    Coil

All depends upon the years. If they are both Ducati ignitions it may work, but not sure if they are the same.
  2. That is what I was trying to represent with the first dot on the right side noted STD, that does not mean Sexually Transmitted Desease! Ha!
  3. Good job, go practice! Have fun!
  4. Plug readings such as that are innacurate as things go. Not sure your altitude, but lean out(in) fuel screw as much as possible(floaty idle) and back out just a bit, try 2 1/2 turns out as a start. This smooths things out. I run a #35, but that is me, some like it richer. Plug gap at about .023-025 on the stocker. A VX or irridium plug run a bit cleaner off the bottom. Hope that helps.
  5. Since a US rider was on the podium in a WTC event?
  6. Be sure you have not poked holes in the rim band with the tire irons! Inspect it closely! Clean it all up good as new and follow instructions! linky Use soapy water and fingers only to seat the band fully(reallllllly soapy)! And you may want to chunk that "collar" thing! When installing tire, DO NOT TOUCH the band, or you may damage or unseat it! It must be perfect! Good friggin luck! Practice makes perfect!
  7. Uhhh, not really! In what testing I have done, if you retard the timing more than 6-7 mm from standard, the bike just does not run properly. Once again, you can only tame a 2.9 soo much! It is still a 2.9 and has lots of power! The list of tricks is long, and depends upon year model! Slow throttle, cheap Proper jetting, cheap Boyesen reeds(some have stated the v-force are smooth off the bottom, not sure) cheap, takes some work. 5mm intake spacer(off '05) cheap Long header pipe ('05) expensive Stack base gaskets(3 max) Never done it, but? cheap, but labor intensive Kiehin carb is smoother(Caby bike) expensive Buy a 2.5, it is 10% smaller displacement! Once again, the '07 is smoother off the bottom to begin with, as compared ot an '06, which is softer than a '05, '04, '03

