  1. Would it not be cheaper to fit a bike rack? Anyway how do you get to trials now? Cant you use that vehicle?
  2. Did it get on tv then ? I'm not near the box in the mornings but if it did was it good?
  3. I use the exact same clamps and no problem. Therefore can only assume the rim may be at fault especially as on the Trifield there is no problem. Must admit never come across this one so i am very interrested in the outcome. Hopefully see you Sunday and discuss at greater depth.
  4. Youre a lucky man having the chance to drive Lambos and ride Fantics. I envy you. Honest i do
  5. Lets keep our fingers crossed it's true. That would be fantastic.
  6. Had a Sunbeam Lotus nice car which in a moment of madness i swapped for a Sierra Cosworth, i was a lot better off in those far off days, bad move but thats another story. Always wanted a go in a Lancia Stratos. Saw one recently and still looks and sounds awsome. Now that really was a Classic. So which trials bike is your favourite Classic ? i'll start it off in no particular order Triumph Tiger Cub T20T, McLaren Suzuki, Bultaco Sherpa slimline kit Campione, Ossa MAR Mk1. Theyre my top four, would have been three but couldnt make my mind up, had em all and really wish i had NEVER sold any of them. They are all Classics to me but which would you choose?
  7. Bought an Ossa a while back from a bloke and he couldnt wait to show me his P&J's so ok i thought why not he's into bikes so should be of interrest. Well turns out he was a Bridgestone nut and had these Bridgestones which he showed. Mostly under 10 miles all of them !!! and he said they even had the original air in the original tyres. Laughed my head off then i saw his face. He wasnt joking! Centrally heated garage. Special box trailer for transport etc. Err made my excuses and left with the Ossa asap.
  8. Re the plug caps. Rebuilt a Z1a a while back and had to get some bits from a local guy who specializes in Kawasaki tripples and zeds and he was showing me some of his stuff. Appears that now he has had to get the replacement silencers roughed up on the inside edge before having them chromed as that is what the anotaks want as that is how they left the factory Derrr. So now they specify crap chrome finish instead of perfect. Have you seen the bolts stamped Bultaco for sale heads are as left factory? Wonder if they are made from cheese as the original ones were too.
  9. The Austin Allegro or All Aggro as we called them when i worked at Wadham Stringers. Princess really needed roller skates strapping to the door handles to improve the handling. The thing is the anoraks with sheds are buying up stuff to make ever more garage queens basically cos theyve got "all the gear and no idea". That was ok but now they are buying trials bikes and doing the same. Best reason for never attending a "Bike Show" why the hell would anybody want to look at a bog standard spotlessly clean competition bike? I've tried a cross and garlic whenever one comes over to "talk" but need something more powerful perhaps a Kalashnikov ?
  10. Charlie we are all unappreciated Classics. Suppose if the owner truly believes it's a Classic then to them it is. As for Bessie she'll always be a Classic to me as she was my first born
  11. Most people add the word "Classic" to bump the price up when theyre selling. Bit like the word "Majesty" applied to every TY Yam. Theres even an Austin Allegro owners club for gods sake. Care in the community or what?
  12. Not quite sure why youve crossed your post out because you make some good valid points. This one one of the reasons we changed from ACU to AMCA. To ride AMCA trials you dont need a competition license and though we do have club membership you can still ride if you are not a member it just costs you £3.00 more entry fee. I am sure other AMCA affiliated clubs would be the same as two other such clubs in our area are. Check out the AMCA website for details of clubs in your area.
  13. Soften your shocks by turning the preload adjuster so that it applys minimum preload. Your shocks should just bottom out when you go over a decent sized step or drop or even a large log say 15" if they never bottom out you are not using all the suspension travel. You could always upgrade the shocks at a later date but that should do for now and help with grip and control.
  14. As an example theres a cobbled up pile of junk on flea bay at the moment with the AMC motor that isnt worth the cost of fuel to pick it up but some poor sap will probably buy it thinking theyre getting a James trials bike at a bargain price.
  15. Glad you enjoyied yourselves good vid BTW. Now get some decent tyres run them at 3 -4 p.s.i. max and soften the suspension a LOT.
  16. Definately looks home made special. Need more piccys close ups and side on shots etc to try to identify what it is made up from.
  17. OK OK senior moment LOL That'll teach me and yes i did fail maths O level the first time had to resit.
  18. So it's just the carb thats worn ? Lots of TY mono carbs come up on flea bay so thats probably the easiest option. Easy enough to check if the carbs worn anyway. I assume you have checked the slide and body?
  19. Are you sure it's not a Villiers 8E motor in a Bantam or some such frame ? Looks like a Bantam tank too but then again i could be totally wrong. Then again for £750 and if you could knock him down a bit even better.
  20. So he's still winning in a hundred years time?
  21. Not wishing to hijack but why should'nt the Scottish pre65 2 day have a qualifying criteria ? well in addition to the one it already has. Back to the dates clashes issue perhaps if they could be bothered to announce their dates a damn site earlier then we could all try not to clash with each other. Alway been a problem even when we were ACU the Nationals never published their date till the new year while the clubs had to submit date to the Centre dates meeting by November. Bloody ridiculous lets not forget the NBBR and sammy Miller rounds have a negative effect on Club trials too
  22. You use a spacer to give more clearence between the chain and the tyre. You also need to move the motor over to the left by a corresponding amount to maintain chain alignment. If you dont the rear wheel locks up with mud as the chain clearence isnt enough.
  23. nice one or is it two Ross. Was going to ask the obvious but thought better of it
  24. and there are badly converted road bikes with AMC motors that arent worth tupence.
