as you say, should run fine on his and visavie.
Changing the seals is not that difficult, but must strip the mag and clutch sides, yet no case splitting here as they come out the sides.
Let us know how you get on with the spray testing on the mag side, and or also ck the case vent tube(under carb inlet) for pressure/vacume changes on the clutch side. I do this the old fashoned way, cleaning te hose end and sticking in mouth to detect subtile changes. Simple enough.
Let us know how you get on. There are other issues in the threads about this as well.

No Gif's of you yanking your crank, you naughty!

Hell, you could p--s off the Pope!, Why pick on a small town Babtist minister!
Next trip, Rome!

If it is still hunting badly enough you need to apply choke to settle things, there is likely another problem.
Insure fuel is flowing properly and tank vent is clear.
Even with the 33 and the screw out at 3,5 or 4, I would at least think it would be stable.
I had to put seals in the '07, so I am having doubts about their ability to hold out against the alcohol laced fuel for more than 2-3 years.
-
Many folk slow the ignition timing a bit to settle the bike a bit as well.
You can practice sections riding up a gear. What you would normally do in first, try in second, or even third to get a feel for the clutch, as it forces you to use it and FEEL for traction as well. You and rev the hellovit and creep along on the clutch if need be! It is your golden parachute when combined with rear brake!
-
Not a bad looking bike! Has a little wear and tear, yet that is to be expected.
Deduct for tire wear and stickers! Should put you about right!
-
Well, if you are sure the jets are clean, you could have an air leak. Specifically the crank seals, see recent post!

There is really nothing wrong with any of these years if they are taken care of. Anything you get at that price may have its faults due to age and use and maintenance or lack of it! Usually nothing great, though.
What possibly concerns me more here is the fact you are looking at 2.7 and 2.9 big bore bikes! For a beginner this is not always good! They are more difficult to control, and unless you also happen to be a hotshot enduro or MX rider, not a good start! A decent 200-250 is a better starter bike, and even most 125's will get you around quite nicely!
I usually point folks towards a 250 Scorpa SY, Montesa 2T or Beta as they are more docile and available it seems.
-
Well, based upon your typing, you sound like a Yank(USA), so Bob Ginder at B&J Racing is your man for all the hot tips and setup along with parts! Look him up!
Cheers!

We have a thing called Technology nowdays Billy! The shovel is easier and one person can do it!!
Doing it Billy's way, one must place their laptop computer under to protect the rim!

Do flags help you "hop"? Or just dab more?

Most this on the "BP you tube channel"!
Watch it spew a bit while you are waiting for it to load up!!! Friggin hilarious!

Fortunatly, it was not You that directly tied your radical religious beliefs to your terriorist cause! It was not You that called for a worldwide Jehad against the west and everything they do. And it is certainly not You that tries to twist everything around to make everything someones fault in order to provide for themselves and their own intent.
You do not even need to be a religious hypocrit, they would kill your ass just the same. No difference!
It is their own religious sanctions of the radicals that has brough about this untrust. You can play the "poor white boy just getting through life" all you want, yet there remain only two sides to this equasion, and we did not create it.
I have not been given a choice of sides, but being a bit redneck, this does not bother me! If common Muslems suffer because of the actions of radicals, then so be it. Possibly they themselves will speak up a bit. That is freedom here!

Suffice it to say that if you have a good grasp on the older ones, the new ones('06-up) are similar yet different.
Left Leg= spring side! Drain completely and refill.
Right Leg= damper side. Remove lower bolt, drain leg, extract damper unit throu top and continue to pump it about 100(00) strokes till you get all the old oil out or your measures will be off!
Reassemble, pour oil in top whilst working the new oil in the same way before you cap it.
385ml left.
370ml right.
High quality 5W fork oil.
Getting old oil out the damper is the most critical part.
Frequency? Annually, depending upon how much you ride.
Cheers,

This is basically just an overflow tube. There is a metal tube inside the bowl that extends up just higher than the fuel level and fuel sloshes into it as you ride. The standard configuration from Kiehin is a long hose that exits the bowl, runs up and over the carb and down on the other side, to trap the fuel rather than letting it p*** everywhere. Add, all that does is trap fuel in the hose.
Simpler than that is to just cap it off!!! It will be fine!!
-
Sounds to me you need to start over with new plates(warped)! Then ck your stack height!
Nada gas expert here!

That is a good example from Ralphy!
The Evo 4T is probably the prime example of the modern 4T. I have ridden them and they are sweet in both 250 and 300 versions.
Seems there was one recent report in the threads for a worn valve guide issue, although he was a bit shy on specifics. I still do find any 4T more maintenance intensive, and although the Monts seem to have their own quirks add a bit on the heavy side, they can be fantastic bikes, yet one does not really want to know the cost of fixing these things when they go tits up, or the cost of mudguard for that matter.
All said, I have been tempted many times over the years, yet find my private life(NOT constantly working on stuff) much simpler with a 2T!
For anyone without the neccessary tools, skills and equipment, things can get ugly real quick!

They are ALL nuts as far as I am concerned!
$100 mil for 19 stories of WHAT? The rest will go to renters probably?
Sitting in the easy chair cooling off last weekend, I happened to catch this snippit that was filmed about a young couple that wanted to upgrade their Manhatten efficiency to a 2BR flat, yet keep the price under a Mil! How do you do that?
So for 9.5k, they found something nice! Yet, I probably have more room in my kitchen and shed, combined!
I recall the story of the fellow that took his car to the downtown dealer EVERY DAY for an oil change that cost $25, and when asked about it, he stated the parking garage charged $40 for the day.
Just nuts!
-
In the old days, this statement might be correct, yet on the new light motors, I am not sure about all that! Just ask the MX and enduro croud!
-
Welcome, yet be warned the fact the fellow with the similar screen name is a bit of a tosser!
