  1. Don't really bother me if they moan or not. Try to listen to them all and filter out the salient points cos it's always good to see the other guys point of view. Some things, quite a lot acksherly, have changed and are in the process of changing at our "wee club trials" all because of things that have been said and overheard and hopefully it will make us a better club cos it's too easy sometimes to widthdraw into your own little cave and think my way is the only way. Just my point of view. I take the viewpoint that it's the riders club not my club. I'm just the caretaker for the moment. I know there is a massive difference in scale but i still dont get why everybody north of the boarder seem so sensitive and, to me, overprotective of the scottish. Not trying to slag it off at all. I recognise that the SSDT and possibly the Pre65 are the two premier events in the UK but it's just a point of view. Heat, kitchen etc etc. Look doesnt matter anyway cos they will both always be oversubscribed anyway so if the organisers said everybody had to wear squeaky red noses and recite rabi burns as they ride the section it wouldnt make a blind bit of difference. OOOOOH i am getting unpopular with my reputation score soon to overtake Gadaffi's
  2. Off topic but why are Scottish people so touchy and oversensative ?
  3. Don't know who made them but i bought a Pinky a while back and that had a tank cover. The tank underneath was pristine with no fading however the cover was a write off as it had gone brittle and the stitching gave way. Probably why you never see them nowadays.
  4. Spinning Wheel are ALWAYS very expensive. There are at least 4 Enfields on Ebay at the moment all for under
  5. Peak Classic trials club are holding round 1 of their 2011/2012 club championship at Dudwood Farm this Sunday 27th Feb start 11.00. Entry fee just
  6. Still think the Royal Enfield would be your best bet
  7. If he asks to look in your rucksack dont let him LOL
  8. Depends if you're desperate for money or not. I would fit it and use it myself. As you are used to "motocross an road bikes" you are hardly going to be overwhelmed by the power but the extra little bit does come in handy.
  9. Sorry can't help but i know Mick is having some replicas made if thats any help?
  10. Why HL ? this is motor sport and surely this is part and parcel of motor sport.
  11. Shows i'm getting old cos i notice the bike has the pear shaped works tank. So much nicer than the usual Majesty tank. Goes to prove why we need more women in the sport
  12. In NASCAR they introduced a rule introducing a smaller size fuel tank. The more intellagent car builders just included a very long fuel line which held enough extra fuel for a couple of laps which gave them an advantage until everybody else cottoned on. What about a large fuel filter in the fuel line then? 500cc isnt that big and if it gets you off the moor worth looking at. Big John says "Any approved auxiliary tanks must be fitted to the machine". I dont know the regs for the SSDT verbatim but if that is the actual wording then it doesnt state where they must be fitted to the machine does it? Then again BJ says "I really enjoy myself when people start posting stuff and prove that they really don't know what they are talking about!" which i assume was directed at me so i may be wrong but i know if i was riding i would be looking at engineering a solution to the problem of shortage of fuel.
  13. Bantam and Cub sprockets are interchangeable. Give Talon a ring if you're stuck. Why would you want steel specifically ? Alloy does the job perfectly and is lighter.
  14. Would have thought the Royal Enfield would be a better bet and probably cheaper too. If you cant find one in "trials" trim then there are quite a few "Indian" Enfields about that can be very easily converted all for much less than the cost of a Cub. Dont think the Bantam would be up to it IMHO.
  15. Just checked and i only have a new superlight clutch cable for the TY250 twinshock. Sorry. Oh yes no jazz mags either.
  16. Good idea but also if you dont like the extra weight on the forks why not just put the Hebo tank in your rucksack? You are still using an approved means of carrying the extra fuel and it eliminates the weight on the forks issue. Doesnt say where the Hebo tank has to be fitted does it?
  17. Havent seen many, actually havent seen ANY, copies of Vestys bike. Have riden a Puma however and i would be very surprised if the bike would run rings around one of those. They are simply superb examples of how a Bultaco could and should be. Make Vestys bike look like a garden shed lash up. Not trying to knock Reg May or his work and place in the history books but we have surely come a loooooooooooooooooooooooong way since then?
  18. Wasnt trying to be disrespectful just honest. I expected radical suspension, CNC Billet etc etc. Sort of like Vestys but properly finished off. B40RT classic Marty Feldman a Comic God along with Bob Monkhouse and Dave Allen the response made me laugh almost as much as they all did. Nice one The kit Campione Bultaco was sheer beauty. An angel fallen to earth and still in my book the best looking trials bike so far closely followed by the OSSA MAR. Was talking to a aquaintance today at the practice day and he had a very valid point that i had never considered and definately applies to my outlook on Trials Bikes. We were talking about Pre65, Twinshocks and bikes in general. He pointed out when we were discussing "mods", engineering not the scooter boys, he loves Old Bikes for what they are Old Bikes their history style etc etc. Made me think cos i have never looked at them that way and would happily attack anything to make it perform better and to hell with provanance or "history". Not saying either viewpoint is "right" or "wrong" but for once i started to perhaps see why some people hold certain aspects of Old Bikes in such reverence. I still dont understand it but i do respect it. Prefer a Puma or Vasquez Bultaco, much more my style, but i am sure the Bultaco in question has a place in history and was "special" in it's day.
  19. Very very nice. Perhaps theres scope here for Bultaco ones etc ???
  20. OK nice bike. OK has history but when i heard how "special" it was i was dissapointed by the photos. Expected something much more trick. Nice std looking bike but not what i was expecting. Then again i do look at things a bit differently.
  21. The Maty frames are on hold at the mo as the frame builder has got a bit greedy. The price hike would have made them too expensive. Coupled to that my finances have taken a hit so looks like some of them will have to go as complete TY "clubman" bikes, one has gone already the other has had the engine rebuilt and will be sold in the next couple of weeks then there's the "project". Thats the way it is sometimes best laid plans of mice and men. Squeek.
