  1. Now thats a snake! Nothing that big here, not naturally anyway. The gators can get quite large though if you go certain places! Good spot on the boresnake! I wondered it he was looking for a mate! He said he wanted one with a little box! These buggers eat mice and rats, so I just leave them run around and do their thing, not poisionous. Honestly, I worry far more about the brown recluse spiders that are about in the sheds and stuff.
  2. The good, bad, and ugly! Well, if it just runs a bit and shuts off like you turned the key, that can be an ugly situation. Ignition is near certain culprit. Woodruff keys don't usually fix themselves, so I would rule that out if it runs normal while running. I am not a fan of taking resistance readings on these. You might find an open coil of something, but it seems it is usually the hall sensors that fail and I know of no way to properly test them. Would take some type dyno to do it I think. Steve at motoplat UK would be the overhauler of choice, although a week each way for post. Prolly cost half that of new. Last I knew, RYP had new only that comes with matching flywheel. Over $300 last I know, but good news is he will send you whatever you need for testing and you can return what you do not need as long as you don't screw it up. No real pattern on any of this, and the CDI may still be suspect, which makes a doner bike a real luxury here. Now that I think, Chris at Splatshop UK may have an o/h exchange unit he could send out and you would get the stator in a week or so. E-mail sales@splatshop.co.uk for availability if RYP has no o/h units. That is all I can tell you, good lock and keep us posted!
  3. So,late yesterday I make a run out to the airport to go fly a while. Took off just before dusk and spent some time then performed my night landings for currency. Got back, walked into the hangar and noticed something odd out the corner of my eye next to me! Lad is looking for lunch! And up on my roolaround toolbox! Would not leave, had to poke him with a stick! Over 4 ft long!
  4. Prolly your old bike you sold him! Club Buzzard!
  5. Yes it is! They know nothing about it! Spark allways looks weak, because it is. Eithere there or not for the most part. Quick die out does suggest ignition related issue. Try unplugging kill button, ck elect connections to cdi and the ground wire to frame. A faulty stator is allways a possibility, and even the cdi/coil unit, but without good parts to exchange and try makes it tough. Ck that stuff and do tell.
  6. As we have no idea just how old and well ridden your bike was, this is of little relevance. Just about the time you get it in shape you peddle it off for a newer bike. Anyone can do that! All it takes is money! Good luck with the Gasser, cause the longer you keep and ride it the more it will cost you. I promise!

    Last 4T

Last I heard you could still special order one!
  8. I always enjoy viewing the daily results at SSDT.org, as the books are in and posted by the time I get off work! As I go through the list again this year, couple of folk stand out in my mind as regular friends here on TC. Our top Spanish lad, Carlos Casas finished another year nicely in spot 77! With a good last two days he really advanced as I recall. Only got beat by one girl this year with Emma B. in spot 46. We still love you man! How do you do it? Chris Pearson, tech advisor, did the deal this year with great result at spot 23, just behind Ricky Wiggins (who must be half his age)! Great job man! Another great finish for Dougie, lots of respect there, and for all the top boys.. Dibs a charger! , Connor, look at him go! Kendrew, just nuts! Jordi wow, still on it! Awesome results for all, congrats! Oh, I almost forgot Hirdy for the videos! Really nice, although this may be the last we see of them as he has not completed the DVD from last year. Ah, well, skip it! Keep it up John. This was better yet!

    5 Or 3 ?

Sir Wren, I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but this is SSDT! All ride the same line as the top riders, and mostly sportsmen! What happens there stays there! All this BS is deja vu anyway, what one or two years ago same thing happened when someone videoed Dougie bounce back off a rock. It all finds its balance, if you think others did not get slack cut during the week. Truth be known I doubt any them top lads actually got by with the weekly score in single digits or teens that have occurred over the years. Don't take my word, ask Dougie what he thinks! I see you are currently bikeless so I have an assortment of Demobrooms in the dustcloset you can ride. Meanwhile, there are prob a couple hundred in the group that are trying their best and having a ride without someone busting their baws! Keep it up! Be as strict as you like on the top national riders in other events with dedicated lines. That is the game they came for.

    5 Or 3 ?

This is soo true, and nobody likes HITLER observers. There is no 4 here, but yet, this is Scottish Time, and the rules are clear. 1- Don't dick about too long! 2- Don't hop or rool back for advantage! Simples! Buy the observers more beer and feed them regularly! And how it should be! A few on here need to pull the broomstick out their backside!
  12. I have done it all sorts of ways. Cut a plate to zip-tie to the forks out of plastic, apply 2" letters for class, NOV, SR, INT, etc, and a name is nice, I print one on 3/4 tape using my Brother labeler. I think Adrian at Lewissport prints custom stickers and sells plates if you want something special.

    5 Or 3 ?

There are several points to be made on this. At least in my mind of reasonable scoring to which the SSDT seems to attend. One may debate this all day, but! Rollback for advantage is a 5. A simple bounceback or slideback is not an intentional rollback for advantage! I will typically allow a 3 count for a stoppage of forward motion, yet one must continue to try! And without intentional rollback for advantage. He is pushing the limits here! On a real edge, advantage to the rider, as all is up to the observer who needs to apply the rules equally for all not to be too strict and it is all subjective. Stay within the spirit of the sport! Busting Baws does not promote it! I say all that, yet if this was strictly top lads as in a normal trial I could easily be more strict, to little advantage it seems.
  14. If you do not have a local dealer/specialist, and you are willing to remove it, I would just put it in a box and post it to Gasser UK for a refresh. Love you long time! Do you r water pump seals as well.

    5 Or 3 ?

    3-3-3-3-3-3-3!
  16. Try about 65ml next time. Good synthetic.
  17. They are very close to Germany! If it is German it has to work, right? I can actually see this working, as RR wheels are in pairs, one rocks over, then the other. Not built for speed though. Sick!
  18. Nothing on a Sherco that a good $500 won't fix! Good job!
  19. This was the first year of the "new" design. Not necessarily a bad bike, and there were few actual 250's imported so more rare than a 2.9. A 250 is easier to ride for me. Buy upon condition! If it is fantastic, well! If less, he will probably accept less. I am thinking $3500 for decent and well maintained. With normal wear and tear.
  20. Which translates to: Unplug the thermo switch on the rad and see if fan runs with the wires jumpered together! Also insure coolant is full!
  21. I think that it would depend upon their condition. If they are not worn/rusted/ corroded I would flush them out with solvent, blow them out and re-pack with good grease. If they are knackered, knock them out and start fresh.
  22. Uh, guess you could get by just removing the opposing spring on a 125, even with standard oil. I ran the wifys 125 that way without issue, long as you are not riding top lines. Still needs proper fixing, and if you change the basket you are gonna need proper clutch holder to bring things to proper torque on that big nut!
  23. Nothing wrong with a bit o'tick! Loverly bikes they are!
  24. Sounds as though you found the main culprit with the oil/grease on the stuff. It will contaminate the pads and may/ not be recoverable. Find your sourse of oil/ grease. Remove the pads and give them a good soaking with brake cleaner. Re-install and ride the bike to heat rear disk, douse with water to steam things off(a pop bottle will do)and re- do this about three times and let rest and dry. Ck your results. Do not mess with the fluid if you do not have to. If this does not work out, new pads may be needed. Standard dot 4 fluid works fine. If you want a refresh without jacking up the system, just do a partial change by sucking the old out the reservoir and adding fresh to mid level. If you induce air into the system you are knackered!
