  1. That is good info, however one may simply jumper the thermo switch wires to see if it runs, then if not, test it with an external 12V source. You can boil all them pots if you like, but not me!
  2. And was the original sheared? Why else would you change it? Did you re-attach the flywheel properly or just shear another?
  3. Yea man, sounds a confunction! She has talent, but she is confused. Too weird for me. Guys, Zappa was to weird for me as well! As I sat in a local pizza joint this week, the audio was more and more Greatful Dead. I thought I was oing ti di before leaving!
  4. Ironic, was just wondering about you yesterday. I would rather go fishing, don't get near as dirty! As to orig post, go ror it, but I will say newer lighter bikes are a spoiler. Makes the old lead sleds really feel like one!
  5. Invert it completely with plug out and work yhe kicker, set on the bars and mudguard if you must.
  6. I dig, I digress, cannot recall a better one!
  7. Could not get this out of my head today, so found a new rendition!
  8. Billyt, I got your adapter in, just put it on the willy and pull the strap. You gotta have your own hose and bag! Send me a tenner! Note: not rated for the vacume!

    Sherco Brakes

You should still be able to pry or push the pads back to insure the pucks are moving. If not dragging on the rotor they are likely not stuck. I can only tell you that every time I have had to use the water method I thought "much better but not there yet", then either put the bike away for the day or resumed riding then later all seemed good! Galfer pads do not like to work well in water anyway is seems! All mine have been AJP, so cannot tell more. I know they had some issues on the master cyl's and mods to fix them, but the calipers I have not heard much. The AJP do flex a bit when pulling super hard! Much harder than what I think normal.
  10. As a pro, Snap-on has some really nice high priced stuff. What we do is pay them out over a lifetime! It never ends! I have about 4 sets of tools in different locations. I just use what works for the application. Work set- many high dollar tools! There are other companies that make pro tools! My workshop- Mostly Sears Craftsman with a number of special bits. Home- Mostly cheap crap to get job done. Bike- Portable kit mostly bike specific and supplements home. Anything major breaks and I am done anyway! You can probably find the Sears Craftsman stuff on Ebay or on line.

So did you use the WATER as I suggested above?
  13. And elbow grease! I use a brush on my pot because I splat a lot!
  14. Obviously you have never tried to push start a friggin Yam XT 225 with no proper kicker mounted! How can they do this to us? Try that when you are sitting with a flipped bike in a creek! When you suddenly find out your battery is weak after abiut two good start attempts! It dies! Yea, they last a couple years maybe? At least if I get caught out on my Cessna I can get out and hand prop the thing! Happened more than once! Hot start on a dead 4T is not isolated to bikes!

    Engine Debut

Why do I see another Gasser copy coming on? Maybe they can make it work?
  16. A few things to keep in mind here. 10- 40 and 75 wt light gear oil for bikes are somewhat similar in vis and totally different from 75wt hypoid gear oil, all use different rating systems. Having tinkered wit a few, all I can tell you is you be careful what you wish for, as too buttery is not allways good! The things need to bite on demand! NOW, BAM! Now if you are just puttering around primarily, you may well opt for the light clutch like I do by removing two opposing springs from the pack. Not near as grabby and my old aurthitic finger likes it. 1/3 less effort! Takes 10 min. to do this and easily replaced if needed. All I can tell you is I still achieve a full pop if needed still using the 75 LGO, Good progression. This on my "12 bike. On my "07 bike I had to go with the ATF to get the BITE when needed using the light clutch. Find your own nirvana, your mileage may vary!
  17. Sweet! Just be careful with them bark busting bar ends, as there have been reports of some flipping the bike over a big log like that and snapping wrists with them! I likr thin gloves, but I would easily use thicker work style mechanics gloves in the brush and such, and I do have elbow pads that cover most of forearm if needed, knee guards as well, as you do not really need the full effect of a fall on sharp granite!
  18. Sounds like you are on it! Splat Chris has the Viton replacements too!
  19. I can only guess at likely culprits. First, better folks than you and I have been fooled by not getting hidden grit out of carby passages and jets. Pass a fine soft wire through the low speed jet and flush all pages with carby spray and blow out with air! Not uncommon for these things to need crank seals. You may do some basic tests easily by removing the mag cover and spraying the carby spray just a bit to see if that changes the idle. Another thing would be checking the primary side by testing for vacume /pressure changes on the tranny vent tube below the carb. A clean hose and vacume on the toungue is a good indication. A clear hose and the bike pulling water uphill would be another, so would excessive bubbles! There is no vacume per se on the airbox side of the carb, only ambient air rushing in, so outer boot is out!
  20. Sherco specific, call dealer or Splatshop!
  21. This is soo true! Seems all the good old bikes are near gone! The Mont 315! The Scorpa Yam! The TXT! Older Sherco! Pick your new poison!
  22. Kiiep your finger on the clutch matey! You will need it!
  23. Obviously is is hard to judge without seeing, but as in your initial question, Rough= $1000 Nice = could double that! Fresh motor, good tires, everything works well and looks good, normal dings expected. I will not drive a ten hour round trip for a turd when I can have a bike shipped halfway across the US for what it will cost you in fuel! Yes, that is how we get things around! If the thing is no cherry, why bother. Save your money and time for something better. Where are you?

    Fan Direction?

Should blow rearwards. At least every one I have ever owned did! Change polarity and you should be good to go.
