  1. Throttle, then developing your clutch control!!! The thing will not outride you if you use the clutch as a power control device! Takes better application.
  2. Nice, ea! Them Jeeps drive like a Caddy! Ironically, there are still many out there that first rattle out the box want to screw them up with huge lift kits and huge wheels and tires in an effort to make them ride and drive like total crap!!!!
  3. No, not meant to be harsh, yet I can easily see your point. Just for my own quriosity, as I think I have a fair grasp on the situation and would tend to be leinient myself.... This All just gets into another debate over no-stop, which I accept, yet personally think "stop for five" too harsh in many ways. Finding balance here has allways been an issue to both riders and observers. People make things soo difficult these days it seems. Seems everything has to be written and interpreted by lawyers! It would be far too simple to state rules like: 1- If the rider gets through with minor hesitstion dragging the bike along, just point him for his dabs. 2- If the same sucker gets himself stuck flogging the bike for a three count or more, he is done. His momentum has now ceased! This is a failure.
  4. I think you are correct there , yet the 2T exhaust note is more decieving and one does not get the same pop per rev as in a 4t. I have noticed in vids of Bou, he seems to be able to chug the bike along endlessly without a flameout, does not sem to idle the same as others. I know damn well they are running bluetooth mapping links to the bike, so it only stands to reason they are running a "pack" on the bike to stabalize things and connect to it.
  5. It would be of interist to put some section scores along with some of the(lesser) riders in those sections. Just if nothing else to test just how leinient the no stop goes. Doubt that will happen though. Ya dun yet lad?
  6. There are a few riders out your way and an occasional trials event. Mostly north-west AR and seem closely related to the group in the Tulsa area.(NEOTT) I think the club is ATR, or Arkansas Trials Riders. Have you had a look?
  7. And Caby is what, chopped liver? Fajardo does seem to be finding a lot of podium spots does'nt he.
  8. You would want a good ride on it first, may not be your cuppa, all depends on you. All them sayings about wishing for come to mind.
  9. What really surprizes me is that seems noone has picked up un this on the Montesa front. From what I know it is the same basic system. Them things would prolly chug like a garden tractor if you did not have to keep um revved all the time to prevent a flameout! I am thinking even a 9V setup should run the pump and such if it had a bit more capacity. Cars systems will start and run on 9V, but things git iffy below that. Just to add another thought, a NI-CD pack should easily re- charge itself as well, and these are readily available. A few years ago I built a small NI-CD pack to run the LED lights installed in my enclosed trailer which charged off the vehicle when driven. It would run the lights for hours on end if needed.
  10. Pat Smage has taken the penultimate round in RI to seal the deal on the US Championship this year over Cody Webb with Brian Roper rounding out the podium again over Kieth Wineland. In my poor math, I think the deal is sealed on the third overall spot unless Kieth has a bad day tomorrow he is still locked in 3'rd overall. These guys are great! Looks like a good TDN team to me!
  11. Reeds Dabster Reedds! Did you compare the dual stage to the carbon?
  12. You can bet they are all made in Italy at the same factory as other makes!
  13. This one event sticks in my head where we had one of them little wire markers holding the section tape down near a muddy start at the bottom of the hill. Everyone had to go past it and the mud bermed up and just folded the little wire marker over, some worse than others. Not sure if Martin was there, but other names like Commo and Komer come to mind. Guys will push every inch they can, and understandably so. I got soo tired of going down to re-set this thing that I gave up and for the most part the tape survived with only a couple of breaks which earned a 5 and served it's purpose. In hindsight I should have used that as a ploy to gig them all at the top! You see that little flag down there laying in the mud, Well You Screwed It UP and I am p****d!
  14. That spitting out of fluid(with expansion) sounds pretty normal untill things normalize. There needs to be a little airspace in there, but not 6 oz worth I would not think,. Keep an eye on things for a bit, should be ok.
  15. Bit muddy was it? Switch on to stricter for the top line? Well what is wrong with that? As observer, job is to hand out points, now wold that be a count of one-onethousand, or two or three?
  16. Good on you then! Now you have the rest of the tutorials to go by as well. Only things here I might add are: Do not wash bike without blocking off/ pulling / checking air filter and box. Water and dirt will wash through like a sieve! Inspection and greasing of rear suspension links and bearings is also a key.
  17. This is what I was referring to earlier. Glad you cought up! Now typically this will be a mid year '12 bike production and a glimpse at what may be on the new product line. Fine bike, yet little here to improve my riding, I am afraid. Now, Wayne on the other hand, I am sure he may take full advantage and find great comfort hopping about on the rear wheel with those new lower bars!
  18. Best I recall the thermo switch for the fan is set at about 180F on most bikes(comes on), to go off a typical switch may need to be a bit lower than that. My fan on the Sherco as example will cut off at idle for short periods, yet not positive about the gasser. You should get some temp reading pertty close with the lazer gun if pointed on the head or cyl. The fan is just normally trying to keep things in a normal operating range somewhere betweel the setpoint and boiling point under the pressure cap. which I would think around 230-240 range on the high end, yet if the big motor never drops low enogh it may not cycle out at those temps. Mayby try in the AM when things are cooler. i SUPPOSE IT IS INDEED CYCLING OUT AT SOME POINT IF IT IS NOT COMING ON AT STARTUP! A little spray bottle with water on the rad usually cools things quickly (er) as another test. Exhust will be higher and vary with load, little to do with this.
  19. Gearbox oil 450ml all years. Forks are normally set with 5wt oil. As I recall, "06 was the first year with the adjustable damping Paioli fork. The procedures and oil quantity are totally different than those listed in the old tutorial and can be complex. Let us know if you need further assistance here.
  20. I would guess it at 40lb with the top end, so you should be fine!
  21. Kinda depends on what you call hilly terrain? At 90F with hills it may well run. Does it cycle at idle? Too much oil BTW! You will be fine at 80:1 as long as you are not running down the highway!

    Rear Wheel

    Jon needs a new bike!
  23. Taken as a point of interist I have never read up on, here is a snippet I found on direct injection 2T 's. Seems this stuff works quite well actually in certain environments(marine and such) yet it requires a lot of things to get it done. Far too cumbersome and complex for trials application. This is expensive hardware. "So the question is, how is a direct-injected 2-stroke engine lubricated? It can’t use a sump system like a 4-stroke because the crankcase is still acting like an air compressor. And you can’t mix the oil with the gas as in a traditional 2-stoke, since the gas never makes it into the crankcase. An E-TEC engine uses an external oil tank that holds about 2 liters of oil – enough for about 40 hours of engine operation. The oil is slowly injected to places like the crank bearings and cylinder wall. Therefore, the oil does mix with the air getting pumped through the crankcase. It gets burned in the combustion process. The amount of oil is so small that it has no noticeable effect on emissions, and it has none of the pass-through problems with oil as in a carbureted 2-stroke. Also note that, by burning the oil, there are advantages. There is no pollution potential when changing the crankcase oil of a 4-stroke engine (e.g. person spills or dumps oil on ground or water), and there is no possibility of forgetting to change the oil and ruining the engine." Even here I take note of the mention of "pass through problem" which is an issue I intent to expound upon more, later. Feel free to read up on the evinrude marine engines if you like. The thing I found stated they are still on a 1% oil injection ratio. Even my weed wacker is at 2% and about to go leaner on synthetic bike oil!
