  1. So far , the Stella website makes me want to beat SOMETHING!
  2. Let them put some new bearings and seals in it! Send them just the motor if you can, as most any reputable shop can do it quickly and get it back to you. Do you have local references?

Bit of Black Magic there, but you can expect a motor thet is basically "blueprinted" with a bit of cyl and head work. Smooth and strong! Good stuff!
  4. I think the Beta fork guards may still fit the Sherco if Heath gets a ride and decides to sell the ali framed lump! He should feel somewhat at home cause the Keihin will still pee on your foot like a good dog!
  5. If you are anywhere near sea level(0-1000ft) the jetting (range)should fall between 33 and 36 for the pilot and 118-122 on the main I would think! It varies a bit bike to bike and carb to carb, but not much. Although you may find nothing does not mean you have not disloged and fixed the culprit, even a drop of water lying in the bottom. Remove the pilot jet and clean with carby spray or brake cleener, blow out bowl and all passages with compressed air if you can. A light coat of oil helps the little choke system o-ring seat gently in the bowl when assembling. Clean is Good!
  6. I always think too much is better than too little as the results of too little can do damage. Regular oil is better than no oil, but the "tacky" filter oils always seem to stay in place and catch dust and dirt better where regular oil will migrate to the bottom. And the "liquid" filter oils seem to better than the spray on's, just squeeze out the excess, NoToil is the current fav! I also run a screen to keep the big crap out that collects in the bottom of the filter.
  7. Does it really run? Cannot spot any fuel or oil dripping from the carby or exhaust!
  8. Ahh yes, the good old days! The last day of elementry school, after school the janitors had the doors open at the ends of the hallways! (as always) My trusty Honda trail 70 managed to climb those steps, weelie through the long hallway and boogie out the door and down the steps at the other end! Looking like Julian Du Ponte! Friggin janitor seen me, and parents got letters and all that, banning me from school! Big deal! Oh well, I never went back to the elementry school anyway! Except to make a flat track around the football field with the new Kawa 100! Of course, this was a long time ago, and I suddenly realized something. I am the only one still alive to tell the story! Bummer! If you did that nowdays, they would call the SWAT team and shoot you on the spot for leaving tire marks on the freshly waxed floor! Keep it going through the kids! (but don't tell them everything)!
  9. Gaz, Strip and clean the carb and tell us which jets are in it. Carefully screw the mix IN and count the turns till it stops(gently). And if the rubbers are damaged order new ones! What year is the bike? Be sure to remove the hex at the fuel inlet to carb and ck the screen for dirt and while you are at it, drain the tank, remove the petcock and ck the screen there. Before you start, start CLEAN by removing mudguard, tank and airbox. Block carb and fuel inne and powerwash the crap out of it so you do not spread dirt into the clean parts. Clean you air filter and wash out airbox while off. One spec of dirt in the pilot jet will screw you, and if your bike does not have tubes on the bowl vents, short tubes of 60mm or less will help prevent stuff being sucked into the bowl vents which naturally tend to accumulate dirt due to the fuel and oil. Nuff for now,
  10. If you are not playing submarine with the bike, be sure the tranny vent us routed up, then down, like over the fuel inlet to the carb(between them) then down to the skidplate level. Watch the coolant level closely as an indication of a pump seal internal leak as yours probably does not have the weep hole.
  11. It looks dark? Good, keep up your 80:1 and do not rely on those plug readings!
  12. Suddenly reminded of this place in Kansas I once found three years ago now, they have about 150 beers on tap from around the world. Went there twice that weekend! Did not make a dent in all of them! Funny thing is, I went there again last fall and could not remember where to find the place, or where I went afterwards! Total memory lapse!
  13. And Betaboy said he ad already sent off for an '07! Now he is in for it! Good thing is the Keihin is pretty smooth! Bike looks really good!
  14. I guess Mezz never went to the other side of the "Hilltop"! Plenty of rocks there(yea right)!
  15. Just seen in the AMA mag, the Harlan County Fiscal Court has leased more than 7000 acres of reclaimed coal land for an off road adventure park iN kENTUCKY!
  16. Echo that Donald, If you ever make it over here, we'll find a nice girl to give you mouth to mouth if you are injured or sick!
  17. A buddy sent a little piccy of a little practice area of a few acres, I could nor resist sharing! No details available !

Just tried to get through 700 some odd piccies last night! All in alpha order! Great job!
  19. Sounds like you need to strip and clean the carb, check float height setting and fuel screen in tank. The spacer goes between the reed block and motor, only makes things a little smoother. Also, be sure the bowl vent is not blocked. Not sure if the carb on the Caby bike has the vent open on the left side? Might be a good time to open(drill out) that one as well and install a short hose on it, as they are very sensitive to (not) being able to equalize pressure in the bowl! Standard jetting on the Keihin is around 45/125 with needle in third groove as I recall, your mileage may vary!

That "Gorilla" tape is cool black and bad ass! I have a sudden urge to apply some to a hairy area and (rip) it off! Any volunteers? I understand they charge a lot of money for this treatment at the Spa! We are now equipped to do it for a lot less at the trial! Some would probably pay to see! Now if we could only get Al B. and MichLin back together! That would be a REAL TDN fundraiser! Where is Dan?

Zippy, what have you done? I'll give you a clue, It should be just like the other side! If you take things apart and turn them upside down, the damper rod will fall out as I recall, and the washer things(valves) have to go in proper order! Look at the parts diagram!
  22. Yea, and it is not good on a stressed component!

Jim, You are not incorrect, but after 5 of them, I can honestly say that I have not "broken" a rear and have only replaced a couple due to shoddy appearance. I still use the screws!(knock on wood) Granted, I am only a mid level rider and the ones who ride harder will do more damage on a regular basis! A simple "mud flap" made from duct tape will do wonders at the place the thing tucks under the rear! I cover the inlet holes in the seat area in a muddy trial, and a strip along the side does not hurt, as well as the area below radiator and holes in skidplate. Speaking of that, have you tried the new "Gorilla" tape, made by the Gorilla glue people, It is some good stuff! Typically, improper cleaning/ washing of the bike without removing mudguard and protecting and cleaning filters and checking airbox for water after washing does more damage than the trial!
  24. As I recall, the '02 tank is clearcoated over the factory graphic. If it is a near perfect tank and you want to protect it, just clean with alcohol and apply new sticker, tape off edges of sticker and spray edges only with a can of silver- charcoal enamel from the auto parts supply. Most automotive enamels are fuel resistant(not proof). Laquers are not recommended. If your tank is a bit knackered, you can sand the edges with #320 or scothbrite to give the paint a bit more grip prior to applying sticker. Messing with the area around fuel cap and screw hole will be up to you(pain in butt) as few will ever notice! I used Dupli-color Silver Charcoal for a near perfect match. You can add a clearcoat as well(same mfg) for a bit more gloss, once again, not that many would notice, as the base silver is easy to touch up if needed. If you ever replace or remove sticker, be patient and use heat gun or hairdrier or you will lift factory paint in the process! This creates a real mess as you then have to sand down everything and start over. I seem to recall RYP selling a silver paint as well, but have not tried it. Hope that helps!
  25. Think RLRacer may have one, PM him! If he does still have it, it would cost about 175- 200 quid with the shipping.
