  1. Cheers guys, will go out in a bit and have another look. Ive got a link extractor cheers dave, thanks for the offer though. Ill let you know how i get on. Stu is in the far east again til early september so it'll just be me and merv.
  2. Hi dave, Im running 10 on the front and 42 on the back. You riding at the old mine kinlet tomorrow?
  3. Hi, just putting a new Iris chain on my 08 Gasser and the chain is about 5mm to short to join up with a normal link. I put a half/split link and connected up with 2 straight joiners to make it a bit longer and now the chain is to slack even with the cams right around. (It's not slack enough to come off but the chain tensioner is right up against the swing arm) I know you can get oversize cams but dont really want to go down this route as id need to buy a new axle as well. Would it be ok to run the chain a bit slack for a while, wait for it to stretch a bit then take the extra links out? Any help would be great.
  4. I have a toyota hiace and is the best van ive ever owned. Never had to do anything to it in 4 years. Reliable and very solid.
  5. Having seen a few of my mates break bones over the last few months ive invested in a spine guard for practicing. You hardly know its there unless its a really hot day and it also gives me a bit more confidence to fly at things a bit more
  6. Had them on my beta and now have them on my gasser and there excellent. Far better than the standard ones. They dont clog up with mud and I like the feeling of them under foot. Havent tried altering the washers to give different position yet though, but with my level of riding dont think itll make much odds!!!!!!
  7. Hi, ive done them on my 99' Gasser which are the same. What i do is put the cup that the seals are in upside down on a bench. I then use a pointed chisel that is sligtly 'hooked' on the end. Get the chisel on the edge of the seal and knock it with a hammer til it moves out a bit. Then keep working around the seal until it comes out. Takes a while but does come eventually. Its alot easier on the newer bikes!!! To put them back in just put the new ones in place and put the old ones on top and hammer them in. To help them go in put a bit of grease around the new seals.
  8. Me and my mates thoroughly enjoyed the competition. 3 of them had never seen trial riding and although they struggled to understand the format they still enjoyed it and want to come back next year Might even puersuade them to get bikes!!! I didnt think the format, although complicated, was to bad. Where it struggled was the 3rd part of the trial where lampkin and fajardo went out. The sections they had to complete were to easy for them, as in they were all clean bar dougie. Lampkin made a mistake and it was all over for him and fajardo only went out because everyone riding those section were clean and he was slowest. If they had manged to take some dabs off the riders, it would not have had to come down to time and be based on there skill. Also, it would have given lampkin a chance to make amends for his 5. Having said that though i wouldnt want the job of setting sections for these guys, such a fine line between getting a clean and a 5. Big shout out for loris Gubian after that horrible crash off the cotton wheels. Every time a rider went to drop off that top cotton wheel made me wince. Fair play to getting up and carrying on. Although i bet hes got to sit on a cushion for next few weeks!!!
  9. A big thank you to everyone who attended the trial on sunday and also a big thank you to wye valley ac for putting the trial on. All in all with contributions for the food and the land use money we had
  10. Doh....keep forgetting to put down fiancee. I'll have to keep her off the site else itll be me needing help from a charity Is there a charity for help getting new balls?!!!!!
  11. The rev 3 will fit an evo but you need to buy the adaption kit from lampkins. Costs about
  12. Hi, the wye valley club came around yesterday to our farm and marked out the trial for the 13th dec and i must say it has excellent sections that everyone will enjoy. Lots of natural gulllys, stream beds, climbs e.tc. It is a large lap doen 4 times that must be getting on for 1 1/2 to 2 miles in length per lap so plenty of riding for everyone over some amazing terrain. Anyone who rode the trevor hunt trophy trial that was part of the normandale series will have rode some of the sections on offer earlier this year. But as far as a club trial it is a new venue. The main reason im writing this though is that my girlfriend is suffering from the condition - pulmonary hypertension - that the wye valley are donating the profits towards, to help research and find a cure, as at present there is no simple cure and the only way it can be cured is with a double lung transplant. So, if your free on the weekend of 13th dec and you want a great venue to trial at with a long lap and do some good for a worthwile charity please get yourselves up to the trial at Rocky Fold farm, Craswall. (Anyone wanting to use a sat nav the post code for the farm is HR2 0PN.) Hope to see lots of you there Mal
  13. He's not sure yet. Im def going though. Really enjoying the bike at the moment. Much better in the wet than i thought it would be. Loads of grip and the front end is much better than the beta
  14. Cheers dave, was offered a 2000 gasser wheel for direct swap with my old beta one last night. Wont be taking him up on it now i know that Just went out and tryed my old 99 gasser rear wheel as well to see what difference there is and the brake disc is about 5mm too near the swingarm when offered up to the new gasser. Must be due to the brake caliper being behind the swingarm instead of on top of it. Atleast i know now which years will fit. You riding rhyader next weekend?

    its no where near me

    2010 Xispa

Just curious, but why dont xispa do a test day. Gas Gas do one and BVM do a really good test day once a year where everyone can make up there own minds about the bikes. Im sure there are lots of positives about the bike, but from reading all there posts they seem to be very defensive and dont want any negatives. Im sorry but all bikes have negatives. If they want to survive they need to get some bikes out there.
  18. hi stu, the full set for 55 quid is for the dog bones/linkage but not the swing arm 'top hat' ones. If you get these itll be more like 80 / 90 quid. Have also been told that the main lower shock bearing can wear very quickly on the gassers so might be worth checking. Think that one is about 30 quid!!!. Ive got a large pot of water proof grease if you want to borrow some when you do them. See you sunday, cant wait for a play in the mud!!!!
  19. does anyone know of a good glue to stick down decals that have started to peel off?
  20. cheers for all your help dave- stu came around tonight for a practice and we looked at his and it wont fit. The caliper on the gasser is inside the swing arm, whereas on the beta it is on top of the swing arm so the distances are all wrong on the brake disc. Looks like ill have to find someone who is in my situation but the other way around and see if they want to swap..or sell it and see if i can buy another. Have bought an 08 250cc gasser this morning, as long as its as described when i pick it up!! Was told today that the 08's had problems with there radiators, dont know if you know anything about this. Tryed searching it on this forum but couldnt find anything so assume it cant be that bad.
  21. Hi, I am changing from beta to gas gas and am therefore selling the beta. I have a spare wheel for it and was wondering if the wheel will fit an 08 gasser? Im asuming i will have to get new spacers, but even with these will it still not fit?
  22. If the world rounds do go to non stop does anyone think this will change the order of riders at the top. Will bou and raga still be dominant over everyone else and will it help dougie get that 100th win. He grew up and rode at the highest level with the old non stop rules where as some of the younger riders havent.
  23. Does any one know if you can buy the type of ritratto trousers that dougie lampkin wears, and if so where you can get them from? They look so much better than the normal ones.
  24. Hi, ive had the opertunity to buy a factory compression head for my 06 beta for not a lot. The friend im getting it from said he was told that with this head and boysen reeds it would smooth the bike out at the bottom end. He had an 07 beta. He fitted the reeds and felt it was smooth enough so never fitted the head. I dont know how much difference itll make to my bike but just got a few questions: 1. What size gasket will I be best getting for the new head as i know you can get different thicknesses. 2. what difference is there between boyesen and v-force reeds? I might do what he did and just fit reeds to start with and then mess around with the head afterwards. Has anyone else used one of these heads and what difference did it make? Cheers for your help.
  25. You can drop your insurance with carol nash by getting a security chain, as long as the make of chain is on there list. I did for my beta and it went from