    Fuel Ratio

Good show, Neo, keep it clean! The excess oils and carbon just build up in a trials motor and exhaust. There are some simi -synthetic oils that work well too, but , well you know!
  9. This stuff is not rocket science, but it IS somewhat sensitive, so here is a reference pic with notations. All measures are eye reference only, but you have a nice screw right there with a 4mm hole in the hex for a guideline. I always set mine back 6mm on a new one(center of screw), but after installing the Boyesens on the '07 it almost seemed TOO soft, so a bit more fine tuning to my liking was due. Taking it back to about 4mm from std(as in piccie), things started to get pretty aggressive again , not bad, but not quite as smooth as I prefer, so I settled upon the 5mm mark, sweet! Another note on the Boyesens, it does seem that if you really want the bike to clean out on the top end and rev to the nerve shattering MOON, you must change the main jet, as with the stock jetting I had of 120, they will blubber above about 6000 revs, not an issue for most, but even after dropping to a 116 is is somewhat difficult to get things to totally "clean out" ant rev up to the upper 8-9G limits! Most of us never go there anyway, but!!!!! As the Boyesens use no reed stops, is seem a lot more air and fuel get in at high revs! Bloody scarey it is! Even at reduced timing! If you strain your eyes, you can tell there is more than one head gasket on the '07! One std, one thin!
  10. About that time for sure Craig, He'll be tough tomorrow if he keeps his head screwed on straight! In Guatemala, the girls, they clean your windshield with their panties, even for a third place gringo piloto!
  11. You wonder why Dallas want to finish Calgary off in Dallas............. So they don't have to drink beer made from yellow snow?
  12. Wow Alexz is on fire! Great job Patrick, for your first 125 WTC event!
  13. That's the ones! Do you think you could send me a few so I can you send the Paypal?
  14. The seals are different on 1.25-2.0 vs 2.5-2.9, wiich means you better ck the size to be sure they did not get mixed!
  15. I would agree with above comments, but seems I recall another fellow a while back said he fixed it with a stator replacement. Ck the woodruff key first, and the stator plate position. But it does lead me to believe that the the ignition module(coil pack) may be very sensitive to disruptions sent by the stator , as it really does not know which way things are rotating! Never seen it myself, but that is why we share here! Let us know!
  16. Glenn, I do not think you would have any problems running the Irridium plug at .023-.025, but is a RESISTOR plug! On the very limited output ov the system, to me it sort of defeats the purpose. I prefer the BP5EVX non resistor Platinum, and have run them at .027-.028 without problem. As they are no longer available here, see if you can find some, as those places over there do not want to ship to here. In sparkie tech, it means having minimal electrical resistance and maximum electrode exposure and flamefront propagation in a system that makes the minimum required output and give maximum resistance to fouling! And yes, they run better off the bottom as compared to stock! Hope that makes sense to you!
  17. Steve, You Canuks get podcasts up there? I think the Canadian group that was there at TTC a couple of weeks ago drank all the beer in the county, aye! What a crew! (i think the cabin is still airing out!) They should have more beer by the time you arrive!
  18. Hey Hensley, maybe you need to START a youth group! Most of the guys I have met up there would contribute, if asked ! If only for a start with Homer, it IS a start! Others may follow!
  19. OK Chris, we may have to do some adjustments in all fairness, so things are more head to head as far as age groups, we will see. We may only have 2-3 in the same groups anyway, all to their benefit! We may not know untill sign-up, but I have to trust you as I cannot be there, but the results will be posted. I think Mizell has 4 kids riding now(no bike for himself), Duvall's, Martenez kids, Schuberts? Man I really loose track, and it all depends upon their ability to make the trip and their planning. Who else? If I forget that I shot off my mouth by then, I am sure you will remind me!
  20. I should add that the relationship in stator plate movement to ignition advance(BTC) is NOT linear and should not be confused due to the rotational geometry of the motor. In an effort to keep things simple, that means that the initial 3mm of stator rotation has roughly twice the effect as an additional 3mm rotation, or in rough numbers 3mmBTC(standard), 2mmBTC, and 1.5mmBTC. Below that, thing just do not seem to work well. I have not degreed things out exactly of late, as I am really not concerned with the numbers as much as how it works, and 6-7 mm rotation on the plate seems to be about max allowable as far as retard goes. Now as far as advancing for high altitude conditions goes? I really do not know. I am at about 500ft MSL(what is that, 150 meters?) above sea level here. So 0-1000ft variences apply, which are negligable. Trials bikes really are not GP racers, so they don't care!
  21. Glenn, Seems all is well, I think mine did the same thing as I recall! May just go to show that the base timing is better that way in the lower revs. Possibly limiting the extreme upper end advance. The Leonelli will rev about 2000 revs higher than the old one! Not that you may need to go there! As I recall, that note on the RYP site was written a while back, when the Ducati ignition was in use. Can you not blip around in the driveway or street at home? Running the mix screw in as much as possible has a smoothing effect as well, depending upon the day. What #pilot jet are you running? Sounds as though you are in the correct range.

    Which Oils

It basically means that at 100C the viscosity is 8wt !!!!! Makes for a pretty quick clutch! Spec is 10-40! different rating, but basically 40wt oil Finding the "sweet spot" on slipping the clutch is important and this could make things a bit too grabby. But it is all personal taste as far as I can make it. The 2T gear oils are rated differently, such as the Maxima MTL 75wt equiv. Typically, a thicker oil will give you more progressive response from the clutch, but it also has a lot to do with what the rider wants, as a PRO wants things to happen "right NOW" and you may just pop yourself right on the old butt! And that is all I have to say about that!
  23. Chris, I have to admit that I am totally torn over this Texas vs Cali thing at the youth nationals! Team Sherco and all that! But since it is late in the day, and I have not managed to p*** anyone off today, would you like to make a small wager toward the outcome of the Youth Nationals overall wins? I am not even sure which age groups we have represented, to be honest! I am always confused with the Mizell kids! All proceeds toward the next years fund of the winner! $100 gets you in!
