  1. Pretty sure I got some bone spurrs in my right one that do get irritating and such with heavy activity. It chrunches/ pops a bit on full range, but as you stated, it learns its way round. Have also had sub/ dis issues many times in the past with lax ligs. Trying to figure if worth fixing at 55, or just go till it gets too bad. As example it still works when riding normaly and do not overextend, yet may get inflamed from overuse, which may take weeks to settle.
  2. Just look how far back the pegs are!!!
  3. Preliminary reports of todays Cali national round indicate Pat Smage(Sherco) took the day with a resultant 12 points as compared to runner up Cody Webb(Beta) on 29. Looks as though the final podium position was hotly contested with Karl Davis Jr(Sherco) edging out Kieth Wineland(Gas Gas) 54 vs 55. Good job lads! Tomorrow is another day! Ride On!
  4. That looke cool! I may have to play with one of those!
  5. I would think you would need to insure fuel is flowing freelty to the carb by removing the fuel hose and opening the tap into a collection jar. Then progress to the carb itself. I presume this has the dellorto in it and you may wanto ck the banjo screen for swag out of the tank and then progress to the float valve and float level ck. Let us know how you git on, prolly a simple fix. If a Kiehin, same principles apply, yet an inline filter may be reccomendable if you have accumulated some new bike swag out of the tank.
  6. Clean the carby and blow out the jets, frehs plug and fuel. Yhat will get you a long way!
  7. Everyone is TALL, as compared to YOU! Even Fugi! I discovered GIRTH as well when I got bifocals!
  8. I am not trying to bash you lads in any way, as you ask honest questions and need good info. There was a fairly recent poll taken on this website a while back, and as I recall the majority of respondents were on 80:1 ratio of the oil of their choosing. And most nowadays run full synthetics it seems, with a few still wanting the semi- blends, prolly ok still. I do still think there are a lot that actually over oil, and even myself a bit because I think I could easily go to a bit higher ratios for my riding and I have in the past without issue. One of the big problems with trials bikes and their usage in an average riding environment for most seems the fact they do indeed accumulate oil too much and then the intermittant use with shutting off at sections, one does not maintain sufficient heat in the exhaust to keep the grunge flowing. I would add the point it seems to me that most failures of trials engines are not neccessarily oil related, reguardless of quantity, yet more along the lines of mud and dirt entry to the motor and the resultant abraision effect of the crud! Yes that stuff will lay up in the motor as well and become a grinding paste! All too often, poor air filter maintenance and water washthrough of dirt takes its toll on poorly maintained or improperly prepped bikes. Keeping the crud out is thusly much more important than the oil. Even the best open pored foam air filter is only capable of removing large debris! I am not really sure the exact numbers on this, yet as example one may associate something like a rate of removing 80% of particles of 10 microns or so in size. So the fine abrasives still make their way, reguardless! Ok, so much for my lesson of the day, get on with it! Cheers,
  9. Yes. This is commonly achieved by aggressivly bashing the bike into rock ledges on the plate as compared to the tires. If nothing changes here, I would imagine you may experience the same in the future and eventually have to replace the side cover at least as I am not sure just how many times they will tolerate a straightning without cracking.
  10. forks all wrong, too long, tire will hit frame
  11. Not sure? Just did see lately that Jitsie was in the biz, so one would think and hope that Formula would have stayed with the standard pattern pads? I think it all a bit of muckery really, as things go, there can only be soo many true producers of these things, and names to go with them depending upon how they are marketed.
  12. Never hurts when the local sports reporter guy is a club rider! And a darn good one to boot!
  13. Without any real data it is difficult to say, yet the bikes are soo quiet it seems the exhaust must be restrictive. Then again, It may be all mental, as unless one is really revving the crap out of it there may be no real difference! Funny just how all that works, as my Ego wants(expects) more noise when I crack the throttle, then I get on something like the 3.2 Sherco and it sounds pretty good! About that time the intellect takes over and asks if someone could please slow this thing down a bit! Ha!
  14. That is indeed a good question! Think I stated the Renthals were indeed a bit wider than the stock Sherco bars, now that was the old ones with crossbar, not sure about the fatbars. Seems they were mostly patterned by the Lampkin or Kuriama bends with bit of difference in the sweep back, but wonder if that was indeed their preferred width? Maybe someone should ask Dougie!
  15. I would allways say support your local dealer whenever possible and he will likely help support you at the trials! Now there are allways unique or specialy item about that not all will have available, so you allways have choices.
  16. Do as you like then. I keep telling peeps they don't need all that oil and it is a waste of money and worse for the bike and the environment. You must understend and accept that the modern synthetics are not your dads old oil! Just how often do you rev the crap out of a trials bike anyway? OK, nuff said. Here is an example of one oil producer that is willing to put their product and reputation to the test. I just need to call them and ask if they can make it smell like bean oil! http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atp.aspx
  17. Seals, what seals you on about? Did you drive the bashplate up into the clutch cover or what? They can be straightened with a bit of gentile persuasion.
  18. Another inch an Billy would be a King! One less ang he would be a Queen!
  19. I don't really think you are missing much, as things are fairly simple here. Only other thing I can think of may be an intermittant fan that is hard to start up. The motor does require DC voltage which means the rectifier must work properly so ck the earth point on it as well. Yet as you did state the fan worked when thermo switch jumped and you have had no real over heat symptoms such as pinking, I still wonder?
  20. Some rattle is simply normal, More oil is not going to change that.
  21. Thats all good if you are running the roads as in SSDT, but too much for putting. I can easily run up to 100:1 for putting. You see it all accumulates in the motor and exhaust if they are not running at higher revs. And even at those ratios, you still need to rev them out periodically with a good run to blow out the crap. Do as you like, but excess is not your friend here!
  22. I agree that two teeth on the rear is not a tremendous difference, yet more a tradeoff. The stock gearing on a 125 is 9/44 as an example, yet they like to rev a bit more. If you really do not need the top speed of 5th gear, you could experiment cheaply with a 9t front just to see how things feel and find a balance there before dishing out for the whole kit. Chain fitment can be a pain, as most years use a half link and you may need to cut it out to drop a tooth on front. Depending upon what floats your boat, then decide, A 9t front def slows the bike and narrows the ratios, use 4th with the most ease for sure.
  23. Oh good! And you wound up doing what? Light spring in the carb and the exhaust perhaps?
  24. Yep prolly galfer I would guess. I see that Jitsie has them available now. Would think they had done their homework, I hope.
