  1. look up that song " I have no roots!"
  2. " deep down i feel to leave it alone even though i want to learn more....." Keep this up and you shall quickly learn why you were told not to fix things that are not broken!
  3. some rattle is just normal with no load on things
  4. That oil should be fine. Does this sticking occur only after sitting? Does it operate normally after un-stuck?
  5. actually I believe that the majority of your issues may be resolved with cleaning the fire arrester screen ang repacking that. you could flush the muff with a solvent like gas or laquer thinner, then dry with a air feed. the fine screen on the SA is your choke point. those screens are regulation size you know.
  6. check out the WES silencers. alsp I myself would not cut the front pipe until first I seen how things go after getting the blocked rear cleaned or replaced. Also, I have long wondered why a good long soak in a Hot solvent tank at a local automotive machine shop would not work to cut the crud in the pipe. that is what that stuff does, but it is some nasty stuff!
  7. and after all that you are going to ride the antique 20 miles out into the bush with no buddy and no cell service? here is your sign!
  8. personally, I think you may be nuts! do you see any other edges that do not line up like a factory cyl? re-sleves are not that clean. I am not even sure that you arebfixing anything here. you said your problem was a knock or ping on closed throttle decel did you not? trust me when I tell you that a worn out rattler does not know if they are on closed throttle decal, as they rattle all the time!
  9. as it is indeed a fuel screw it is a rather coarse adjustment as compared to an airscrew, thus many folks kinda set them and forget them with the screw all the way out at the limit of its effective range at 3.5 turns. the pilot jet then becomes your main setting, with most at the 36-38 range for normal altitude. possibly a 40 even. the pilot jet size also effects the transition range off idle until yhe needle takes over so it requires a balance. they are great carbs, yet not the most precise metering device ever. I love them for simple function and reliability.
  10. so are you saying the spacers are swollen? jammed metal ring? what ring? you got pics?
